Well, to go full speed in the practice session does have the risk of the car crashing, and in addition, its raining.
Kimi seems confidence bout this upcoming race.. |

Alonso for P1 eh... well a lot of things can happen during the real qualifying session. Most of the time the timing recorded during the practice sessions cannot really be put into judgment ... Kimi might be the fastest now, but then he is the one who set the threshold by going on the track 1st and running the most laps atm.. so Alonso might just be faster .. in a sense if he is capable of |

QUOTE(blah1134 @ May 2 2007, 10:46 PM) ![]() mclaren mechanics show this to the crowds that are unhappy with alonso only doing one lap yesterday.. HAhaha now mclaren crews are as cocky as alonso already. hAHaHhahaha. we're gonna hear some fanboys cryin ... Raikkonen full of confidence after test ![]() QUOTE A bullish Kimi Raikkonen has warned Ferrari's rivals that he and the Italian team are in much better shape for the rest of the season after making a set-up breakthrough in testing at Barcelona this week. Despite crashing in the rain on Tuesday afternoon, Raikkonen has dominated the testing times so far this week and he believes modifications to the F2007 have increased its overall speed and made him much more confident with its handling. "We've learned a lot," said Raikkonen after returning to the pits following his small off at Turn 3, where he just kissed the tyre barriers without suffering any major damage. "You never know what the others are doing, but for the race we are more confident. The car feels very good here, so let's wait and see what happens." Raikkonen is most happy with his own personal confidence in the car, having faced a stronger than expected challenge from teammate Felipe Massa in the first three races of the year. "I found a better set-up for myself and the car seems to be handling the way I want now," said Raikkonen. "I think we are in a much stronger position now. "(The championship) started three races ago, but the points are very close and nothing has been lost so far. It is important to have good races now. We have a good package, I have got a better setup and I am much happier than in the first three races. I think it is good." Raikkonen confessed that he had not been happy with certain characteristics of the car in the first races of the campaign, and knew that only proper testing would help him overcome the issues. "The car was good and getting better, but it was never quite right," he said. "I was not happy after qualifying in Melbourne and the same in Malaysia. We knew the problem but we could not do anything between the races. But finally we found something, which is definitely better for me." Raikkonen believes the improvements should help keep the team ahead of McLaren at the Spanish Grand Prix - although he is unsure exactly how much of an advantage they currently have. "I think we have improved a lot since the last race, and we understand the car more. That is the main thing. Sure we want to win the race and we will see what we can do, but I am now much happier going into the race than the last couple of events "We have found something which is definitely much better for me. I think we can use the full potential of the car now." Hope Kimi can leave Catalunya as Championship leader This post has been edited by Raikkonen: May 3 2007, 02:00 AM |

QUOTE Williams have decided to call off their testing in Barcelona following shunts from Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg. Japanese test driver Kazuki Nakajima crashed heavily on the first day of the test which hindered the Grove-based teams' testing programme. Rain affected day two of the test and on Wednesday German driver Nico Rosberg crashed heavily at turn seven, severely damaging the right side of his FW27. In consequence, the team have decided to cancel the fourth day of the test. "Nico went on a kerb a bit too much just before the corner and there did not seem to be much rubber on that kerb, possibly from the rain yesterday, and that was it," Williams' Chief Operations Engineer Rod Nelson told autosport.com at Barcelona. "His car swapped its ends and crashed into the wall. The bodywork is all finished and the monocoque we are looking at it now but does not look good either," he added. "It really has not been our week but Nico is okay and we are going home now. In Malaysia we had a good test and a bad race so hopefully is will be the other way round here!" 1) Massa Ferrari 1:21.506 103 2)Webber Red Bull-Renault 1:21.804 95 3) Trulli Toyota 1:22.309 107 4) Kovalainen Renault 1:22.378 121 5) Alonso McLaren-Mercedes 1:22.579 73 6) Kubica BMW Sauber 1:22.653 83 7) Button Honda 1:22.765 114 8) Davidson Super Aguri-Honda 1:23.027 112 9) Speed Toro Rosso-Ferrari 1:23.713 96 10) Albers Spyker-Ferrari 1:24.870 63 11) Rosberg Williams no time |
