Theres nothing wrong with your BitComet or uTorrent. The problem is TMNet playing the fool with your connection. Setting and re-setting your port. Nothing you can do about it.

@hahn87

after installing and running privoxy it appears in the system-tray, right-click, edit->Default Actions (open in notepad) OR from privoxy window Options>Edit Default Actions.

find for "user-agent" (no quotes), there are several, skip those until at about line 580 (somewhere in the middle) edit to look like:

+hide-user-agent{Mozilla (X11; I; Linux 2.0.32 i586)} \

don't delete the " \" at the end.

privoxy uses default 127.0.0.1 and port 8118, so go to your bt client and enter this as your proxy. look at privoxy log and your tracker info should appear there.

now, set your browser, say IE and change its proxy setting to 127.0.0.1 and port 8118 and browse. check privoxy log to confirm.

to confim that you have change your user-agent go to:
http://www.webprodevelopment.com/Web_Toys/..._My_User_Agent/

if it reports your customized user-agent. success. bt client should now connect to trackers. rclxm9.gif

NOT the ports on your modem!
PORT=DSLAM
Why cant you understand that there is nothing wrong with your PC/modem and there is NOTHING you can do about 0 kB/sec downloads because TMNet is blocking your connection. If you are really not happy with this you can stop your Streamyx subscription and try other ISP's like TimeNet , Jaring etc. You can also consult a lawyer and see if you can sue TMNet for blocking your connection to International peers.

There is no way to connect to Int'l peers because TMNet is blocking the connections. If you can call up TMNet and persuade them to unblock your connection then you will be able to connect to int'l peers once again.

OMG... is that possible? Any tips on how to persuade them? laugh.gif

Thank you so much for your prompt answer... last month my connection was slow and I thought it was problem at my end. When I called them twice they put me through the "go to our network speedometer, your connection very stable mah lolz" routine... can imagine I have to do that again rclxub.gif

If you are doing port forwarding correctly then uncheck map uPnP port. It is not needed at all.

Are the seeders/peers you are seeing from overseas? If they are then you cant connect to them. TMNet is blocking ALL connections to overseas peers/seeders. If you want to know why then please call up TMNet for an explanation.

lxwong, I know about tmnet blocking international peers/seeders.. But I'm downloading from our own mytorrent.hopto.org.. They r all local,right?

my DHT status = not allowed but tracker status = working
I'm not connected to any peers/seeders at all...
What does that mean?

One question. Why r they doing this? p2p is now their ultimate nemesis??
*
they are doing this because they're running out of bandwidth. instead of expanding their resources, they limit our connection in order to allocate 'place' for new signups.

you can use 'parasite' as metaphore

Yes, mytorrent.hopto.org is a local tracker. Some trackers dont allow DHT, especially those trackers that have banned BitComet. You said that you are not connected to any peers/seeders at all.....so does that mean that your d/l speed is 0 kB/sec? If you are trying to d/l a file that has no seeder then you wont be connected to any peers or seeders at all. Maybe you can try to request for someone to seed the file. Good luck.

All credit goes to silverhawk for sharing this 'workaround'. I only started to post in this thread because I noticed that many ppl are under the mistaken notion that this 'workaround' is some sort of 'magic bullet' that will increase the speed of downloads. Please read and re-read the following:
paws and/or proxomitron WILL NOT INCREASE THE SPEED OF YOUR BITTORRENT DOWNLOADS. It is to enable you to connect to the tracker. How fast or slow your download is, is entirely controlled by TMNet.
Having said that, paws and/or proxomitron definitely works and we all have to thank silverhawk for sharing this 'tip'.
