this is kinda OT, but trying to see if it's possible to swap car number plates between vehicles that are both under my name?

buying a used car with a plate that I don't fancy, so thinking if I can interchange with my existing car before I sell it off.
*
You can even do that if you own a car and a bike. Try search, quite a few post here on this

totally newbie in auto market

2. Budget : 70k
3. New/Used/Unreg : New
4. Specs : FUEL saving
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI : Any
7. Type : Sedan

Daily travelling about 60km to Cyberjaya

i am eying on the toyato ez beli scheme (vios)

*
I agree w Jay Chua the ez beli scheme is not recommended. Calculate the interest you will pay in total at the end of loan.

Meanwhile, since you are poor (need to take loan), would you consider Bezza 1.3 as it has comparatively low fuel consumption? Alternatively Saga provides better handling for your 60KM daily travel. Both cars are within RM45K

Friend offered to sell her well maintained low mileage 2015 HRV grade V for 60K after getting X50.

Vs D55L entry grade say assume same price.

Daily usage single driver with monthly outstation drive (MCO permitting) priority can transverse slight flood and occasional kampong roads with some light but bulky cargo. Fuel consumption not important. No loan needed and maintenance cost covered.

Opinions or further questions welcomed

2. Budget : <50k
3. New/Used/Unreg : New
5. Transmission : Auto
7. Type : Sedan

8. Remarks : Currently, looking at the new proton persona. Just a student, now driving a 2009 MYVI. Parents only allow me to buy a new car, they want me to have my own car and maybe drive grab as a part-time job. They suggest me to choose bezza but I personally think there won't be much improvement (possible a downgrade?), just that it will have a better fuel economy. Need some advice
*
There are only 3 new sedans below 50K. Saga Bezza Persona.
Proton launching upgrades this Thursday 18feb so u can take a look.

Myvi to Bezza is a downgrade from a segment and handling perspective but not from a 12 year old car to a new one. If you are a careful urban driver, Bezza is a recommended sedan.

As for driving grab.. as a student ..why? Doesnt sound like money is a problem and worth the accident risk and effort. Might as well intern in the field you are studying to get better returns but thats another thread, not here.

Hi Guys, I really need advice on buying a used car. I currently have a proton persona which still has balance of somewhat around 15k and recently just gave birth to twins so all of a sudden my family of supposed to be 6 (which is fine using persona at least until finish loan) has become family of 7.

The problem right now is, babies use 2 car seats. So i really need to invest in a cheap 2nd hand MPV, just for travelling nearby, like sending kids to school and then me going to work (i work and arrange kids school during lunch hours).

Currently thinking of car around 2008-2010 (18k below) can anyone advise.

living alone in Penang, far from my wife and kids in Nilai due to work.

Going home visiting family once a week or two using the same car.

better comfort and safety car but maintenance and reliability with the FC is the main concern.

*
Pg - Nilai - Pg during weekends are no joke 800+KM 9-10 hours?

Can you stretch your budget (sell Kelisa later?) to 45K buy new Persona. Sacrifice FC a bit to keep your family main breadwinner safer.

*
Any of these u indicated (myvi, vios, city) will be safer than your kelisa for such long distances, need to be careful in getting a reliable unit though and allocate $$ for replacements in the case of those 6-7 year old cars.

Best to follow format ni to give more info what you need

5. Transmission : Automatic
6. NA or FI : -
7. Type : -
8. Remarks : If used, must be at least 2017.

Thinking about Myvi full spec, Ativa base model, or used Mazda 2 sedan. Would prefer a sedan, but not too big of a priority. Car will 95% of the time be used for city driving.

Also, can anyone recommend some reliable & trusted used car dealership in KL/Selangor/Penang?
*
There are no reliable used car dealers.

If you have a 60K budget, there must be a reason why you are considering used cars for mostly city drive. Do share the reasons

There are only 4 new cars below 40k - Axia, Bezza, Saga, Iriz

If you want SUV, has to be 2nd hand below 40K eg Kembara, Nautica.

Hi everyone!

1. Brand: Proton/Toyota/Honda
2. Budget: less than 100K
3. New/Used/Unreg.: New
4. Specs: have airbags
5. Transmission: automatic
6. NA or FI: not sure
7. Type: Sedan
8. Remarks: looking for a sedan that doesn't burn a hole in my pocket. currently i have a 2007 manual 1.0 viva. mum and brother has been suggesting (more like provoking) to me to upgrade the car. i still think the viva can still perform the daily home-work commute i.e. 40 km to and fro. so i don't feel the need to upgrade and tambah hutang. overall usage of the sedan: for mum to go to the masjid and for long distance driving (once this MCO is lifted)
*
Test drive Vios, City, Almera
Then testdrive Persona at half your budget. See if you want to pay the extra $$ for the Japanese models with additional hutang.

2. Budget : 250k Max (not even 1k higher)
3. New/Used/Unreg : New
5. Transmission : Auto
7. Type : Sedan only.
8. Remarks : Currently I am looking at Benz A200 Sedan, BMW 218i. But, I am open for any other recommendation. I prefer the size about my old Honda City idsi engine. I think is called C-Segment. (Sorry, not quite well verse with car terms).
*
Any reason why you are looking for 1.5L engines?
Cannot be roadtax savings rite? Since u are buying quarter million ringgit sedans.

Yup, the A200 & 218i are turboed 1.3 & 1.5l pulling heavy C-segment bodies. Would recommend you go test drive both

Then test drive the Mazda6 2.0 to compare for ard 60-70K cheaper. If you want more power, Mazda6 2.5 leaves the two continentals far in terms of refinement and class for slightly above 200K.

Hi,

Thank you for your recommendation. Between these 2, which would you recommend? I didnt look for 1.5L engines. What I meant is the size of the car something like city that big.
I look at Mazda 6 before, the size is quite big, my driving skill is quite bad. hahaha... I feel like driving a lorry. Btw, I am small size person.
*
My apologies, cars above 200K not my area of interest so any googling you probably can also do. Again, best to test drive any cars before purchase.

City idsi like 10years ago around 4.4 x 1.7 x 1.5 meters (L x W x H) considered B- Segment not C. Trends nowdays towards SUV rather than sedan hence X50 is a popular choice. For class and looks, CX-3 but slightly smaller than your City idsi

I'm currently driving a car with 1.0 engine, and suffice to say I wish it had more power when driving in certain situations i.e. when going uphill. That's why Ativa is not in the list.

I've had experience driving a perodua, proton and honda, and would like to try driving a car with a different handling. Heard good things about Mazda, although I cannot find much info on CX-3 ownership.

All in all, I am just using this platform to get views and feedbacks on different car models, and may just end up continue driving my current car.
*
Agree w Frog, Ativa is 1.0l turbo churning almost 100hp moving slightly more than 1000kg. Your current 1.0l might be < 70hp.

However if handling is highest priority, go test drive CX3 as the model has not changed past 5 years to get an idea of what a second hand one will feel like.

Also which Proton model u benchmark for handling?

2. Budget : Under 30k, 35k if really worth it
3. New/Used/Unreg : Used preferred. Ideally with warranty, maybe like a 2-4y/o ones?
5. Transmission : Auto
7. Type : sedan?
8. Remarks : Daily commute 60km highway involved.
First car for work.

Possibly the maintenance wont be as good as a new car, but there must be some reliability Gems out there no?

*
No one will sell budget range cars within a few years. Luxury cars yes cos they can afford to ignore the depreciation and are not tied down w loans.

At these price range, those available and still within warranty are likely to be lemons or accident/flood units. Hence, your strategy to look for such Gems will take time and knowledge.

The concern here would be if you can't spot them as lemons (being your first car? And not having specialized knowledge of particular makes eg Volkswagen) you might face unnecessary headache if taken for a ride by unscrupulous sellers or dealers of which there are plenty.

Hence, concerned /k members usually suggest new.
Such as Saga Std Auto 36K w 5yr warranty and should meet your 60km daily requirement easily
