Most of the time will be city driving back and forth between home and office plus 1 -2 times monthly travelling interstate.

2. Budget : 80k ~ 95k

4. Specs : preferrably suv

8. Remarks : reliability and less possibility on major parts repair

*
Want reliability, buy new car.

< 90K X50 Exec
< 80K Ativa AV

Do go and test drive.

Thinking to trade in 2013 myvi
our house already had 2 sedan (dugong and almera)
our 2015' forester.

Planning to get cross G spec, worth the money?
*
Is Toyota Safety Sense important ? Extra 6K under V spec

Forester cannot do KL - Malacca comfortably?
4 cars in one house. For you and wifey only ?

Hi
Booked an x70 in Feb but still haven’t received stock and now had a change of mind after seeing feedbacks on Fb groups

Now looking at Cx5,Crv Black Edition and Cross Hybrid

So confused

Married with 2 child

Any recommendations?
*
When u see certain "Editions", they trying to prolonged old Model sales before new model launches. In CR-V case likely next year. CX-5 also quite old also they keep giving minor touchups ?

Anyway, do test drive all three with whole family, see if you can live with certain function eg footbrakes.

Dear Sifus, please enlighten me. Planning to change my daily workhorse, <20km daily commute.
Current car (first car):
2005 vios clocked in 160,000km with 0 current issues.

Due to safety concerns I plan to purchase
used Mazda 6 2.5 2015 60k 5years loan

with all maintenance & road tax considered, is it a feasible choice?
*
A 7 yr old Dsegment sedan is safer than a 17 yr old Bsegment sedan in a 20km (urban?) setting if solely talking about size. Then might as well get a second hand 4x4 truck.

Else can check out the latest safety techs recently introduced if you are mainly using in a city environment eg ADAS features in a brand new SUV close to your 60K budget.

first time buying a car
Condition: New
Type: Sedan
Usage: City driving, occasional interstate travel (maybe like once every few months)
Remarks: Reliability and safety
Can also test drive the Ativa as another option sitting between the Vios and Persona budget wise. Although a SUV, it is an excellent city car and can do occasional interstate safely.

Would definitely avoid Bezza the worst handling car in Bolehland unless die die go for low FC sedan.

1. Brand : Perodua/Honda/Toyota
2. Budget : RM40,000 - RM60,000 (max budget)
3. New/Used/Unreg : New/Used
5. Transmission : auto/manual
8. Remarks : Good fuel compensation, Low maintenance cost, Comfortable ride, Able to drive in steep road (Paya Terubong Hill Road)
*
Can you use the new Bukit Kukus highway instead ? The Paya Terubong hill road gradient can be up to 20+ % so top priority would be torque, handling, brakes. Can disregard poor handling cars like Myvi, Bezza, Axia.

I would search for a second hand Iriz 1.6 manual else new Iriz 1.6 auto. Alternative would be new Saga manual upgrade to bigger rims for better grip.

Second hand Honda, Toyota with possible higher maintenance, will let others feedback.

Hmm...I see a lot of comments about the Proton car having higher fuel consumption than the Perodua.
Btw, why would you recommend Iriz and Saga? What about Persona? Is it less reliable than the other two?
*
Handling vs fuel consumption. Personally would choose better handling protons for the winding hilly roads on a daily basis.
But if you are experienced driver not driving rapidly, any Perodua can still do the job.

Iriz would have the better torque/weight ratio than
Persona (which is also 470mm longer hence not that nimble),

Saga is cheaper, 120kg lighter than Persona and still available new w manual gearbox for better control on the hills.

2. Budget: RM60k
3. New/Used/Unreg: Prefer new
7. Type: Preferably SUV or Sedan

my first car.
Mostly driving in KL with no long distance travel.
Heavily leaning towards Proton Persona Premium 2022.
Don’t want a Myvi.
top up a bit and get the Ativa mid spec (RM66k).
Any used cars can consider?
*
Unless your car knowledge already sufficient to handle used car, better get new where the service center can handle any problems under warranty.

If driving mostly in city, Perodua models with better fuel consumption is usually the choice over Protons handling capabilities at higher speeds on highways.

Persona has a more comfortable interior and larger space, Ativa has height and superior safety systems, only you can decide after test drive if worth paying extra 11K for Ativa H or 7K for Ativa X.

If budget is tight, and mostly slow drive ard KL ,
a new Bezza 1.3 X is only 43K
If 60-70K is not an issue, Ativa is best for handling slight floods, bad weather in KL

2. Budget: RM99k
3. New/Used/Unreg: Prefer new
7. Type: Preferably SUV or Sedan.
8. Remarks:
now comparing all these 5 but seems prefer New Almera Turbo. but is there any better option?

Honda City Sedan -  but too common
Honda City Hatchback - space not enough for family car
Toyota Vios -  exterior not to my liking. driving feels bored.
Mazda 2 Sedan - OK but too pricy.
New Almera Turbo - OK, fuel consumption better than all, almost comparable to Axia. beats down vios. Interior is spacious. seat is better than Honda. but i got no experience in turbo car.
*
These low boost turbos in everyday cars are not for performance and should not be challenging to maintain. If you looking at uncommon and fuel consumption, Almera > Vios & City. The concern is TanChong which u can read about in any forums.

Alternative options (not necessary better) are SUVs like X70 which will give u plenty of space, performance at the expense of fuel consumption.

Top up a bit, the current HR-V 1.8E @104K is an excellent highway cruiser before the new model comes in with 1.5l at 120+K

QUOTE(AlvinBear @ May 10 2022, 10:45 PM)

Im planning to change my Mazda CX-5 year 2016. Its my daily work car and mileage at about 260k+ already.

For my budget wise will be around Rm120k-140k. Im actually looking at USED Volkswagen Tiguan and BMW X1.

Just need some advice whether isit worth to change to a used conti suv? Or are there any good recommendations?

*
What are you looking for in your new SUV (does it even need to be another SUV?)

If you looking for better handling, there are the Subarus.
Reliability - Corolla Cross
Space - CRV
Acceleration - X70

Since mileage hit 40+KM/ year better get new?
Unless u know Tiguan or X1 common issues and know where to fix them quickly or have spare vehicle..

I wanted to get a new one for Tiguan or X1 just that budget wise, but its my first conti, isit really not worth to try a second hand? Since the price tag is quite attractive.
*
Myself purchased a secondhand HRV last year, it has been great.

Just that Contis usually have a higher total cost of ownership rather than just initial purchase cost so need to do sufficient research.

Mazda
couldnt perform much on power,
reliability wise is good.
Space wise is ok
power is not that good for 2.0cc.

I travel alot actually.
1 day 100km.

*
For power, how about turbo engines, but new units for reliability

7. Type : 4 seater.
8. Remarks : need a car quite urgently

Is nissan almera old model still open for sales? I heard there’s a discount for it
*
Proton Iriz is slow moving, should have ready stock depending on branch. Nippy great handling comfortable 4 seater.

If you really considering the 2012 Almera, might as well go after the existing Alza for better space and value (both terrible handling as bad as the Bezza but ok for sedate town drives)

Other Perodua models, Persona, Saga suspect longer wait list.

Is the Iriz back seat at all comfortable for adults? Thought it was pretty sempit.
*
Leg room is less than Myvi. But the seats are much more comfortable. And we talking about 2 at the rear (4 seater) ya.

Then go try Bezza rear seats. LOL

Myvi is the comparison la, not bezza. Bezza is axia, meant to be 2 seater car anyway. I have two boys who will eventually be quite tall so quite concerned about those back seats.
*
If u talking about leg space for your boys, then
Myvi > Bezza > Persona/ Iriz > Saga

I was talking about overall seat comfort as a plus point for Iriz as Lieblingsmonster was urgently looking for a new car.

Different topic ya

I am at my wits ends with getting this new car and have to get a 2nd hand car by the end of next month.

nitially was going to get a the new persona. Got my loan apporoved and all but the waiting period is getting out of hand. 2-4 months more to get it!

using loaner now hence the urgency).

*
Did u book the Persona premium or executive in March ?

How much to rent the loaner for another 1-3 monrhs after June ?

Premium, first week of Febuary. Decided to go with this variant as it offers more airbags.

As for the loaner, lets just say its not viable for me continue beyond June. I had only planned to borrow until Mac or April but I am extended now.

So any suggestions as to what I should get?
*
My thoughts,
Stick to getting Persona cos by June already wait 5 months.
Perhaps write an appeal letter to the Proton outlet u ordered. At least in black and white, get their acknowledgement.

Rather than abandon this order and go get a second hand car that might give problems difficult to solve.

Current loaner finish in June, rent another car for 1-2 more months? Perhaps some friends or relatives with spare car. Pay them

Im thinking to get a used ct200h but it cost like 50k for a 11 years old car and most if not all accummulate more than 150k km, not sure if it worth it or just get a prius at almost 20k cheaper. any comment guys?
*
Underneath the ct200h is actually the same Prius mechanicals.

The extra cost is for the branding and higher fittings. If you appreciate them, then can consider. If you just after the mechanicals a Prius would make more sense.
