i guess what they mean is nvidia only focus the latest game optimizations for latest gen like Pascal, so they less focused on optimizations for previous gen, whereas amd GCN architecture can improve some of the older gen cards performance via drivers so they are not so left out. some people still on 280x see nice performance boost in DOOM vulkan for example, for a rather old card it's still cheaper and better than GTX 960 in many games. cant say the same for GTX 770.

One can claim AMD has whatever DX12 boost and optimization but seriously, how far can you go when your card is limited? R9 380X? R9 390? That's GTX 970 level performance. No matter what optimization you get you're still behind that of a GTX 1070.

It's not difficult to understand. Technology is there, but technology can only go as far as your hardware limitation.

If technology is so good then RX 480 already can perform like GTX 1070.

i think is the development of vulkan/dx12 too slow opengl is not good on AMD, dx11 also subpar compared to Nvidia.

Nvidia chose to spend effort on optimizing it's DX11/OpenGL driver. AMD spent on hardware technologies like Async that can be leveraged in consoles.

Exactly my thoughts also. RX480 is performing around GTX970 performance and about the same price as GTX1060 and slightly higher than a GTX970 or same price (I also forgot).

Too much information. I am just going to follow stringfellow's advice and play more games as I have plenty of backlog games anyways.

Yup, life is so simple. Got money? Buy the best you can afford and go enjoy your games. I also have many games to play.

it is simple. just buy whichever you can afford that gives you best performance now, and dont look back lol.

What I read is, their card's FLOP performance are higher than nVidia's similar priced card. AMD's DX11 driver are bad, thus performance increase in DX12 are alot, when DX12 drive unlock the potentials. nVidia DX11 performance are optimize nicely already, thus no much room to improve in DX12/Vulcan.

When friend ask me to quote spec for new computer, basically I finish most h/w spec then throw the rest of the budget into graphic card.

They sent yesterday but not reach yet maybe tomorrow.

Abit sad when I found out our 1070 Gamerock not PE one PE OCed additional 1XX core and 2XX memory but for the price I'm happy
