Saw 980 ti ( new ) price drop to as low as RM1825 now, wondering if I should sell my few months old 970 and add few hundreds for 980 ti. Saw benchmark/review that it's somewhere very near 1070 performance. Or should I wait 1070 price drop

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 7 2016, 05:12 PM) The fight gets fiercer. So it's RX480 killer then. Maybe I could wait this card since they 'claimed' it's 980's performance.http://videocardz.com/61917/nvidia-geforce...ost-249-299-usd 1060, USD249 MSRP, Founders Edition USD299. July 19th worldwide. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First of all, f**k you Nvidia for that FE extra cost, you're bleeding the freaking budget demographics too!!? Second of all, still no top view to confirm the existence or disappearance of SLI fingers. IF there's only one SKU, and it's 6GB, and no SLI, that isn't right. So it may be true that the 1060 is 980's performance at stock and encroaching to the domain between 980-980Ti when overclocked. Nvidia scared to cannibalise their own 1070 card sale. Caveat: provided these slides are real. And yeah the hell with this FE thing. If high clock version then it's fine, but . . . . |

I think if it's faster than 980 then already good, now need to see what's the price. Last time X60 card float around 1K but now not sure.According to the video, before nVidia released GTX1070, nVidia mentioned GTX1070 was Titan X performance card. In actual, it is faster than Titan X. nVidia claimed GTX1060 is GTX980 card. Well, there is a possibility it can beat GTX980. If this card is indeed a GTX980 performance card, with 20% overclock headroom, it could beat AMD Fury X @ 1080p. And it could be very close to GTX980Ti. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So, it's a very interesting product. We keep our fingers crossed. Keep dreaming and drooling. InB4 tabuli ini machiam. nVidia locks 9 the overclock-ability of this card. Then it's KNN. QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Jul 8 2016, 01:32 AM) But cheapest 1070 is how much, I think it's similar to 980ti or slightly better ?This post has been edited by Someonesim: Jul 8 2016, 07:16 AM |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jul 8 2016, 02:10 PM) Yes. Reference GTX 1070 (and even with some OCing done). Means 980 ti with some OC will easily beat 1070 on current games, if want DX12 and some new tech in Pascal, then get 1070, sounds like good deal on 980 ti given price drop continue Try as I may, I just can't get it to overtake the GTX 980 Ti. The GTX 980 Ti does have memory bandwidth and CUDA core advantage. |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 8 2016, 02:45 PM) For the 980Ti, it's a clearance sale, meaning most likely less than 10 units, once sold, it's gone forever. Resellers here dont hold stocks anymore than 10. Only new stock, with preorder deposits paid for, then only they bring in larger numbers. Thanks for that info. Guess if I want to jump on 980 ti bandwagon, need to decide fast.I'm all too familiar with how resellers and distributors here work. They never stock high end stuff unless there's demand. I'm saw a LYN seller have Gigabyte 980 ti @ 1825 ( winforce ) and 1925 ( G1 gaming ), didnt check if got stock or not I wonder how will 980 ti OC vs 1070 for the next 2 years. Will 1070 gain much more performance boost with driver optimization during coming months/years, that it's much worthy to go 1070 path ? |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 8 2016, 03:06 PM) I rather look at it from what performance I can get now, rather in the next 2 years. Game engines gets more complex as we move into the future and that comes with performance penalties. Performance drops are inevitable even with driver optimization: the hardware spec is static but the needs is evolving/increasing. Unless you're willing to chase specs and upgrade every year, there's reasonable expectations that one day in the future a game will come that you can never play at your set resolution and settings anymore. When it comes to 980Ti vs 1070, you're buying more time for that scenario with the 1070. I used to have my rule of buying GPU not more than RM1000. That time, mid range GPU can handle all games with highest setting on my puny 1440x900 Now upgrading monitor resolution = more burden on GPU QUOTE(Demonic Wrath @ Jul 8 2016, 03:10 PM) Pascal with its dynamic load balancing will be more efficient compared to GTX980Ti. It handles overlapping workloads (graphic + compute) better than Maxwell. It is more resilient towards badly optimized code compared to Maxwell (i.e. long running compute task) Thanks both sifu, guess I'll hold a bit for 1070 to drop price or promotion. There's also the Simultaneous Projection thing. It is a more refined Maxwell. So IMO GTX1070 is a better choice. |

QUOTE(richard912 @ Jul 8 2016, 04:29 PM) Yeah....I guess the RX480 was the catalyst for Nvidia to release the 1060 to market much earlier. Strategically, I would have held off on the release if not for the RX480, so that the market can first absorb the 1070 and 1080. I read somewhere that AMD is now rushing to bring to market the Vega quicker. I really hope they do so that Nvidia can then bring on the 1080TI quicker in response I havent felt exciting for graphic card release for long time. Last few years, felt like nVidia always king and AMD always lower price.Only hope it's that exciting for our market to have price war pls |

QUOTE(TenSou @ Jul 8 2016, 01:39 PM) There's a gtx1070 available at gemfive atm, if you can use the 12% off code on it, you should be able to save at least RM200 on one. Edit: Just checked, it works. QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 9 2016, 02:54 PM) You see, whatever game you play right now, has assets buried in that game that looks incredible in 4K. You download 7GB, I download same size. You play in 1080p, I play in 4K. Your download size isnt smaller just because you play in 1080p nor does it affect your gaming in whatever resolution you choose. Your internet problem has nothing to do with what resolution you play: your internet problem has everything to do with whether you play games at all or not. Someone need link to buy Aloe Vera Playing in higher resolution depends on the performance of your rig, not its internet speed. You play what game, tell me? DOTA? CS:GO? You think the games like these matters ah in 4K or 1080p if your internet is shitty? At least you still can look at much better and detailed assets in 4K than in 1080, when you play offline. |

QUOTE(TenSou @ Jul 9 2016, 05:32 PM) The 1070 seller on gemfive restocked their supplies it seems. I hope you guys who ordered will get your items soon. Please do let us know if they're legit for the benefit of other members who might be interested to get one at a lower price. I go ahead because his price wasnt even low, it's standard ( as found in Lazada ), we get it cheaper was due to gemfive's coupon code discount PS: I am not affiliated to the seller whatsoever so don't come at me with pitchforks if it ends up being a fraud. |

I had the Zotac 970 reference, last/this year's games with max graphic setting only run around 40-60fps on 1080P.For future proofing sake, I think skip 970 and wait 1060 or add more budget for 1070 |
