First of all, f**k you Nvidia for that FE extra cost, you're bleeding the freaking budget demographics too!!?

Second of all, still no top view to confirm the existence or disappearance of SLI fingers. IF there's only one SKU, and it's 6GB, and no SLI, that isn't right. So it may be true that the 1060 is 980's performance at stock and encroaching to the domain between 980-980Ti when overclocked. Nvidia scared to cannibalise their own 1070 card sale.

According to the video, before nVidia released GTX1070, nVidia mentioned GTX1070 was Titan X performance card.
In actual, it is faster than Titan X.
nVidia claimed GTX1060 is GTX980 card. Well, there is a possibility it can beat GTX980.

If this card is indeed a GTX980 performance card, with 20% overclock headroom, it could beat AMD Fury X @ 1080p.
And it could be very close to GTX980Ti. 


So, it's a very interesting product. We keep our fingers crossed. Keep dreaming and drooling.

IIRC, previous generations of x60 cards usually come with very little ram and 128bit memory interface. This time it's 192 and with a lot more rams so it probably is as they claimed.

The GTX 980 Ti does have memory bandwidth and CUDA core advantage.

For the 980Ti, it's a clearance sale, meaning most likely less than 10 units, once sold, it's gone forever. Resellers here dont hold stocks anymore than 10. Only new stock, with preorder deposits paid for, then only they bring in larger numbers.

I'm all too familiar with how resellers and distributors here work. They never stock high end stuff unless there's demand.

I rather look at it from what performance I can get now, rather in the next 2 years. Game engines gets more complex as we move into the future and that comes with performance penalties. Performance drops are inevitable even with driver optimization: the hardware spec is static but the needs is evolving/increasing. Unless you're willing to chase specs and upgrade every year, there's reasonable expectations that one day in the future a game will come that you can never play at your set resolution and settings anymore. When it comes to 980Ti vs 1070, you're buying more time for that scenario with the 1070.

Pascal with its dynamic load balancing will be more efficient compared to GTX980Ti. It handles overlapping workloads (graphic + compute) better than Maxwell. It is more resilient towards badly optimized code compared to Maxwell (i.e. long running compute task)

There's also the Simultaneous Projection thing.

It is a more refined Maxwell.

So IMO GTX1070 is a better choice.

Yeah....I guess the RX480 was the catalyst for Nvidia to release the 1060 to market much earlier. Strategically, I would have held off on the release if not for the RX480, so that the market can first absorb the 1070 and 1080. I read somewhere that AMD is now rushing to bring to market the Vega quicker. I really hope they do so that Nvidia can then bring on the 1080TI quicker in response

1440p will never become the norm. The market is just forcing everyone to go 4k instead, with the same old 60hz refresh rates.

There's a gtx1070 available at gemfive atm, if you can use the 12% off code on it, you should be able to save at least RM200 on one.

I think AMD's idea of beating the GTX 1080 is to CFX RX 490.

You see, whatever game you play right now, has assets buried in that game that looks incredible in 4K. You download 7GB, I download same size. You play in 1080p, I play in 4K. Your download size isnt smaller just because you play in 1080p nor does it affect your gaming in whatever resolution you choose. Your internet problem has nothing to do with what resolution you play: your internet problem has everything to do with whether you play games at all or not.

Playing in higher resolution depends on the performance of your rig, not its internet speed. You play what game, tell me? DOTA? CS:GO? You think the games like these matters ah in 4K or 1080p if your internet is shitty? At least you still can look at much better and detailed assets in 4K than in 1080, when you play offline.
