Bro Tim,

How is you baby? Name? How mummy?

Back on topic, how is your TW700 doing nowaydays? My TW700 is performing really well, averaging 8 - 10 hours a week. Never skipped a beat.

I question for bro dirt and u, my unit is approaching 150hrs, and I think the picture is starting to dim, but none of my family members notices it. Is it just my eyes playing tricks on me? What is the hours on your bulb and do u notice any dimming?

Hi Bro J,

Uhmm, kinda funny tat ... my unit is ok where brightness is concerned .. in fact if u ask me de pics are getting better than de first time I powered it on... in fact last night watched a bit of de docu Planet Earth - Poles to poles and de scene in de arctic tundra of polar bears is so clear and white dat de polar bears look yellow in colour ... uhm my unit is in its 140th hour or so... and I am using TB1 mode but then again I watch mainly at nite only...

Maybe its de particular movie u watched ... kut ... I watched Fantastic 4- TRotSS and de scene where de FF were chasing Dr Doom on de SS's board was very dark too , not much detail but I think it was meant like dat even when I watched de movie in de cinema, if not mistaken...

Cheers

I've decided to go for Sony Bravia AW-15 projector. Anyone here using this projector ? Mind share your experience.

And, also planning to upgrade my amp to Marantz SR-4001 or Pioneer VSX-LX50 (if got extra money).

I'm toying with the idea of getting a projector for my room. Thinking of putting a pulldown screen in front of the desk, 90" diagonal or so. Thinking of mounting the projector behind the fan, you can see the wires coming down from the ceiling in the picture. The distance from the wires to the edge of the desk is around 12'. What do you guys think? Doable? hmm.gif

Right now I'm trying to find out the exact price for the screen, mountings, cables and installation. Hopefully this time the project can go ahead and not abandoned like last year doh.gif laugh.gif

Check out the following link. Choose the projector that you're thinking of getting and you should get a rough idea how far the projector should be from the creen for your desired image size.

Its doable, but like everyone says, find the projector that can throw a 90' diag picture from 12'. Pne u have a list of these projectors, try to audition them and pick the best that suit your budget..... THEN only work in the rest of the installation like cabling screen etc. You have to start at the projector first!!!

Firstly ask how big a picture u want? THe whole idea of a Home theatre is so that you get that immersive experience that u get in a cinema. Too big or too small also no good. Factors to cosider is how near/ far from the screen, enough room for all the electronics, projector and screen......

Mount a screen on the ceiling..... does this mean u want a retractable screen that will roll up to the ceiling when not in use? If so it can start from as low as RM600 to RM100,000 rclxub.gif . THe affordable ones are the ones sold in computer shops for office presentation purposes. They are OK for the price, usually not very flat but usable. Draper etc do manufacture retractable screens but then u must be prepared to pay.

Saw in the papers today that musical image is selling the Panasonic AX100E for RM5990. Last year when I went there to demo the AE900 I was told that mountings and cables will be around RM1000 and a 92" pulldown screen is just under RM1k. Might go there after raya to demo the AX100E. The reviews for it are pretty good. It seems that the placement for this projector is very flexible. The price for the projector setup is comparable to a good 42" LCD hmm.gif

Hi,

I ended wif a custom made screen using an mdf board wif a very durable matt white skin on one side - size of 96 X 54" ... not de best but I am happy wif wat I paid for it...

On pull down screens ... it is better to have fixed screens as pull down usually will suffer from waves and flapping from de aircon or fan and dat can be a real turndown...

On de Ax100 ... just a heads up - read AX 100... a good read of a 100 pgs ... will make u think ... kekeke brows.gif

BTW de AX200 is now hot in de US ...

Ha ha ha,

U r asking de wrong chap here ... I m on de epson camp... u need to ask a user like Bro Tim la... he has used one before ...

FWIW I did shortlist de Panny ax100 before I decided on de epson ... go read de avs pgs la bro then u decide for urself...

De panny ae900 is even older than de ax100 provided u can find one new tat is...

Optoma hd70 is a dlp and not so flexible in setting up - u might want to look into dat ...

Cheers
