I'm still looking for a demo of the Panasonic AE-1000, Still waiting for mediaplex to demo the Mitsubishi HC-5000. God, my search for a projector never ends cry.gif

It seems like for 1080p projector, the AE1000 is not the best among the few players. Try check www.projectorreviews.com for more info.

Planning to get a projector in the near future as well, but i can only use it in my medium room which is roughly 12x9 feets. Would it be too small for a projector? And how big the projector screen is best for a room with this size?

OK, this is what you can do...

Whether its a 720p or 1080p... this is up to you. But of course, if your screen big, higher resolution will give u better satisfaction.

12 x 9 ft room is ok. What you can do is, get an idea where to place the projector... get either Panny or Epson as these 2 models got high zoom lense therefore flexible.

Then, once you got your projector, project it onto the wall. Sit on your sofa and see whether you like the screen size. Then you measure and either order or custom make.

This will assure you won't get klass kambing when watch movie...

Thanks for the suggestion. I think i will get the 720P first as the 1080P is so darn expensive and no source to be found locally yet. So how much do your AX100 cost? around 6 to 7K right? And where do u get your screen as i believe it would be much cheaper to DIY it, well not for the framing though...

I do realise that I've read lmost every review on the 1080p projectors, but I feel better reviewing it myself in person.

The Panasonic is the cheapest here though at 15k

but we still don't know about the HC5k's price

could be cheaper

I can't afford the 1080p, so, I didn't really bothered finding out the pricing on these...

Yup... thats a good place to get the correct screen size. If not, Panny's website also do the same by specific model.

Where are the places in PJ/KL for good bargains on projectors and HT amp/speakers?

Only places I know are CMY, Mediaplex, Desa complex and few at Amcorp Mall. But prices-wise, not sure which has the best.... some carry different brands, so can't compare. Also heard a shop called Musical Image.

From the listings in this thread there are quite a number of people looking for projectors both for 720p and 1080p native resolutions. You should always demo the various units in order to make an informed decision. Visit the multitude of forums to obtain feedback from owners.

Now it is usually not easy to locate demo units, but not impossible. The easiest is to call the HQ up and ask them for a demo or at least to point you towards a distributor that has demo units. It has worked for me. Here is a pic of the Epson TW700 that I and another forumer ordered.... we are a party of 2 rclxm9.gif .

Here's a picture.....

For those that have demoed any unit, please come and share your thoughts here.

Good hunting.

Hi Guys,

I have just started a community service. Since I have done a lot of research on LCD projectors and prices, I have decided not to let that go to waste, and have the community benefit from it. Feel free to inquire.

Inroducing my Epson EMP TW700. Its up and running, and started playing with it, setting up and watching it last night. Lets just say I have not slept a wink since Friday 11:00pm.

Heres a photo journal of the projector:

Heres the Box, survived the trip from Singapore intact.

A closer look of the box advertising the projector inside.

Open up the box and you will find the manuals (chinese and english only), remote control and power cord.
Attached Image

Attached Image

Here is a closer look of the remote control. Incidently since I decided not to get the panny AX100, Epson thought it would benice to send me Panny's AA battery for use in the remote tongue.gif
Attached Image

Remove the carboard containing the manuals and stuff, u arrive at the projector. Its pretty large and heavy. Its wrapped securely in foam.
Attached Image

Take the projector out from the box carefully.
Attached Image

Remove the foam and you find a beatiful projector. Wonderfully sculpted. Notice the foam right behind the lense, used to hold the assembly securely during transportation

Onboard controls. Something you will rarely use!!

Next I hook up the power cord and turn on the unit. The first thing I do is adjust the focus and zoom using the on board pattern.

The blue screen has perfect colour uniformity. However I noticed that the 3 LCD panels were mislaligned by 1 pixel down and to the right. Not noticeable from viewing distance though.

Next I start watching movies..... till 8am. My son is awake and I am going to attend to him for a while. I have the projected pictures posted later today.

Cheers

sad.gif unfinished wall electric outlets blush.gif ..... shy only. My AV room still a work in progress. So I am projecting onto a matt white wall.

I intend to put up a floor to ceiling "thing" that will house the screen and lights etc.... Something like this... but nicer....
Attached Image

Pictures of the projected image have to wait till tomorrow. Have not sorted them out and have to attend to the family now....

Cheers
