To be honest even I didn't know about it. Until I picked up one of Dreamworks' 3D movies. At the back it said "This Blu-ray 3D disc is also able to play in 2D mode". But for Rio and Ice Age 4 there was no such wording. I just bought it because I already hava a 3D TV, so what do I have to lose. Out of curiosity I tried it on my 4K TV (non 3D), and it worked!

Oh I missed one more title earlier. How to Train Your Dragon 3D can also be played on non 3D TV.

I manage to grab some but it's RM 10 per title one.
All 3D Blu-ray + Blu-ray.

I ask the shop, they told me open until August,  2020 only.
So grab while you can.

If the disc only 1 single disc and label 3D only, then that copy don't have 2D version.
They do have such version selling in speedy, so need to be very careful as 3D version need 3D player + 3D TV, else it won't play.

2 disc version will have proper label Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray.

I'm aware of the titles with 2D+3D discs in the package of course. I own a ton of 3D movies. The majority of 3D titles do have separate 2D and 3D discs. You can't play the 3D version on a non 3D TV as you said.

But there ARE certain titles that actually contain the 2D and 3D versions on one disc. Most of them are from Dreamworks. And some are from Fox. These are the titles I personally own, which I bought from Speedy a long time ago.

All the Shrek movies should be the same, although I don't own Shrek 1-3 on 3D. But the majority of other 3D titles can't play on non 3D TVs though. Anything from Sony or Disney. Anything from Paramount. Same with Universal.

i have to agree with bro andrewtst on this issue. if it is a single disc 3D version, it only plays 3D, no 2D... at least when referring to the one sold at SPEEDY which i believe is an Asian Region A

and for your info, the three Shrek movies 1-3 in 3D sold at SPEEDY for RM10 each i think; contains only the 3D version. just the other day my friend bought all three Shreks 3D (1-3) and thinking it has 2D version can't play on his normal BD player & TV    now he's trying to sell it back... luckily he unwrapped just one to check

Again, in most of the titles, if it comes with the 3D disc only, then it can't be played on non 3D TVs. Very specifically, only some of these can be played on non 3D TVs. I personally have these titles below, which I just tested again on my non 3D TV yesterday. I assure you it will work. When you insert it into the Bluray player, you will be asked which version do you want to play. Of course if you select the 3D version you will still get the usual "can't be played on this TV" message. All of them were bought from Speedy.

My 4K UHD player do support Blu-ray 3D but not the TV, I think kind of hard find 3D TV now, I sudden feel want it but not sure where to get a good one with reasonable price.

Yep, i have 4 incoming from Amazon US. Amazon UK shipping seems more expensive compared to the last time i bought from there. Even more expensive than US shipping

I ended up buying 2 from Speedy while waiting for the slow shipment from US.
Bought Solo: A Star Wars Story and the 20th Anniversary version Saving Private Ryan. Although Solo is among the worse native 4K compared to the rest of the franchise I got it since I’m a SW fan anyway.
Saving Private Ryan’s remastering and especially Atmos mixing is a great step up from the older DTS version.

i believe you ordered from Amazon US?  did you choose priority shipping? normally that would take 3-4 days to arrive, but during this period, if it takes more than that there's no point choosing that option with that price IMO

Regarding Solo, are you referring to the movie as a whole or the technicality factor of the 4K? just curious...

i would agree SPR in 4K would be so awesome, even the DTS dvd version already that good; especially during the Omaha beach invasion

I believe he means Solo: A Star Wars Story having the worst in 4K for the entire Star Wars. I agreed with that, Solo is pretty bad transfer compare with others. Also Solo color themes is out from the rest, doesn't match at all with the rest.

I can't remember which shipping option i chose, it was in between the standard and the most exp one. Standard takes too long, from at least 3 weeks to 1 month+. And shipping price is more expensive now too

oh ok, hmm that's pretty weird for a new movie to be labelled as "worst" in 4K technically; after comparison to the other Star Wars releases. or maybe could it be that the tone and color direction that Ron Howard and Bradford Young chose that are inconsistent to the other series in the saga... which may result in it being not-so-good 4K star wars?

btw as a side note, Solo is the only star wars movie that i haven't watched yet (i missed it during the cinema run and have not the chance to watch it after). i do hear a lot of not-so-favourable reviews regarding it, although some said not too bad... and others just meh. just wondering what Lord & Miller could've done with their version of Solo
