QUOTE(clofae @ Aug 2 2016, 09:32 AM) My advice is don't think so much about salary especially your first job here in sg. Just concentrate on gaining experience, the money will soon follow. All the best! Gain network, follow by experience, then only money - that's the formula for success.

QUOTE(shawnmy @ Aug 2 2016, 09:11 PM) At the moment, that is the only option i have. I'm planning to bring my family together with me. I can't afford to rent 1 hdb or condo at SG Forget about those ill advises that give you negative feedback about relocation choices. As a spouse or parent whatever choices you made for your family: Stay put at hometown Bring to stay together in S'pore Bring nearer but stay in JB Only YOU know the best for your family. As a forumer we can only highlight to you the pros & cons, not make the choices for you

QUOTE(Freedom15 @ Aug 3 2016, 11:32 AM) No family is a bit rough don't you think so? loll But insurance packages are better to be bought during younger age coz the premium will be lower... Buy insurance when you perceived risk (like accident, poor health, loss of income, fire disaster, etc) is better to be borned by insurer. Don't buy just because you are young and premium is cheap (that's insurance agent gimmick). Honestly speaking I actually hear many bad insurance buying decision than the good side of it. So do your due diligence I have 2 insurance clients which I look into their processes. Their underwriters easily approve young applicants policy because statistically these group of people are less prone to problems. It's a good income for the insurers

QUOTE(LalaluSan @ Aug 4 2016, 11:36 AM) Based on my friends explanation, foreigners like us would required to register with MOM for the place we are going to stay. Therefore, ppl like me (1st time staying in SG) are recommended to find an agent, as they will do all this process for us. Correct me if im wrong sifus No such thing.

QUOTE(bluffmaster @ Aug 8 2016, 09:17 AM) Thanks. But i heard if we call from Sg using certain plans both the caller and the receiver will get charged. So just wanna clarify on that. Only certain prepaid has that limitation. Postpaid no issue Telco in SG still not market liberal. Charge when receive calls, can't MNP from Prepaid to Postpaid, expensive postpaid plans, etc. Due to monopoly and government linked

QUOTE(rookie93 @ Aug 9 2016, 09:00 PM) will they have a lot of questions if I ask to withdraw in $1000 notes? wanna do FD but i dont dare to do fresh fund FDs online.. thats too big an amount if something goes wrong and numbers disappear They will politely ask. Just give honest answers. But then again like most forumers comment - that $10k is not really alot. This kind of transaction is very normal in front office.

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Aug 11 2016, 09:55 AM) Recently ive been approached by a bank in malaysia to move back..really weighing the move Hypothetical pay figures for illustration : Annual package in sgd (now): sgd65k (before bonus but its pathetic anyway) Proposed myr annual package : myr114k (before bonus, expected to be similarly pathetic) Promotion chances in both sides pretty much non existent, but im a little higher up the pecking order in the malaysia bank. What would you do? Do consider your take home pay after income tax. For that M'sia salary, your income tax is high (24% if not mistaken). Unless you return home under REP program, where it comes with perks of buying CKD cars with no tax, lower income tax, etc - however not applicable if you are returning from S'pore

Many manufacturing companies are scaling down if not moving out from S'pore. As such market is flooded with engineers looking for jobs
You might want to lower down your expectations since you are coming as foreigner
