QUOTE(myeong86 @ Oct 28 2016, 02:13 PM) 1. 1st time buy shd be $15. Need registered with passport. Can buy at 7-11. Thanks for reply. And the room tenancy, what is the normal notice period to give the landlord for terminating the room rental?2. Not sure, no TV for me. But from TV at foodcourt, showing Taiwan Hokkian drama, no eng sub. 3. Once you confirm to take the room, then u need to pay deposit. Rental can be later. Usually is 1 month + 1 month deposit. Stamp duty for tenancy agreement also by tenant. Not much, mine just $28 something. |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 30 2016, 03:00 PM) I think mostly 3 months. Then if before contract end, need pro-rate the deposit paid by the other party i.e if tenant want to end the contract before end of contract period (normally 1 year) say 3rd month of contract, he needs to pay 9 month worth of the half month deposit paid by the landlord. ~75% of half month deposit. Sorry, I don't understand what you wrote. Are you saying that the minimum contract rental is 3 months and if you stay only 2 months, you still have to pay landlord 3 months rental. Is this what you are saying? If Ok so far, ...But the contract we will be signing is usually for one year...and as part of the contract, we shall pay the landlord a deposit of Half-a-month and if he ends the contract by the 3rd month, only 25% (i.e. 3/12) of the half-month deposit is returned to the tenant. Is my interpretation of what you wrote correct? This post has been edited by darrenboy: Oct 30 2016, 04:17 PM |

QUOTE(fcuk90 @ Oct 30 2016, 07:11 PM) Depends on situation, most of the time landlord will "makan" all your deposit paid if you want to terminate before the contract end. I asked landlord and he said if terminate in 3 mth, all the deposit will be forfeited. Deposit is one mth rental, right?Btw, usually you guys move in to the room first before the landlord files your tenancy with HDB or the landlord must file your info with HDB prior to you moving in? What's the whole process of the tenancy for renting a room? This post has been edited by darrenboy: Oct 30 2016, 09:24 PM |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Oct 31 2016, 05:49 AM) Sorry sorry... I meant to say agent fee. No the deposit won't be forfeited. Deposit only forfeited if you leave without notice. If you inform one month in advance, just use it to cover that month's rental. I think so... Thanks for both your replies.Btw, if you are staying with the landlord, do they provide you guys with 1. Toilet rolls 2. Pillow 3. Bolster 4. I suppose bedsheet and Pillow/Bolster cover have to buy our own, correct? |

In order for landlord to process the tenant agreement with us, what do they need from us? I haven't even got the work permit/whatever permit yet. So how to sign up the rental agreement?
Please share your experiences. In your cases, you guys already got your job permit before you sign the rental agreement? |

QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Nov 8 2016, 09:39 PM) I took one year off, leave on the dot at 5.30 and I still get an A for my appraisal. If performance is measured by no. of days working or time spent in the office, they better off hire a cow You took one year off? Unpaid I suppose. Can meh?And on taking long leave, I don't think only unproductive people take long leave....or that those taking long leave means they are unproductive. Sometimes there are other aspects of live you need to take care of. This post has been edited by darrenboy: Nov 8 2016, 11:32 PM |

I need to ask about mobile broadband.
Say now we are subscribed to a Malaysian Telco broadband. When we go to Sgp, does it still work if you turn off "data roaming"? The answer is "No" am I correct? If it is turn on, the Msian Telco will hitch a ride on a Sgp Telco (e.g. Singtel) and then we can use the mobile internet, right? But by turning on the "roaming", is the Malaysian Telco provider going to charge us additional $$$ in our bill (whether postpaid or prepaid)? If we subscribe to one of those "limitless data, limitless calls, sms" package, does it mean we don't need to subscribe to a Sgp Telco package? Appreciate if someone can clarify as I don't quite understand this broadband thingy. This post has been edited by darrenboy: Nov 15 2016, 06:27 PM |

QUOTE(shawnmy @ Nov 16 2016, 08:20 AM) At the moment, i don't think we have unlimited data/call package plan from any telco. For celcom wonder roam. For unlimited data.. You just need to pay Rm 38 per day or rm 138 for 1 week. This one if im not mistaken is only for data. You will be charge separately for call/sms. For umobile, if you have subscribe umobile more than 6 months, you can enable the data roaming at singapore. You can utilize the malaysia data quota at singapore without any extra charges. QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Nov 16 2016, 01:05 AM) But there's telco like Umobile offering free data roaming in certain countries (in our case, Singapore) for free for certain more high end packages. I went to enquire webe mobile - now offering unlimited data, call and sms, but the package would not work in Sgp - Need to pay additional RM300 deposit and RM39 per day roaming. For umobile, read: http://www.u.com.my/plans/roaming-idd/data-backpack#plans Unsure for other telcos. You can lookout for similar things from other telco but I think there isn't any. For me, I need to make lots of calls for my work nature. Not worth getting data plan from Umobile to be used here. The roaming call charges can kill me anyday. Currently using Singtel SIM Only plan. The most basic package is only $20 + $5 caller ID = ~$26. I added 800mins pay around $36 per month. If use in MSia, then okay lar.... IwanAGP- your Singtel package S$20 is how much GB data? Umobile allow Sgp roaming only if use for 6 months? Then I am not qualified for this package. |

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Nov 17 2016, 10:07 AM) 6 months is to qualify for roaming without deposit. I don't think I want to pay deposit. If I port over from Hotlink prepaid, how to prove roaming? There is no detailed Hotlink statements, just like for postpaid. if you port over, u can still qualify for roaming without deposit IF you can prove that you have roaming from previous telco within last 6 months (if not mistaken). if the above 2 cannot be fulfilled, pay the deposit for roaming then. QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Nov 16 2016, 11:49 PM) Yeah... I secured a slot coming week logging in at 12 last end of month. Got one slot right next day (on the day i login for appointment) but my stuffs not ready yet. Quite a number of open slots to choose from. IwanAGP, Your SingTel, Is it post paid or pre-paid?No idea. My singtel is 3GB. By the way, all the flights from Malaysian to Singapore will be higher by RM65 due to a new passenger tax imposed by our PM in his recent Budget 2017. Now I am so sad. Everything also increase increase...... This post has been edited by darrenboy: Nov 17 2016, 11:49 AM |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Nov 23 2016, 11:27 PM) None... I see. seems like to need to clarify w HR.IPA is just a softcopy sent to you you print out and carry with you as a proof that you have gotten the approval to work and stay in SG before you get your EP. With the IPA and Medical Check up result, you/your HR can arrange the appointment with MOM EP Service Center to go for submitting the documents and also take photo + thumbprint. This one only you can do. After that that EP will be sent to your company address by mail in 4 working days. Then you collect from your HR. That was the process for me 2 years+ back. Maybe something has changed? Not sure. By the way, do you guys leave your passport and other docs in your rented room or take it with you everywhere you go out? Do you feel safe leaving it in your room? I suppose if you trust your landlord, then it's ok. This post has been edited by darrenboy: Nov 24 2016, 12:27 PM |
