Any of you from Sabah, Sarawak or northern Peninsular? Have you guys booked the tickets home for CNY? I see that the flight costs are unbelievably high, and getting fewer.

Monitor and buy up to 1 year earlier. So 2018 CNY  can start looking in Feb 2017 dy
*
You so sure you are still working in Sgp in 2018? I scared no more ticket for CNY 2017 if buy later even though I haven't yet started. Even though it's already expensive, it will increase higher later, or worse, no more ticket.

Anyone knows if it's possible to take train back from SGP to Prai? What are the stations to board and where to change train (if any)? I heard it is not a direct train.

Take from jb Sentral, should have. Try check on KTM web
*
I have already checked. There is NO direct train. From Woodlands, have to take 3 different trains and total traveling time to Prai station is 13 hrs, assuming no delays. Meaning I wud need to apply extra day leave for just traveling! Early morning travel and night time 9.30pm only arrive in Bworth, not even home yet. :-(

*
Yes, Wdlands to JBS, then JBS to Gemas, and from Gemas to BW. Long journey. Won't be in time for reunion dinner. Have to go one day b4, which I don't want as I don't hv leave.

*
Serious ah? Don't scare ppl lar. Is Yishun's crime rate as high as JB, although I don't know what is JB's crime rate? Do you feel safer in JB than Yishun? Also what do you mean by weird stuff?

Q - Gemas to BW, is direct ETS or need to change at KL?
*
It's ETS direct, as per the KTM schedule. If take bus, will get stuck in CNY road traffic jams. But yes, I agree that every option have its pros and cons. But I don't like buying ticket from Larkin. Got cheated before. Bought ticket last time and when go there, they tell me no bus or something. Have to wait another few hours to get another bus and some more not to the destination I want. Will forever be a bad experience for me - Larkin.

Dear Darren boy, u either make sacrifices take early one day unpaidleave , or u can take the night train, most properly u can reach Butterworth in the afternoon , as if u can buy the tix

I missed the good old days , direct sleep berth night train , frm jb to kl , reach around 7am, but all gone like wind , no more since the fuking ets come out , now take flight every alternate weeks and cost x3 or x4 compared to last time
*
There is no more night train - no such timing appeared in the KTM schedule.

Thanks. But the train schedule is it reliable? I think sure got delays...so you can't buy your ticket cun-cun get-off-one-and-get-on-the-other. Sure in the end 14-15 hours to reach BW. dry.gif

Who in the right mind will be willing to move for that

If you are jobless now, it is better to get S$3 -4K than nothing, even tho you may be getting RM10k b4 jobless.

That is obviously not the situation presented
Even getting RM2k is better than RM10k before jobless of course....
*
Your example is not realistic. In the example given, I think S$4k is still acceptable becos if translated to RM, it is still about RM12k, which is higher than what he earned at RM9k or RM10k. In this case, you ignore the cost of living. I am trying to say S$4k is still justifiable. If it's just S$2k, then maybe not.

My point is that is not the scenario he was asking about (jobless)
He is asking with a current job of RM10k being offered SGD 3.5-4.0k making the "better than being jobless" statement redundant
*
I know of real cases like what I was describing, whereby you can accept a job of S$4k, even though you were earning RM10k. It actually doesn't matter he was jobless or not. He could very well be jobless, but even if that's not the case, if he really wants the job, I am saying, it's not inconceivable for that guy to accept the job.

I was shocked to find Expedia more expensive for the same flight - RM3000. Almost fainted when I see it. 😂

1. For EP holders, is the employer supposed to provide life, PA and medical insurance coverage, or is it only for those WP holders?

2. Does your landlord need to register you as tenant before you stay- or is it okay to register after you stay ?

If it's work injury, it's covered under: http://www.mom.gov.sg/faq/employment-pass/...ered-under-wica

I am sad because my company doesn't provide life/H&S medical insurance. :-( May need to buy insurance in Sgp. Does the premium qualify for tax deduction in Singapore (just like in Msia)?

2. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/cs/infoweb/residenti...ing-of-bedrooms
7 days from commencement. So 7 days from first day of your contract

So, it means I can go stay there first then only the landlord informs HDB. ok, thanks.

The MOM does not require the company to provide medical H&S for EP holders. My company also doesn't provide. 😭😭 so sad, no coverage. Does SGP income tax provide tax relief for insurance premiums paid by tax payers themselves?
