lol why is it rare to see female tag here? is it cuz girls only go to sg where they have connections and relatives there? unsure.gif
ya i read abt the salary rise also, but i dont think any fresh grads can get salary that high for their 1st job with nil experience

can i ask how further is further? can reach workplace within 1-1.5hrs by mrt or bus? i know sg is small maybe just like penang?

thx for all the reviews on accom! really appreciate it thumbup.gif
*
Yeah quite rare here in this forum. Of all female friends i know, none is aware and using this forum. None. Haha

1hour on public transport should be max. But depends on how far you stay away from MRT and how to access your office also. If you need to take feeder bus to MRT transfer to train then get off at MRT need to take another feeder confirm going to take much longer time.

I take bus all the way to work place. Less human more seats more room to breath more private space biggrin.gif

You don't get what I meant don't you?

Talking about salary...

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Actually kinda lucky of me. Almost 2 years back landed my current and my first job in SG and my first job in life at quite an average or slightly below average salary in my field. Had 4 adjustments till date now taking about 40% higher pay compared to 2 years back.

But the work experience isn't entirely pleasing. Luckily the pay made up for some part of that biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Spending also went up exponentially doh.gif

Used to survive on 550 for rental, 450 for misc (food, transport, mobile, groceries, entertainment etc etc). Now is 650 for rental, another 650-800 for misc doh.gif Haven't account for my excluded expenses (those not day-to-day expenses like getting new shirts/gadgets/birthday presents etc etc)

Insaneeeeeeeeeee innocent.gif

Compare to Malaysia, take away rental , how much things u can buy frm 650 to 800 expenses monthly in ringgit

biggrin.gif

Haven't mention savings. Still got quite a bit of savings.

But 2 years savings can't even afford the downpayment for a car in SG, not to mention a property in SG doh.gif

Btw anyone got any lubang on property worth buying in JB? Best if the rental can cover the installment.

ggwp... so foreigner like us, can just simply rent a place to stay? Go and back from work as per usual without worrying anything like in Malaysia room rent?

You can update through your employer. Your employer has to keep the record and update it in MOM system of your latest address.

biggrin.gif So you all got pay hike?

QUOTE(clofae @ Aug 5 2016, 09:07 AM)
Well, this agent (sorry I refuse to say "my agent" as he wasn't exactly servicing me) at first told me he's not charging me agent fees but after learning that I was interested in renting that room, he begin twisting his story, manipulating his words, and dunno somehow the room I view actually co-broke with his other partner. Although it seems to be legal, co-broking a rented room is not widely practiced and the fact that he wasn't honest and upfront about this thing wasn't cool with me. So, I just dropped it.

At the end of the day, he can't force it on me as he's actually the landlord's agent, not mine. To protect yourself, make sure you're well-informed of what should be their practices. Attached file is for your reference and info. Hope that helps. bruce.gif So far, I've shifted 3 times and found my previous + current place without any agent help and thankfully, no problems so far.  rolleyes.gif
*
Am aware of this but gave up as I found the right room. In the first place the agent engaged me asking whether I'm authorizing her as my representing agent. So... Something fishy but whatever.

They're trying to make a living also anyway.

Normally the kind of topics I find it's quite sensitive and awkward to talk with locals are:

1. National service for males there. PR vs. S'porean vs. foreigners
2. Corruption gossip in corporate and gov services
3. No muslims serving certain defence role. For the fear of espionage since S'pore is surrounded by Muslim countries, scare of attack
4. Treatment of scholars compared to others

hello... I have a question, appreciate if somebody can help...
I got an interview at Macpherson road, I plan to take bus back to KL this Friday evening right after the i'view.
Any suggestion for the nearest bus stop with more choices? I want to buy the ticket on the spot.
*
You might want to secure a ticket first. Why not just go for the later ones so you guarantee can catch the bus and probably spend some time in SG.

It's Friday night so the ticket might be sold out if you try to get it on the spot.

I was told by my current company that an estimated amount will be with-held from my final month salary for tax payment to IRAS. Is that legal or I can request to settle it myself?
*
It's common and listed in IRAS.

QUOTE
Step 3: Withhold Payment Due to Your Employees
You are also required to withhold any monies (including overtime pay, leave pay, all allowances and reimbursements, gratuities and lump sum payments, etc.) due to your employee from the day he notifies you of his intention to cease employment or when you notify him of the termination of employment or posting to an overseas location.

When you are unable to withhold monies, please state the reason in the Form IR21. Otherwise, you may be liable for the tax that is owed by the employee.

Is ocbc360 the best saving account to open there now? Can aim for the monthly credit salary 1.2%.
*
I just opened one like last Sunday at Vivo. Went through a hassle coz my EP card expiry date is on last Saturday biggrin.gif

Brought the notification letter from EP renewal yet they demand the IPA which was issued even before the notification letter.

The notification letter even states my new EP expiry date they also don't accept doh.gif

Anyway printed out the IPA and got the account opened. Straight away transferred like 80% savings from POSB to OCBC.

Last time opened POSB coz company asked for DBS/POSB ONLY.
If you want to put long term FD, POSB/DBS has higher rate for 18/24/36 month period if not wrong. But if you credit salary into OCBC, for the first 50k savings, it's giving equal if not higher interest.

Seeing that for the past 2 years I only kept my money in normal POSB savings account with a tiny base interest of .05%, it's either FD or go for OCBC360.

Not to mention that OCBC360 base interest is the same as POSB (or maybe same as all basic savings account throughout SG banks).

IMO, no harm la... I'm definitely still keeping the POSB account for the purpose of remittance to Malaysia.

Somemore SG "FAST" instant interbank transfer is at no cost unlike Malaysia. If need to transfer fund to Malaysia just transfer to POSB then remit.

OCBC card withdrawal at M'sia OCBC ATM also FOC.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Like promoting for OCBC but I'm construction kuli so... No conflict of interest ya. Just want to share my "research".

Oh ya... Since I have not much commitment, my savings is normally going to be positive every month. Then you get that additional 1%.
Just too bad I don't have enough bills to pay (for the 3-bill thingy) and also don't spend so much on cards each month. Otherwise the interest can go much higher.
