Just wondering, is it still a good market to work in SG nowadays ?
Can save a lot ?
*
Not a good market. Some industries are slowing down.

Salary wise, for me... Definitely better. Work stress level likely the same for SG & MY for my field.
My savings here equals or greater than the salary that I can get in in MY. Eg:- Save RM3k per month in SG, salary only RM3k per month if work in MY.

I am quite relief that I made the move here 2 years back. Else I might be needing support from home to stay alive if work in Malaysia (KL/Penang area in particular).

Have you tried CIMB? Has anyone tried? Is the rate ok?
*
DBS/POSB I prefer. Transfer to any banks FOC. 1-2 working days receive the money in M'sia bank acc.

No limit as far as I know but normally i transfer only 1-2k la... No rich fellow sad.gif

I get to bring my baby and nanny to work. He is sleeping now in front of me haha. Half of my room turned to his playground and bed. My boss is ok with the arrangement. Colleague also welcome the baby, keep coming to my room to play with him.

Some company have their own nursery. Otherwise you need to go put them in either gahmen or private nursery, quite expensive but still affordable I heard, around 1k? Hand foot mouth disease free of charge though.

Hey experts, i'm wp holder, i took a few months off my study to earn money, i did not disclose this during application, and i'm about to quit after a little more than 2 months, now i'm worried that i have done something very wrong, will i be blacklisted? how should i quit in order to prevent serious consequences?
*
Then just don't disclose when you're leaving. Tell them you find the job not suitable for you will do.

MOM wise, nah it's not a problem. There's people who left their job in the first week or even first day.

Just don't tell your colleagues that this was your plan. It will leave a bad image and your HR might do something nasty.
Get it? wink.gif

Now I know...

州府仔是指那些到新加坡工作的马来西亚人。旧时,新加坡、马六甲和槟城都是英国殖民地,称为三州府。称马来西亚人为州府仔,明显地带有贬意。

Hi all,

Can i check if there is any action i can take on landlord if landlord never fulfill her part of the Tenancy Agreement?

Reason is landlord supposed to fixed problems i found with the house within first month. But its been over 6 months with no resolution from landlord.
*
You PR or SC?

What I read online la... They all say in Singapore land Singaporean house all side them dont even try. You gonna waste time only. There's also cases where tenant paid deposit then the landlord suddenly don't want let the tenant stay. No return the deposit. Even the property agent also can't do anything. Real life story from my previous agent.

What is the minimum rental period for most of you? 6 mths?
*
I think mostly 3 months. Then if before contract end, need pro-rate the deposit paid by the other party i.e if tenant want to end the contract before end of contract period (normally 1 year) say 3rd month of contract, he needs to pay 9 month worth of the half month deposit paid by the landlord. ~75% of half month deposit.

Sorry, I don't understand what you wrote. Are you saying that the minimum contract rental is 3 months and if you stay only 2 months, you still have to pay landlord 3 months rental. Is this what you are saying?

If Ok so far, ...But the contract we will be signing is usually for one year...and as part of the contract, we shall pay the landlord a deposit of Half-a-month and if he ends the contract by the 3rd month, only 25% (i.e. 3/12) of the half-month deposit is returned to the tenant. Is my interpretation of what you wrote correct?
*
QUOTE(fcuk90 @ Oct 30 2016, 07:11 PM)
Depends on situation, most of the time landlord will "makan" all your deposit paid if you want to terminate before the contract end.
*
Sorry sorry... I meant to say agent fee. No the deposit won't be forfeited. Deposit only forfeited if you leave without notice. If you inform one month in advance, just use it to cover that month's rental. I think so... hmm.gif but I might be wrong

3 options:

1. Travel back to be with family every weekend - doable for mid to high income
2. Relocate to JB and travel to work everyday - doable for low to high income
3. Relocate whole family to S'pore - doable for mid to high income
*
Define low, mid and high income. Per family?

How about singles? How about if only husband working but wife be housewife?

kuli-kuli already drawing RM30K/mth (Sgd10K) should just stay put in bolehland & only go SG for holiday/shopping. thumbsup.gif
*
biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Don't say RM30k la... The other day was in KL... GrabCar driver told me based on his experience. He work full time job. Drive grab after work. One month additional ~RM3k income.

He said he tried one day from morning to night around 11 max he got before RM700 profit. If drive to airport Grab special price RM65, Grab will topup forgot RM30 or RM50. If one day more than 40 trips Grab will give incentive RM150? Something like that.

According to him around 8 hours per day should be able to earn RM500 somemore no worry for customer source. Once drop off, another request will pop up d.

One day RM500, 10 days RM5000, 30 days RM15000. Pay instalment for car (say Myvi) RM700 left RM14300.

Why continue work in SG? Time to be driver innocent.gif

It really makes me wonder haha... Plus if do some side business like online shop, insurance, direct sales etc maybe one month fetch RM20k not a problem. No fixed working hours. Happy happy on leave, happy happy go holiday, happy happy sleep at home. No need see bosses' face.

why buy retail price? go sign up a contract with one of the telco's (even better if your company got CIS scheme) and get it subsidized.
*
The sim only plan now very attractive.

I bought my phone for $860 - LG V10 retail price $1048, 1 week after launch can get $860 in street price (mine from RedWhiteMobile near Bugis).
Then been using $35 package every month.

For work purpose I need to call a lot so I take the 800mins add on. If I go for normal package, 800mins (I tried hitting 780mins before) is the top tier d. $1XX per month? Something like that. Totally not worth it.

I don't need so much data also. Don't usually youtube on the go.

But seriously Singtel Data x 2 & Data x 3 so attractive. If get 3GB plan x 3 become 9GB only add $9.9.

I need to ask about mobile broadband.

Say now we are subscribed to a Malaysian Telco broadband. When we go to Sgp, does it still work if you turn off "data roaming"? The answer is "No" am I correct?

If it is turn on, the Msian Telco will hitch a ride on a Sgp Telco (e.g. Singtel) and then we can use the mobile internet, right? But by turning on the "roaming", is the Malaysian Telco provider going to charge us additional $$$ in our bill (whether postpaid or prepaid)?
If we subscribe to one of those "limitless data, limitless calls, sms" package, does it mean we don't need to subscribe to a Sgp Telco package?

Appreciate if someone can clarify as I don't quite understand this broadband thingy.
*
No. Everything the telco in one country offers (in your case, Malaysia) does not extends to another country.
Once out from home country (in your case, out from Malaysia), anything will be charged on roaming basis.

But there's telco like Umobile offering free data roaming in certain countries (in our case, Singapore) for free for certain more high end packages.
For umobile, read: http://www.u.com.my/plans/roaming-idd/data-backpack#plans

Unsure for other telcos. You can lookout for similar things from other telco but I think there isn't any.

For me, I need to make lots of calls for my work nature. Not worth getting data plan from Umobile to be used here. The roaming call charges can kill me anyday.

Currently using Singtel SIM Only plan. The most basic package is only $20 + $5 caller ID = ~$26. I added 800mins pay around $36 per month.

i got a tip for u. check the site during night time/midnight/or just random time, sometime people cancel their appointment, or they change the dates of their appointment.
so the slot will be open up,

if u r lucky u may find up coming slots.  good luck. thumbsup.gif

Yeah... I secured a slot coming week logging in at 12 last end of month. Got one slot right next day (on the day i login for appointment) but my stuffs not ready yet. Quite a number of open slots to choose from.

I went to enquire webe mobile - now offering unlimited data, call and sms, but the package would not work in Sgp - Need to pay additional RM300 deposit and RM39 per day roaming.  shocking.gif Also, they charge RM6.36 per minute for hotspot.

If use in MSia, then okay lar....

IwanAGP- your Singtel package S$20 is how much GB data?

Umobile allow Sgp roaming only if use for 6 months? Then I am not qualified for this package.
*
No idea. My singtel is 3GB.

Is it the Employment Pass ...or is it IPA?.... has to be collected by the candidate him/herself and not the company?
*
None...

IPA is just a softcopy sent to you you print out and carry with you as a proof that you have gotten the approval to work and stay in SG before you get your EP.

With the IPA and Medical Check up result, you/your HR can arrange the appointment with MOM EP Service Center to go for submitting the documents and also take photo + thumbprint. This one only you can do.

After that that EP will be sent to your company address by mail in 4 working days. Then you collect from your HR.

That was the process for me 2 years+ back. Maybe something has changed? Not sure.
