WMT overvalued. I prefer CNI. I am adding more Google, Adobe, msft, AMS, CNI once cash comes in.

Guys,

What about the USD rate?
When you buy now, what will it be in a year's time when the USDX reverses?

Something to ponder on.
*
usd drop 10%... stock up 50%... biggrin.gif

Seriously?  I am at a crossroad on this.
Once the Feds pivots, USDX will drop like a stone.
*
dunno bro... waiting to see what happens when dxy hit 120... and the US mid terms...

anyways if you enter... can always short dxy to hedge... personally I think fire sale not yet started... with calamities happening everywhere I think inflation pressure remains high... and the US mid terms could provide more signals...

anyways... may wanna look into EUR and GBP markets... double win when stock n currency recover... wink.gif

Buy the dip. That's just not working. Each dip had gotten deeper and any form of averaging down is simply putting the investor in a hole so deep....

Game has changed.....
*
bull market... buy the dip

bear market... sell the rally

wink.gif

game hasn't changed... ppl dunno how to play only...

IMO, BNM needs to raise OPR by 75bps now so that the Ringgit can stabilize and perhaps strengthen a bit.

Keeping at 2.5 to 2.75 is too low. Pandemic is tapering down, everybody is working again.
Businesses are back. Demand for goods and services are high and inflation soaring!
What else are they waiting for?

Heck, in the past they were ahead of the US Fed.. now lazy azz.  doh.gif
*
probably will raise a bit in Nov... hopefully not too much... as I bought something linked to klibor... laugh.gif

not all business are back... a lot bankrupt liao... plenty of shoplots vacant... interest rates back to pre covid also...

against gbp eur jpy n others... myr doing quite well... hahaha... so win some lose some...

QUOTE(TOS @ Oct 20 2022, 09:21 AM)
Already bought since Feb 1st 2022. Now paper lost of 18% including dividends. Cash flow does not look kind of healthy compared to last year's same period. FCF declined from 35.52 billion to 31.8 billion USD while cash and equivalents decline from 103.7 billion to 67.1 billion as they return 2.26 billion cash via dividends and accelerated repurchase of shared via another 4 billion.

I am worried that about the declining cash positions and the leveraged corporate structure, more so with people trading down to hypermarket own-label brands (I personally did that, and I find the savings are nearly 50%...)

FMCG stuffs aren't as inelastic as Nestle's foods anyway. People can switch from one shampoo brand to another, but Milo's flavour probably is so authentic that it's hard to replicate. tongue.gif

I prefer to see they take initiative to "cheat" customer by advertising their product's cost savings versus hypermarket's own "self-label" brands, but guess they run out of ammunitions as consumers are much smarter now. laugh.gif

They survive this quarter because of pricing of high single digits in most product lines, but you can already see elasticity kicks in with mild single digit decline in organic volume in all segments (except grooming) compared with that of Nestle. (Only NESN's Nescafe/Nespresso segment saw less than 1% organic volume decline, if memory serves, all other segments still show positive elasticity). To win back consumer's heart, more marketing expenses will surely be needed in future quarters...

yeah pg dun look so good... mid-income ppl & mid-priced items usually most affected by economic uncertainties...

myself usually defaults to generic and own-brand items... even shop at secondhand stores... lol... sometimes they are equal and occasionally better than "branded" labels... just try lor...

btw, milo is made in various countries... can taste very different yeah... don't buy wrong in case you oversea and misses milo... lol... nowadays i just buy the tesco/lotus chocolate uht milk here for the kids... tastes quite good imho...
