AMD is still shooting to the moon. Been trying to take my eyes off of it ever since I sold it off after the last earnings but damn, the train doesn't seem to be stoppable.
GILD earnings later & NVDA on 9th. This is an exciting week for me. BTW, has anyone use Halifax Investment Service that's based in Aussie before? The commission was very tempting but I can't seem to locate much info / review about them online. |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Feb 7 2017, 08:49 AM) Ram So far, I have not experience any withholding tax from US authorities investing in stocks. Have you signed the W BEN8 forms ? QUOTE(prophetjul @ Feb 7 2017, 11:14 AM) If you have send in the W BEN8 forms to declare that you are not a US citizen, etc, you should not be subjected to US taxes due to the tax treaty with Malaysia. I think it's better to move our discussion to here. According to people here, US stocks will kean 30% with holding tax regardless you fill the WBEN8 form. That's why people use Ireland as a proxy as Ireland only kena 15% tax.https://www.irs.gov/individuals/internation...rs/tax-treaties https://www.irs.gov/individuals/internation...x-treaty-tables http://www.knowthymoney.com/2011/07/how-to...-malaysian.html My MIS....Malaysia does NOT have a tax treaty with US, therefore the W BEN8 declaration form. Also it's shown here that SGans will also kena charge the 30% tax. http://www.turtleinvestor.net/get-to-know-...ithholding-tax/ Anyone here can conform that Malaysians will kena 30% with holding tax even if they fill up the WBEN8 forms? |

Correction:I'm not very well versed with TA but I thought I'm seeing triple top instead of triple bottom? If I zoom out 6 months, I'm seeing quintuple bottoms here. It hits the lows around 5 times already. 71.75, 70.93, 70.38, 71.30, 69.30. It seems to be under accumulation around here.. it may still take a while for it to rally higher, the long term buyers will step back in if it can get back above 200ma line (it is declining now). The yield around 3%+ will get good support. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Feb 8 2017, 05:18 AM |

You are correct. The WBEN8 just give you the status of foreign status, therefore not subject to capital gain but IS subjectto flat rate of 30% tax/withholding on DIVIDENDS. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « But, if you have a lot of dividends and should not be taxed as high as 30%, then, it is possible to claim them back by filing 1080NR by April 15th of each year. The taxable rate is still subject to your total income (that's your dividends) for the filing status. Best check with a US tax law accountant. |

QUOTE(talexeh @ Feb 8 2017, 04:41 AM) No insider news.63.5 is going to be an important level If it can capture the 70 level again then I think it will go sideways. I assume that it will only start moving back up once the acquire a company since their cash is already up to 32bil. |

QUOTE(zacknistelrooy @ Feb 8 2017, 10:42 PM) No insider news. Yea, that's what people are speculating right now. However, most of the time, proposing an acquisition will further push the price down but I guess a lot of hedge fund managers are probably eyeing GILD at this very moment so perhaps it might go the other way around.63.5 is going to be an important level If it can capture the 70 level again then I think it will go sideways. I assume that it will only start moving back up once the acquire a company since their cash is already up to 32bil. Averaged down again at $67. |
