yup currently only center (branches) available http://www.u.com.my/stores for OPTION UMOBILE BRANCH

then next month starting U MOBILE dealer would be available too including me  tongue.gif

but u need to present 3 months postpaid bill to get that Upackage and enjoy the special rate

http://www.u.com.my/extras/instalment-plans/upackage-android
currently not much left, they are distributed and going to launch within dealer like me
actually there is no contract, but whenever u wanna cancel/ change plan

u need to pay the balance of the phone ( you need to pay balance of the months of plan if there is a contract )

example if there phone RRP is 534.86

u are signing P70 and upackage, u are paying 80 ++ for 2 years , which means u only paid RM 240 for that phone

but in case within 2 years u wanna cancel the plan, u have to pay 534.86 -  (RM 10 * how many months u used)  to settle the phone
let say after 1 year wanna change plan to p98, paying 534.86 - 120 = RM 414.86 ( strictly no discount if discontinue on the bundle plan )
*
Sad I no statement coz just came back from oversea for years...maxis is my only option now

but got charge for downgrade, walk in center is free
may pm me for that

Talking about data backpack. Well, that is the reason why I signed up with umobile. I am working at Sg too, so instead of getting prepaid for sg line, just use umobile. I don't use a lot of data as my office have wifi.

But then I was told need to wait 6 months for roaming, if need need to pay deposit and need passport. rclxub.gif Oh...what is the point you advertise data backpad where you make so hard to use it? I am testing my line now at jb. Considering to terminate. Digi does not need all this bullshit and immediately they activate roaming for me.

Well , just got a reply from umobile , i email them not long ago about the data roaming speed in sg, below is their reply,

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for contacting U Mobile.

Kindly be informed that customer can access 4g speed only at Singapore (Starhub) and Thailand (True Move).

Please be advised that the mobile internet roaming service is subject to the preferred roaming operator’s network availability.

Kindly visit us at http://u.com.my/plans/roaming-idd/data-backpack for more information on data backpack.

For enquiries, dial "1318" if you are calling from your U Mobile phone OR dial "(+6) 018 388 1318" if you are calling from other fixed or mobile phone lines.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sabrina

I think one of the reason for me is umobile roaming speed is quite slow and unstable, anyway to solve tis by phone setting or etc ?

I always got below 1mbps (90% of the time), sometimes 2 to 4mbps (very seldom) but really unstable.

At the end, my company gv me another singapore data plan to solve tis for my working, so now my umobile become house use, which become less used.....

If can get higher speed i will stay put but no point keeping if paying money and get slow speed

* my phone signal H+, not 4g would tat affect ?

u know how data roaming works?

The data either can be routed by
1) Ur phone ---> roaming partner ---- > internet

2) Ur phone ----> roaming partner ------ > umobile ----> internet

most of the telco using 1) as no trust between operator, which mean every month roaming partner will bill umobile for RMxxxx due to UM user roam to their network.
UM cannot verify as no billing on its own network..

So here comes 2) option,
EVERY BITS of ur data will be route from roaming partner to u mobile via a server/company, BUT, limited bandwidth until today.. PnC cannot tell the bandwidth but u will be shocked AS the trunk is shared by whole roaming partner ... which mean those roaming at every country will send to the same trunk/link and back to umobile

everyone at oversea -----> every roaming partner -----(limited bandwidth) ----> umobile ---> internet

can u imagine the link is even worse than u grab capacity with other ppl within a telco tower? mad.gif and u still need to fight with ppl using LTE and U mobile VIP

biggrin.gif cheer up, u really tot umobile will be so nice? unlimited? biggrin.gif

Well, no comment on tat, no telcom engineer, dun knw who to trust, but i sure will try the speed again after i got the mi5 , hopefully 4g phone will help increase the speed

I do receive 3 to 4mbps sometimes at my home, sometimes in some shopping mall, where the signal reception is super good, my speed oso very good

since there is a huge risk to offer Data backpack ( 15gb local data Free roaming at oversea ) sure they need to be strict
some1 could simply abuse this by mnp to P70 (technically FOC during registration, advance deposit is charged on next month first bill), then apply ROAMING
then oversea and finished the 15gb probably a week or a month, then come back malaysia and PORT to another telco, this is very unfair for U mobile, agree?

there are 4 options to make it happen and I believe that's considerate too

1. RM 200 deposit (not recommended) but refundable after 6 months when u entitled for free roaming activation
2. after 6 months usage ( this happened on Maxis when i call them to increase my credit limit )
3. auto debit with credit card (may cancel after 6 months entitled for free roaming activation)
4. showing 2 bills from previous telco that either 1 bill with roaming charge (definitely easiest for users that always transfer oversea, especially from Maxis)

I believe that U Mobile is trying hard to please every1 but that's impossible especially when their CS and dealers are not well trained. Being umobile dealer for 6 years, I only attended not more than 3 times training (mostly explanation on new iphone plan , UMC loan, credit card Upackage). So whatever the management wanna present to the consumers is easily confused by the front desk people who lack of knowledge, especially the CS by phone 1318, always misleading customers.

That's why we are discussing everything about u mobile here to have a clearer picture right tongue.gif

So if after a week port out, bill is pro rated according to date?

Perhaps pro rated according to data balance is more appropriate

My experience with their Data Backpack, rather pleasant. I MNPed from Celcom. And straightaway signed up with their auto debit. Then I called to activate roaming. Efficiently handled by the CS. Went to Sydney and Melbourne. No 4G available. But speed is consistent around 15Mbps. Actually I dont really care about the sped tho. Most important thing is it is usable. A telco giving free data roaming is unheard of anywhere in the world. They usually will charge something on top of your monthly plan.

I think the U Mobile CS department is short staffed. The guy who ended up answering my call sounded hilariously neurotic, a bit too eager but very, very helpful nonetheless. If he never answered, I would've had a very bad first impression of U Mobile. The company should thank him.
