Wooden panel flooring. Lucky.

I guess the floor really plays a big factor.
If is concrete or tarmac, then probably have big impact

Yikes phone fell down. Was knock out of my hand at standing height. It flew and landed flat on the ground screen first. Lucky no damage to the screen or dents.  sweat.gif I think the way it lands make a big difference.

Lucky you!

Hahahaha...

Problem is that although there's a gazillion case reviews all over the web but nobody really touches on the main purpose of cases ie protecting the phone.
*
I supposed the screen is rather fragile against drops and the lack of available protective TG would make most ppl paranoid. Not to mentioned replacing the glass would cost one third of the phone itself =(

I dropped my phone several times from bed/chair. So far no dent or scratch. I dont use any sp. Just ringke fusion case. Gorilla glass 4 seem relible.
*
Gorilla glass is more for scratch resistance. Not too much on drop / shattering protection

Also it lands flat. The bigger the surface area the less the impact on it. And since it landed flat, the casing edges actually hit first before the phone and this helps absorb the impact before the screen touches the floor. sweat.gif

Lack of TG is one thing but what interest me more are case design, material, tech and the claimed drop protection.

It's like everyone started claiming MIL-STD for thinner and thinner case.

As for as I know MIL-STD is just a guideline and manufacturers can just declare that they are compliant. There isn't any 3rd party organization that certifies compliance.

What's this MIL-STD. Sounds a bit provocative. Hahaha

I'm just using the ringke slim without any screen protection. Feels like the cases' edges protrudes enough to cover all corners for a minimal drop protection. The case material is also rather hard although slim

Glad I don't have the chance to test it out yet. =)

Method 516.6 – Shock

This is probably the method that is cited the most by manufacturers and agencies alike. Part of this test method is sometimes referred to as the “drop” test, and it gauges how well a device holds up to impacts while falling from certain heights. The tests are designed to determine how well a device can put up with general physical abuse while in operation, but not from factors such as nearby explosions (these are covered in separate methods).

There are eight different procedures to choose from that each use different ways to cause shock or impact, but Procedure IV (transit drop) is the most often cited. The test was primarily designed for materiel that is loaded or unloaded from a vehicle, or taken off of a shelf, but for mobile devices it could certainly apply to nearly any operational instance.

How extensive Procedure IV gets is determined by the object’s weight. Personal computing devices would fall into the first category, which is for weights of less than 100 pounds and lengths of less than 91 cm (36 inches). The floor of the drop zone is two inches of plywood over concrete, which was determined to be the most common surface a device was likely to land on. Testers drop the device from a height of 4 feet on each of its six faces, 12 edges and eight corners, for a total of 26 drops. They visually inspect for damage and determine whether it still works after each drop. If a manufacturer requests, the 26 drops can be divided among five identical items.

Anyone using SP on their S7 experiencing non-sensitive responses? Ever since using Nilkin's SP that came with their case, my screen isn't that sensitive, thinking of switching to TG.

Not really. Budak baru belajar here..just trying to understand from watching youtube drop test vids how come some bulky well padded case dont protect the phone as well as some comparatively thinner ones.

What is the issue:
Not able to sign in after reboot, even with both fingerprint and password

How to reproduce:
Power down phone without unlock to home screen first (press power button directly and choice shutdown)
Power up again and prompt for Password say to protect fingerprint
Not able to sign in even with correct password
sad.gif

Didnt sign in Samsung Account on the phone (since still quite new but with contact/msg/watsapp/wechat data), so cannot unlock using findmymobile samsung

Old phone already kaput, so old data will be lost rclxub.gif
