Hi, just received my s7e black onyx.
Can u recommend a good normal SP and case for it?

Freebies of the day. Xtreamguard front and back for S7E, few sets left. If want have to self collect from me in Puchong tomorrow onwards as I am still overseas.

Never tried as I have changed to flat before the SP arrived from US last time.... so tak boleh comment la...

Maybe need to start to use those fugly flip case. So if drop also the screen is covered.

Can I load Google Now launcher on S7 and use it as default launcher instead of TouchWiz UI?

Yes you can. I use it and it works great. Just no custom icon options so I replaced the phone and sms app with the stock google one.

Thing is... if u drop a flip case, its likely to be in the open position.

True. But it'll still will be able to protect the screen to a certain extent (better than zero protection on the screen)

Based on my CSI on youtube, other forums etc.. my purely theoretical findings are:

Tempered glass

- Definitely a no-go as the air gap between the glass and screen will affect touch sensitivity. Also if phone is immersed in water, water will get into the gap.

Screen protector

- There's some that claims 9H scratch resistance blah blah blah but at the end of the day, its all bullshiat. PET material is PET material... no matter what coating you put on top of it... its still what it is and scratches more or less the same. Chicken with makeup also will never be phoenix.

In short, my pick will be Spigen Curved HD simply because of the area circled in red. I'll get to why in a moment.



Case

TLDR version: If a case is easy to put on and remove... then it's probably not very good protection. If a case is compatible with PET screen protector that covers the whole glass, then its probably not very good protection too.

IMO is that the best screen protection for the S7E in addition to the corner...is a case's raised lip. The higher it is... the better the chances at the screen not hitting the floor.



Equally if not more important, is how tight the corners clips onto the phone.... especially important for the S7E since that's the only place it can clip on.

If it requires some force to clip the case in place... it's will also lift full coverage screen protectors but it also means that it will require the same amount of force to dislodge it when your phone falls face down!!

Hence there's where the spigen curved HD screen protector comes to play. The circled area is not covered with SP... nothing to lift... can fit the tightest fitting case on it.

If you think about it.... those cases with good reputation for protection like Speck and Otterbox are generally pretty hard to put on.

As to which case, it depends on how much thickness and wideness (affecting one hand operation) that you can tolerate.

Currently I'm using spigen ultra hybrid as a thin case for everyday office use and neo-hybrid when out with the kids.

Anyone has problem with the fingerprint sensor? Mine always fail to detect. It was working properly until one day, it keep on failing.

Mine doesnt work as well as apple's.. i dont know is it due to the shape/size of sensor.. or the recording flaw. Ipad fingerprint reader works almost 99% of the time no matter the position.

so which is the most affordable case with good raised lips? spigen neo hybrid?

Maybe other dealers are complaining to Samsung because of the price.
