any zenfone 3 /zenfone 3 deluxe users having camera focus issues after upgrading to Android N? The laser auto focus seems to malfunction, you can see this by trying the laser ruler app. Everything measures as <10cm. As such the focus is set wrongly most of the time when taking photos of things further away.

I didn't experience the issue. Is there specific conditions causing the camera unable to focus properly?

I can confirm it has something to do with the laser auto focus. I'm using the original Asus flip case. By putting a transparent tape over the hole for the laser/infra red, the laser ruler app will fail to measure distance with an error.
Camera now focus properly using other focus mode but of course at slower rate.

So either there is some Android N bug affecting some hardware versions
OR
there is actually a hardware problem!!!

I don't know whether problem exist before Android N upgrade as it was in for repairs and I requested it be updated to N while still in repairs.

If you don't put a transparent tape over the laser/infrared source, would it still have a problem focusing? I do hope it's not a hardware issue, since that would be troublesome. I downloaded an update yesterday, don't know if that was meant for this issue or not.

without the tape the focus problem returns. The tape is actually not on the phone but on the case.

I certainly hope it is not hardware problem. Don't want to sent it in for repairs again. It took them 3 times to repair it to this current state from a very simple power button problem.

I see, so your phone already has a history with RMA. Do try updating to the latest firmware and see if it helps to solve the issue.

One major difference i notice after upgrade is the dpi is now changeable. It called display size under display setting.

I didn't wipe any data yet, so far so good.

ok thanks.

Changeable DPI will be good for a device with this size of screen.

Oooo, mine was the 5.2" Zenfone 3. Maybe there'll be an update for you soon, since you did say that it happened after updating to Nougat.

Very nice. Did you have to do a fullwipe? Or everything is still in place?

No wipe, just simply download & install. For good measure I power off and on again. So far so good.
