5 years ago before i buy a new plasma TV, i went to electronic shop (not selling shop, but repairing shop) and ask them which brand they receive most to repair. So i suggest other people can use that method also.

The answer i got from that technician is they repair a lots of philips and samsung tv. However, this doesn't mean data was accurate that much because from my observation at their shop, they repair a lots of crt tv. Only a few LCD or flat tv panel at that time. Based on that, it just gave me some idea regarding brand.

i bought my samsung 40" lcd tv same year as my cousin bought his philips lcd tv 40" ( forgot what year is that ) ,last month his philips totally KO meanwhile my samsung still going strong ... but if my samsung KO i definitely upgrade it to UHD , samsung brand for sure

I kinda agree...

I used to asked once a repair shop in the past...more of Sammy...but it's during the new LCD era...

Also, the earlier generation of plasmas had more of those burn in effect...

For myself personally, both my 6 and 5 year-old Sharp and Sony still going strong. Aiming for UHD/4K myself too

Btw, I myself abstain from voting in the poll

One of the problems lies in our inconsistent power supply. The fluctuating incoming supply actually shortens the lifespan of our electrical appliances.

Some areas have a range of 230V to a staggering 255V.

New here...all brands same same lah. It is the fluctuation of our electricity supply which is causing the problem (even though I admit that sometimes it is the hardware). My Sharp 70" died on me about a couple of months ago. First there was a horizontal line on the LED screen. One day later it won't start up. Luckily, the Sharp technicians responded quickly. I had my entire screen replaced within 3 working days.

Basically, when choosing a brand name TV, choose one which has prompt after sale service.

two years ago my Sharp 40" tv panel had a dark patch after my nephew banged it. i reported to Sharp, didn't mention about the tv being hit. they came to my house and replaced the display foc cos it's still under warranty.
