if u r watching mostly 720p, save the money, don't get a 4k tv.

4k tv is good for "1-step" upscale, i.e. 1080p->2160p.

but not "2-steps".

720p comes out ok, but the tv is underutilized.

hypptv, astro signals are 1080i, better than 720p, they come out quite good on a 4k tv.

4k material is best, of course but is rare.

next best... 4ktv upscales full 1080p videos like bdmv's very well, gets close to 4k.

Surprisingly, I myself can't view the polls!

I thought no one has voted until I logged in through another device and saw the votes blink.gif

I think it's because I have yet to vote - My TVs are still working fine, thus it's unfair to give a bad vote to any brand nod.gif

Saw Samsung and LG being the highest votes for problematic TV...

that's when warranty/extended w/insurance comes in,

rm1-2k, no bother, just junk if it fails right after normal warranty.

>rm3k, should consider.

For someone who has yet to purchase extended warranty...

1. If TV rosak within warranty, you sent in for repair, thus 2-3 weeks no TV?
2. Normally extended warranty is for how many years? 2-3 yrs? How frequent will TV rosak within 2 - 3 years?

1. same like car no? accident, workshop, no car...

2. some tv's come with 1, some 2. some can add 1, 2, 3.
depends on tv, outlet, seller...

you must have experienced breaking down RIGHT AFTER std warranty expires! biggrin.gif

like i say, for a tv, 5 years is min expected. 6-8 good, >8 excellent.

My TV so far so good, belum rosak brows.gif, no add on warranty because they were cheap in the first place, and it would pain me to be without TV for a long period - I would rather go out and straight buy a brand new TV icon_rolleyes.gif

technically, a tv's life is described as xy,000 hours of operation.

so, if u use it lightly, can last a long long time.

but in reality, so many things can go wrong...

for users like me that use a 5-10 hours a day, get extended warranty for costly tv.

need it to last 5 years min.

but yes... if buy cheap-cheap tv, can change all the time. biggrin.gif

TVs nowadays usually have two years warranty. If you need more then you need to buy additional warranty.

I bought additional 3 years warranty for my Samsung 4K so it has 5 years warranty. It cost me around RM300 from Seng Heng.

The other one, LG, I just stick for 2 years warranty, just hope nothing will happen in 5 years time hmm.gif

Ya, a lot of so called bad perception to Korean brands, especially Samsung. Probably in the past, but I had talked to a lot of repairman and electronics shops and they said the same thing... hmm.gif
