One other question for you kodi experts out there. So I can't watch any streams larger than 8gb on Quasar because my Q10 int HDD is only 16GB. I have got an old 1TB SATA HDD I can format and use. Would installing that help me solve this problem? And is there a specific download path for Quasar to make use of this hard disk?

U r thinking right.
Yes, u can do that.
The 16gb is internal storage in a card.
You can go to quasar setting to specify the DL path to an external hdd via usb or the internal hdd if is installed.
A folder named tddownloads will be created and used for this path.
My exp, the int sata hdd way works better.
With good speed, u can do big files... my best was a 30gb 4k video.

Since u hv a sata drive, use it.
For sata drive formatting, installation, best u discuss in himedia thread as it is q10pro specific.
Note there r only a few boxes with this feature... i can count only 3 in the market.

Thanks AVFAN!

I have read an article on futoku site recommending how to format. I will try that out.

Yep.. Slow exits do occur. Sometimes, it even refuses to exit properly and hangs, showing a blank screen, forcing me to kill the app to restart it. When such occurs, it helps to check the logs and troubleshoot why and rectify. In most cases, nothing actually happens after kill and resume. But always keep a clean stable backup just incase it crashes that one time and refuses to start properly. So you can delete and reinstall with backup.

this happens becos u hv too much junk in there.

junk = obsolete addons, saved videos, subs, links... u exiting too fast, half way... bad remnant files remaining....

either u put up with it or do clean install and use only working addons.

if u do that, i assure u it close fast every time!

Hi,

Need some guidance with Quasar add-on. Followed the installation instruction perfectly, managed to run, the only problem is buffering fails very often - download speed starts off great, but drops to zero after short while. Hence, most of the time big sized files (4GB and above) will not run - stuck at buffering stage, the number of connected seeders at this point will drop to zero, or in negative digit. Smaller files (around 2GB) will occasionally run if I am lucky enough to get it fully buffered before the speed drops. The movie will run ok with full download speed once I get it to run successfully

Here is my set up:
Himedia Q5 Pro
Unifi 50Mbps
Download path set to external SD Card 32GB (Sandisk Ultra) due to limited internal memory
Tried limiting download speed to 8000kbps and upload speed to 300kbps
Tried disabling, enabling and forcing connection encryption
Tried enabling/disabling tuned storage setting
Tried limiting connection to 200, 150, 100, 50, 30, 10
Tried multiple movies - from trending to top rated

Thanks.

I recommend you fiddle with your router instead. Disable QoS settings if any.. Could also be the internet connection is being throttled when it detects p2p connections.

QoS is turned off
Was suspecting throttling from ISP from the start, but just want to be sure that I did not set anything wrong. Weird thing is that my normal BT download on my PC is fine, and the movie would play just fine as long as I get past the buffering stage as well. Ah well, I guess I would have to give up on Quasar and rely on my usual BT download then. Thanks for the kind advice notworthy.gif

That's really weird. Was gonna ask about p2p connections using a different device on the same network. But it appears that's not an issue. You definitely have sufficient speeds and download location shouldn't be a factor. Unless it's slow to keep up. You mentioned the Download path is set to external SD Card 32GB (Sandisk Ultra) due to limited internal memory. This while good for some smartphone usage, is definitely not designed for fast read and writes required of larger high bit-rate files. So I suggest you switch the download location to a fast USB device instead. This should work. Cuz unlike on an SanDisk Ultra SD card, fast USB drives can handle fast data being written and read from simultaneously. Which is what Quasar does and should explain why it has no problems playing once fully buffered but can't keep up while buffering.. You are welcome..

Didn't want to waste the card, bought it recently during Lazada 12.12 sale with the intention of formatting it as internal storage, but somehow it just didn't work and found out that it is a well known issue for this card when I did a search online, hence using it as external storage device doh.gif Will try changing the download location to my USB 3.0 1TB HDD later and see if it makes any difference. Thanks! notworthy.gif

Yeah, I updated my earlier post to reflect similar thoughts. A good USB3.0 drive should work splendidly. Especially with the Himedia Q5 Pro's USB 3.0 port. You won't be facing the usual bottleneck present with using a 3.0 device with a 2.0 USB port. Ideally, make sure to flash (slow flash) the drive first to NTFS cuz Quasar won't accept FAT32 and clear the addon's cache. Try it out and update. smile.gif

m3u lists are tricky... they die very quickly.
some last for a day, some just a couple of hours.

there are people posting daily lists, u can try them:
