didnt read, but at 1st i also thought why its that weird why hardware doesnt able to support SSL.
i mean if computer there should be no prob even Win XP also support SSL so should android box.

by right it should be the upgrade by addons if not kodi itself.

It does indeed look like all isn't lost for devices stuck with Jarvis.

It was never about the hardware being capable or not.. It was the older python version's incompatibility with SSL V2, which most hosting sites switched to, that caused the issue. My guess is that the official Kodi devs are truly tired of supporting shoddy boxes and how else to speed up the process than strictly sticking to a standard and refusing to allocate very limited resources to the seeking and implementation of various forms of hackery. Hence no patch from them. I believe it's their plan to force weaker box manufacturers out of business and only the better ones remain. By forcing consumers to control the market with their money. As it should.. Personally, I'm also tired of folks being ripped off cuz they do not know better or trying to save a few bucks. The latter, not much love, as despite research, still went ahead. IMO.

Edit: To install, I believe on the Minix Neo X8-H Plus right? It's an AMLogic device. So download "FTMC (25) - Kodi 16 Fork to Fix SSL V2 (Exodus HD Fix". Alternatively, you can install the Ares Wizard first and download from there. It's a must have program to me.

I found flixnet & Genesis streaming vid quality better than Exodus. I'm comparing with the same movie title. "Rogue One" I used Autoplay to compare. Three of these addon played 1080p files. but Flixnet & Genesis has better quality vid streaming.

I love Genesis/Exodus design everything perfect but now using Quasar can torrent but just 80% satisfied because cant sort content by YEAR (Movies).
Anyone knows how to do that?

From the same person but the platform has changed, it breaks into many category. Installed to both of my STB without problem.

I custom set the provider search to 10sec and turn off playback hosters with captchas. It speed up the autoplay and skip file quality selection. The autoplay always fine the best quality to play. No problem whatsoever.

I don't like to use Quasar. I felt is damn slow for my liking.

The latest version of FTMC (ver 16.1 build 25) has the codes to make it SSL v2 Compliant. It is able to link to more HD sources, similar to Kodi 17. So it is not necessary to upgrade to kodi 17 for now.

You have to uninstall your existing kodi in order to install FTMC. If you want to keep your existing addons, backup the data using kodi's backup and restore utilities.

Mentioned earlier.. Genesis Reborn is a fork based on source code of Genesis, Exodus, Zen, and Specto.... Basically "borrowed" and modified code. As for Quasar, ever tried searching with the year as the keyword? Remember, the addon does not and will not act as addons like Exodus, etc. It simply sources and plays p2p files. The rest is up to the user.. Legal issues, this way.. The maintainers can keep working on it without much fear of a crackdown. Like Kodi devs.

Damn slow? Sounds like you need faster and more reliable Internet speeds...

Say i want to see a list of movies produced (is that the correct word?) shown in cinema in year 2016, so i type 2016 in keyword? it doesnt work right? it will show lists of movies with name 2016.

what i mean is like in Exodus -> Movies -> inside there got Category, Popular, Trending, etc etc...1 of it is sort by year.
which Quasar doesnt have.

quasar does not hv such categories for sorting.
the search will work only with words of the titles only.

quasar is not good for slow speeds.
for slow speeds, <10mbps, it will only be able to do 1-2gb files which are heavily ripped ones.
these are also the ones typically found in exodus, genesis reborn, etc.
those so called 4k files are in the range 4-5gb.

there are 1080p 8gb, 12gb, 30gb, 66gb files with hd audio.
can't get them anywhere in kodi except quasar.
needs 30, 50, 100 mbps to do smoothly.

me, quasar is the main reason i use kodi at all.

TM upgraded my line to 50mb d.

Really I found the processing file is sooooo slow. I meant compared to the others addons.

I understood perfectly. Addons, don't work using fairy dust.. They pull content from somewhere physical... As I stated earlier.. Quasar does not host or store any such databases. Which is what is required to be able to do such specific searches. Ever wondered why addons such as Exodus, Genesis, etc, all start strong and later die, so soon? Heat!! .. Quasar is simply a torrent search and download tool.. Just like Transmission/uTorrent/Tixati software on PCs... They are aware but do not care if you go searching for legal or otherwise files. It's simply a tool, just like the Kodi app. Can be used for good and bad.. Quasar, just like Kodi cannot be fully held responsible if YOU, the user uses it to search for illegal content.. Cops will come bust down your door and not the maintainers.. Just like in the USA/UK, etc...

Like this... Veli impatient.. Means can upgrade to 100Mbps then... haha.. I'm still waiting on my free bump to 50Mbps. Currently, Quasar is set to pre-download 150MB before starting playback.. This takes about 45 seconds to a minute max on full speed and ensures (in most cases), smooth playback from start to finish.

If you mentioned Quasar doesnt maintain such database, then how does other category is available but not the YEAR?
OK if indeed its true, so is it possible to use Exodus database to show it in Quasar? lol....

It also depend of the seeds the source available. I tried watching a 14gb vid. it too more than 1>2min. NO patient lar.

Unless select the movie I like to watch them come back later.

If I write an addon that is able to query torrent search engines or IMDB or TVDB database for popular or trending movies and shows. Does that mean that I'm hosting said databases? Definitely not.. I go a step further, taking the results from a user input search, and search on user pre-selected (providers) torrent sites. Links to torrent files are returned as results.. This is a layman's understanding of how Quasar works.. It hosts nothing incriminating and simply links..

Can it add the category you seek? Sure, but who's going to maintain the database and keep it up to date? I'd rather the maintainers focus on more important tasks. Besides, there are sites such as Google, IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, etc that keep such updates.. Simply find what you would like to see, launch Quasar and search.. If stable links are found, sit back and enjoy.. Previously, one would have to predownload the torrent file before being able to play..

Hai... 1 - 2 minutes also no patience? You definitely never used Kodi in its early streaming days.. Last time ah, you click 100 links also, no guarantee any is live.. Plus some links must fill in captcha, which doesn't work all the time.. .

Yes, I've been lucky I guess.. Favorite content have stable peers to connect.. The addon also supports background downloads and seeding.. Doesn't necessarily mean play now, must watch now.. You could even have multiple files running.. Play around with he currently selected providers.. I also recommend getting access to private trackers.. Very best.. Don't ask how, won't be private anymore..

Yup! I only used these TV not long ago. But used Quasar to watch a movie definitely faster than download the entire files to watch.

Anyway! I have a Live TV apps which has many HD channels, it has TV dramas, variety Shows, Concerts, Movies, 4K Movies, 4K Concerts, 4K documentary etc.

It can replay 4-5hrs pre-recorded vid on each channels. I using it a lot because changing channels is pretty fast. The only down side is when opening the app sometime it might take 20-30sec but once loaded and changing channels it is very smooth.
