I am too considering getting a P990i (as the Motorola E6 is pretty well overpriced now sleep.gif, considering it has no 3G and WI-FI)

If I'm getting it, I'm going for AP, saving ~RM800 is not a small amount, and so far I have yet to see any of my frns P910i LCD broken before, I hope the quality of the LCD and touchscreen is similar at the P990i.

Just want to clarify something, what is the most current firmware (stable one) out now? Should I go for Generic set? Because I must confirm all these details before asking my frn to get it from his supplier.

Anything else that I must pay attention on?

Will phone memory be a big problem with running applications?

Just called Clareen, according to her Malaysia will ban AP set starting 1st of April, which means those company that offer AP warranty will be forced to close door, leads to anything happens to AP set HP, "eat ourself"

Dunno how true is this, can someone confirm this?

If you're talking about P990i, I will honestly say that it is still buggy even with the latest firmware, guess it wasn't up to my expectations. It's still slow, laggy and sometimes will restart by itself even I just logged in to Yahoo to check my emails. Sigh ....... doh.gif The saving grace is the big touchscreen and Wi-Fi.

I dun think so lah, AP sets are just parallel importers, they're not against our Malaysian laws if they have paid the duties for the handphones that they have imported into the country. AP ones have been around during my college years till now, if they ban AP sets, many AP companies around KL will close down and people will loose their jobs. Possible? Nah, I dun think so.

I dunno about you all, but the phone seems OK for me so far - just a bit annoyed that I can't surf image-intensive sites on the Web browser and had to install Opera Mini which seemed to have better er, webpage managing capabilities than the built-in Web app.

Anyhow, one IMPORTANT question:

I was on the phone with my friend when he asked for another friend's contact which is in my phone book. I asked him to wait for a while, but realised that I don't know how to get out of that phone menu on my phone and browse through the phonebook (if you get what I mean..).

There's only Hold, More, and End Call options. How on earth do I go back to the main menu while still on the phone with my friend?

It should be the menu button, at least that is true for my ancient K700i, I imagine it should be the same for most (most I guess), SE phones sleep.gif

That's odd, because under More, there's a whole list of options.. except for the option to go to the Phonebook. =.= I'm using P990i btw.

I have been a fan of SE P900 series all the while but sadly, the P990i is a step back, very sluggish and the recent Nokia models using Symbian OS S60 3rd Edition suffers from the same problem too. I guess SE and Nokia should ditch Symbian for something better. I'm not sure whether it is processor hungry or ram hungry, my P990i is slow, sluggish and unstable. Well, the new firmware doesn't seem to help much and these firmware updates will probably last for a year or two, then, if the problem is not fixed by then, I guess I'll just sell it then without thinking twice. Hopefully, the next successor to the P990i will be a better one.

I don't think so - at least, I haven't really tried it.
