QUOTE(nexvik @ Apr 25 2016, 04:11 PM)
Hi everyone.

I'm new to TIME internet and it would be much appreciated if someone could help me clarify something.

I've contacted one of the agents and they say that they will require to drill a small hole at the entrance. I am a bit lost / mislead about the drilling hole at the entrance part. Does it mean that the fiber wire will be directly exposed in my home or something like that?

Would be much appreciated that if there are some photos to help me understand easier.

Thanks all.
*
i looked around my neighbours and i found that the fiber cable is indeed exposed a little. they drilled a hole at the top of the gate so the cable can be inserted without needing to pass through the door.

I would like to ask if its safe to download everything without a VPN ? hmm.gif
Since we have faster speed now, do you think its safe to go on a ' wild' download spree? or do you guys think covering our asses with VPN is a must ? Because i remember reading back in 2013 that Singapore's broadband companies had to issue warnings and release info of their clients who downloaded those oscar winning movies after they claim  copyright damages ( if im not mistaken, one of the movie was Dallas Buyers Club). Because trust me , once u guys get at least 100mbps or 300mbs, your fingers will become very itchy one and start downloading like MAD!  tongue.gif

If yes, which VPN do you guys recommend ?
*
it's the same as you downloading from all other ISP in malaysia. do you feel safe downloading from them?

i do, since malaysia's copyright enforcement is kinda loose, otherwise many of us who are torrenting will likely be sued for infringement already biggrin.gif

first thing im gonna do when i get my fibre is to upload all my animes to google cloud biggrin.gif

such feat was impossible back when i had streamyx sad.gif

does the installer usually drill or they go around a structure beam when installing the optical cable?

i manually measured and it will take about 22m to reach to my room if kept at the corner ceiling and around the beam, but if drilled through the beam it's barely 15m

that's almost RM70 savings sad.gif

Hi,

Are you refering to the FTTx packages (Fibre Home Broadband / Fibre Business Internet) ?

If so, yes..Huawei ONU/ONT is being used.

Thanks.
*
Just confirmed with yeap that the huawei ONU only enable 1 port and the rest is blocked. I've been wondering why do they block the other ports?

Not really blocked...each port has its own predefined role instead.
*
may i know what are the roles for each port? are they really needed or can be reset?

seems like QoS is to be blamed cause after disabling it, my speedtest result shoots back up to 290++

how's the performance of the router provided by TIME (D-Link DIR-850L) ? Was the range of coverage okay ? I read up the online reviews and heard its pretty bad.
*
it's pretty bad when compared to the "full" version of the router, namely DIR-860L

but considering the speed im subscribed to is 300mbps, it's pretty good. my router is in the master room and im still getting 433mbps link on my phone. that's with 5ghz wireless N tho.

as for the router settings, there are some stuffs i wish they had, like mac address filtering or individual device website filtering etc.

Hi finally getting my TIME installed tmw.  smile.gif

What service you guys use to watch tv channels (local and oversea). If it's not convenient to say it out here, pls PM me thx!
*
I tried both netflix and iflix, so far netflix has better sound quality and more choices than iflix.

you should be able to stream 4k hd on netflix with no problem, time is so good that i almost never utilize the full 300mbps speed biggrin.gif
