to be honest, I don't really care about the max 100Mbps
Just want constant and steady signal throughout the house.
I switched from VIP10 to TIME 100Mbps,
getting stable 20-50 Mbps whole house is good enough.
problem:
wifi only about 50Mbps next to router,
go about 10 feet away drop to 20-30 Mbps signal 3 bars
in room 2 bar, speed only 1-2Mbps
previously I am used to 10Mbps whole house
constant and strong signal.
crappy silver innatech rg4332 stock unifi router.
..
I am exploring all options before investing in a better router
or using a homeplug repeater.
which is quite overkill as my house is only 1200sqft.
What your client devices support do matter. If they don't support 5GHz N/AC, then you'll be stuck on 2.4GHz band which is sensitive to interference from other 2.4GHz wifi networks and at times even from bluetooth, wireless mice/keyboards etc.
I'm not familiar with Time stock routers as I always use my own router, even from the old Streamyx days.
For a 1200sqf home, I think any reasonably priced router with external antennas should help improve wifi coverage and stability. I am using an Asus RT-AC68U with my Time 500mb connection - an expensive investment but boy does it deliver!
I have 5GHz wifi all over my 1200sqf condo unit, 250-350mbps in the living room (where my router is) and 100-200mbps in other rooms. I can even get 50-100mbps outside at the lift lobby. Stable and speedy. I have 2 non-AC clients (work laptops) and about 12 AC clients at home. My remaining 1 wired client (media center PC) gets the full 500mbps.
