Yes shutter speed to freeze the motion BUT with VR it actually does help you stabilize the shot.

Remember at longer focal length every bit of your movement is magnified. Shutter speed can freeze but even a slightest motion may cause it to have a slight blur.

There's a reason why stabilization is introduced to many lenses, especially telephoto zoom lenses.

It won't be fully features as the CC version, but still good enough.

I prefer standalone. I hate paying monthly subscription, but that's just me.
I have the Elements as well but also quite stripped down. They don't have function for frequency separation sad.gif

Standalone.
I was thinking to go monthly as well, but standalone is cheaper.
If I go monthly, it'll be with an education discount.

My alma matter was kind enough to provide me with a .edu address which will never expire haha.

Having done macro myself with sigma 150mm macro, 180mm macro then upgraded to Canon macro 180mm and the mighty MPE-65. I think flying insect is probably over your head. It's too technically challenged unless you pack some serious flashes and spend years mastering the craft.

If you want a head start with easy macro for hiking need, i like the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS.

Macro is a lot of works if you want to do well.

Keep it up.

Actually what happened when shutter count too high or reached limit? If fix it / change it = expensive?

Either it will stop working or you'll see colour banding in your photos
