Carousell and Clubsnap as I was in Singapore during that period.

I guess after a while the price just wouldn't drop much.
Once a camera is below RM2k, the price doesn't drop fast enough even if there are no demands.
*
oh okay, i used to only post on GS but its so dead these days sad.gif

I tried posting on Mudah a while ago and while there will always be some annoying scammers (they will spam a lot of messages to you through Whatsapp), I managed to sell my d7000 and a sigma lens within one week at a good price. Maybe you can give it a try in the future.

I guess 5d2 will still float around 2.5k for quite a while, its still a workhorse albeit the old age.

How’s 5d 2 in low light and the dynamic range?
*
Not bad for a camera that old, I can shoot at iso3200 and get usable images with some PP.

Dynamic range wise its typical older Canon, once you play with the shadows too much, all the banding shows up and its ruined. A lot of the time I have to shoot in brackets instead of underexposing 1 single shot only.

Nice, been eyeing for full frame lately but still haven't got a good deal (still looking!). Thought of the 6d mk ii. But i notice that the AF spread is stuck in the middle of the frame.
*
go for 5d ii if thats your budget limit, the technology is still relatively modern other than the focusing system.

Hello guys may I ask something here.

user posted image

I dont know whether you guys can see it or not but I can see there are purple spots inside the lens. Is it fungus?  unsure.gif
*
quite a few big spots of fungus there, theres a big one at the lower left of the lens. the purple spots are at the upper part right?

Looks great.
Always wanted to shoot steel wool.
If you're daring, you can go even closer +wide angle so the steel wool covers more than 50% of the picture.
Might want to use a "cheap" UV filter though.

haha u mean something like this? I didnt post because I hate the big lens flare sad.gif

so far i have used 4-5 tamrons, so far all so good...
*
tamron optics are good , but im not so sure about their mechanical quality. i had the first version of 70-200 few years ago and it had 0 issues throughout the 2 years+ of ownership. whilst the 24-70mm i just got last year (used unit), had its aperture unit failed after a few months of casual usage (costed me rm580 to replace). the autofocus motor seemed to start making weird noises too, but it was fine before sending for the replacement of aperture unit (told the technician about this issue and he managed to fix it, but after a few weeks the USD started making weird noises again).

what about lenses? the prices of sony&fuji is very much different compared to canon wink.gif
*
main reason i stayed with canon is the price of lenses, so damn cheap compared to sony and fuji (and even nikon).

unless it is broken already  icon_idea.gif

true haha, i missed that part my bad bangwall.gif

some random thoughts, i realized that with less gears i actually enjoyed photography more. used to have multiple primes (24mm, 50mm, 85mm, 150mm) and zooms ( 10-20mm, 12-40mm, 18-135mm, 70-200mm) and i always worried of what lens to bring out for a shoot/ trip and what not to. changing lenses on the go is equally as frustrating and kills the joy.

finally end up buying a 24-70mm (used to think that 24-70mm is like the jack of all trade but master of none as it's not super wide or super tele), it was the best decision i've made so far. i can shoot everything from landscape to portrait to cars with a single lens and its super useful for making videos too.

now all i have is a body + a lens and it fits my usage really well.

yeah, changing lens during a trip sometimes feel quite irritating myself especially in a crowd... that's why i restricted myself to bring only one lens (tammy 17-50) which can cover most of my situation except super wide view or subjects that are quite far away.

waiting technology to get much more advanced first to justify the body upgrade... just wish to have a better auto focus and better high ISO performance from current 600d  biggrin.gif

for now it is adequate for me  blush.gif
*
if you dont mind ancient auto focus system, you can consider 5D2 for its high iso performance. i can shoot iso 1600 - 3200 easily with it and still get clean images with some processing.

as for canon apsc, i think only the newest generation bodies have comparable if not better iso performance, but then they are costly.

So many camera pros. I just got a canon eos m6 (mirrorless). I got the EOS adapter to use large lenses. Was wondering whats the best lens i can find for portraits? i heard prime lens is perfect and wide angle prime lens is good for getting a larger scene in your your portrait. So that means I need 2 lenses now. So whats the best lenses I can get that fit my criteria? (ps: the cheaper the better. looking for the best value. doesn't have to be canon brand lenses). Hope this isnt the wrong thread for this.  smile.gif

something like a Canon 50mm f1.8 STM will do the job smile.gif

Thanks for the reply smile.gif... What about portrait lenses for larger scenery where you wanna capture more of the background as well as the model?
*
maybe the 24mm f2.8 stm? what lens do you have with the m6 currently?

(or if you are tight on budget just step back further when you shoot laugh.gif )

I assume the shots you wanted to get are something like these? (wide and closeup)

Shot both of them using the same lens, one at 24mm and one at 70mm. I liked shooting portraits with zoom lenses more as it allows me to change the perspective/ angle easily without moving around too much.

Somewhat like that yes bingo. But I thought zoom lenses arent that great for portraits?
*
thats not true, its all about how you use it.

for wider shots like the first one, even something like a kit lens is more than adequate smile.gif

QUOTE(Axelredan @ Feb 25 2018, 02:05 PM)
then how come in the video the guy says "24mm best for getting all the background in for portrait photography" while "80mm best for getting bokeh and focusing only on the subject"?? if everything was achievable with a zoom lens or telephoto lens i dont think prime lenses would be necessary to begin with, no?
*
prime lenses aren't for everyone, trust me. i used to run 24mm, 50mm and 85mm, it was pain in the a$$ to change lenses all the time just for a short 30 mins portraiture session (unless your are one of those photographers who solely shoot with one focal length).

got myself a zoom lens and yes I do lose out on some image quality (which i dont mind at all, at the end of the day im not upload images at full resolution) and also less "bokeh" (the famous background blur) but i get to spend more time to focus on angles/ poses/ lightings which matter way more than image quality and bokeh.

QUOTE(LegendLee @ Feb 26 2018, 08:31 PM)
It looks really promising and it's not that expensive.
I'm seriously considering it.

However, the 4k is just a gimmick.
The crop factor on top of the 1.6 crop and the lack of proper AF then makes it hard to use. Not to mention the slow frame rate.

Hopefully the photo and video quality would be good.
*
im more surprised at the 120fps video capability, but it's confusing that some websites are claiming 120fps at 1080p while others are saying 120fps at 720p.

as for the price alone, i am guessing it will be around rm3k body alone (priced above m100 and under m6).
