Yeap i know..

its good you have such thinking... many huha about it when banks revise the cashback t&c ..

credit card is for convenience after all.

Prior to heavy credit card usage last time, my wallet always got rm3000 and slowly depletes to rm1000(this is for emergency).
And now I'm on high credit card usage, wallet only has rm300 and will be slowly pickup weight to rm3000 where rm2200 will be use to pay PBB and HLB's credit card and balance give to father thumbsup.gif
Still Maybank cards are worth to keep as the payees I consider them as the most, easier when want to make payments.

Yes, there will be some fee involved. Basically, you can already use the card overseas but highly advisable to call CS to notify them to avoid future issue.

1. there is transaction fee for transaction in foreign currency, when you swipe at merchant such as supermarket/shops, etc. (about 1% fee, on top of the foreign exchange) ~it is not much difference compare to the rate u got from money changer (exchange rate for currency note will be higher than exchange rate for creditcard/telegraphic transfer)

2. do not attempt to withdraw cash at atm machine by credit card -> it is cash advance and there can be interest rate up to 18% per year, on top of foreign transaction fee and cash advance fee

3. no need to enable the card. however it is nice to inform the bank so that the anti fraud system wont be triggered easily

Thanks for all the response, may I know why is it not advisable if the exchange rate will be roughly the same?

It'll be easier if I just applied another CC from SG bank (say OCBC) later on?

As the exchange rate will not be the same everyday, some banks also have slightly different rate. So if you were to work in SG for long term, better get a card there, simple. If short term, then you have to pay extra slightly sometimes.
Like last time I work 1 year contract in Qatar(now permanent already), the exchange rate could be different by almost rm0.10 for each Riyal I spend. But that time AMEX still got 5% cash back for every rm1 I spend on all categories, so no problem on this.
But for now left with dining cash back, will it really worth? I doubt so.
