Hi guys I am moving to SG soon and I may need to use my Maybank CC for emergencies but I was wondering do they charge foreign transaction fee? And I do need to enable the card for overseas use before I depart right?
1. there is transaction fee for transaction in foreign currency, when you swipe at merchant such as supermarket/shops, etc. (about 1% fee, on top of the foreign exchange) ~it is not much difference compare to the rate u got from money changer (exchange rate for currency note will be higher than exchange rate for creditcard/telegraphic transfer)2. do not attempt to withdraw cash at atm machine by credit card -> it is cash advance and there can be interest rate up to 18% per year, on top of foreign transaction fee and cash advance fee
3. no need to enable the card. however it is nice to inform the bank so that the anti fraud system wont be triggered easily
