Osren. Haha. Racun!

I got bitten after my visits. Hahaha. laugh.gif

But yea, agreed - they will advise you based on your needs and what you intend to achieve. They have a range of products catering to enthusiasts and up till those pro-detailers. tongue.gif

My DA lying unused after first day happily detailing my bonnet. laugh.gif

More syiok using the clay towel and using it on my family's rides. The smoothness on the paintwork is like night and day.  brows.gif

Dont worry, plan your time to do a full detail one day. My DA also lies idle most of the time, and I need to plan my time when wanna do complete detailing so that I dont get distracted in between.

Yea, the best I can do at the moment is bits and pieces so I tend to forgo the DA and do a simple wash, dry, spray sealant routine.

Btw, any recommendations on tyre shine? Sucker for glossy wheels and I've always gone back to Meg's Endurance Shine / Black Magic Tire Wet... Occasionally dress using Soft 99 Black Black too for durability.

Was planning to get my hands on Turtlewax Jet Black tire shine but not able to get it off the shelves. laugh.gif
*
Erm, sorry but I'm the opposite where I usually dont apply anything after wash. In fact, ideally I will use Super Degreaser to wash the tyres until extremely clean and leave it with its natural tyre shine. Whenever I do use some form of tyre shine it would be Carpro PERL cuz I can apply to the wheel arches and other plastic trims as well. Only reason I do that is because PERL is quite bang for buck, lol.

hi guys..im need some advice or recommendation on detailing..currently im plan to wash my car..step as per below

1. wash
2. clay the car body
3. rubbing compound
4. swirl remover
5. polishing compound
6. using Soft99 meta clean
7. using Soft99 fusso coat
8. using soft 99 premium authentic wax
9. periodically using soft 99 luxury gloss after wash the car

is it im doing the right step?..im bit newbie into detailing

thank you
*
Hmm, firstly I would say skip your 4th step. After compounding, polishing should remove whatever compounding haze or holograms.

Secondly, u will need to go abit more detail on your plan, such as how do u plan to compound/polish your car, whether by hand or by machine.

Thirdly, skip step 6 as your step 3 and 5 already does what meta clean is supposed to do and even more. Replace step 6 with IPA wipedown to remove polishing oils residue.

Fourthly, I kinda think Soft99 Premium Authentic Wax and Soft99 Luxury Gloss would provide similar gloss enhancement function, but since u are applying Fusso Coat as the base, then I would say skip the Premium Authentic Wax and just apply Luxury Gloss after that.

That is just my 2 sen.

im using machine for rubbing and polishing..and fusso coat im using by hand..

actually my plan im using fusso coat as the base..after that, im waxing the car with premium authentic..this both wax im for monthly wash..and per bi-weekly after wash the car..im just using luxury gloss...is it suffice enough?
*
Mmm, think my suggestion stands as it is. Personally I would think the Premium Authentic and Luxury Gloss to be of similar wax class, which is to provide gloss enhancement. The reason I suggest to drop Premium Authentic is because it is a paste wax, so it is possible that it may contain solvents that can degrade your Fusso Coat base.

However, generally I think u have protection aspects of detailing covered more than enough (perhaps abit of overkill to some extent). Just perhaps consider what would be convenient for u once ur regular maintenance kicks in.

Given the recent haze, I noticed a layer of dirt formed on the surface of my white car. Using barehands it can be rubbed off but it is not possible to remove it via normal DIY car wash.

Do you guys think it's easier with a pressure jet at those car wash or I'll need to use chemicals to get rid of it?
*
Mmm, based on experience, pressure jets are able to remove loose dirt more efficiently, but not stubborn dirt that normal DIY car wash cant remove. As it were, when u DIY wash, u would be using a wash mitt to scrub your car with soap already, so that scrubbing pressure would be as strong if not stronger than pressure washer in terms of loosening dirt from your car prior to rinsing.

As u mentioned your car is white, dirt is most noticeable compared to other cars. Perhaps consider using a cleaner wax to rid of the stubborn dirt.

Mmm, that is a tough one, as have not come across a detailing shop that even uses it. Maybe some of the really high end ones might, but they would cost a bomb.

Exactly. Perhaps if u wanna go the pro detailer's route like what we see on youtube, then consider DIY instead. Detailing can be a fun and very satisfying hobby. smile.gif

Hi everyone, I'm new to interior detailing and thinking to buy all purpose cleaner for my interior and some carpets upholstery chemicals but unsure of which affordable brand and where to buy it from online. Also good brushes biggrin.gif anyone don't mind shedding some light on this, thank you  smile.gif
*
If u want easy, drop by Osren in Kepong and ask their sales there. They can get u sorted right away.

For interior detailing, the most budget way is APC, brushes, microfiber towels and plenty of elbow grease. Some of the brushes u can check out places like AEON or ACE hardware, a medium or soft bristle brush is quite easy to find there.

Anyone using the Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax on their windscreen too?

Am planning to polish and apply HCS on my car, also thinking deep clean my windscreen and apply HCS too.
*
Erm, Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax is HCW. Osren Hydro Ceramic Shield is HCS. Which product are u referring to?

In my first application of Osren HCS, I applied all over the place, paintwork, naked trims, windshields, etc.

would like to get recommendation of wax / sealant / coating which suitable for an elderly with:
1. ease of use for elderly without much detailing knowledge
2. preferable liquid / spray type than paste due to ease of use
which of these or any others that not listed would u guys recommend?
OSREN Luminous Paintwork Coat (Sio2 Spray Coating)
Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax
Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax, G17516
SOFT99 Luxury Gloss
SOFT99 Fusso Coat F7
SOFT99 Fusso Coat Mirror Shine
SOFT99 Meta Clean Liquid Wax
Turtle Wax Express Shine Carnauba Spray Wax
Turtle Wax Ice Seal N Shine (lowest priority to this due to overprice)
PG Polymer Sealant (seems like nobody recommend this here?)
*
I would say for parents or elderly folks, the easier the better. So my recommendation would be Megs ultimate quick wax, or any spray quick waxes or quick detailers. My assumption is most elderly folks may not be so in tune with the specifics nor would they be very interested, so anything that can spray on and buff off with minimal streaking should work for them just fine.

Sorry noob question...

What is the best substitute for Isoprophyl alcohol?
Cant find it

No ace hardware here, shopee wont ship to east malaysia as well
*
Try check out Magic Boo, as I know some users found IPA there as well. as IPA is highly flammable substance, shipping would be quite difficult if not very expensive. Hunting it down at your own locality is always a better bet.

Another grade u can consider is electronics grade IPA (used to clean flux and other gunks off electronics boards). This u can try find from your local DIY electronics store (the shops that sell stuff for u to do soldering electronic components).

Medical grade is probably hardest to come by as usually sold to hospitals. However, some pharmacies may carry (rarely seen), but I know for sure they carry those small alcohol swabs.

IPA is commonly used as a rinse-free method of removing polishing oils. So if really cannot find IPA, then re-wash your car with diluted dishsoap as your wash soap to remove oils residue.

The recent heavy rains really hammered the fusso coat test I was doing on my car parked under a tree. I noticed that the parts which weren't shaded by the tree seemed to do better. It seems quite clear to me that the main enemy of durability is from fine dust/sand from trees which act as a scrubber when there is rain.
*
Precaution when parking under trees, while they may be great for shades from a hot day, but apart from dust and whatnots that falls off the tree during rainfall like u mentioned, there's also the worry of tree sap and other material dropping. Worse is during evenings, some birds like to hangout together in the tree and creates a potential for bird poop bombing for cars underneath it.

The worst that I had seen from my previous detail shop days was a client parked under a tree not realising there was an ant nest at its base and the ants swarmed the car. It took me numerous hours with bug spray, interior cleaning and vacuuming to rid the ants.

My general advice for cars with good car care regime and decent tinting, better to park out in the open. Just my 2 sen.

Whatt product you guys recommend If I wish to polish the car by hand as the last, finshing , extra fine polish, that doesnt have any wax?

Purpose is to really flatten the clear coat to super slick
*
Me thinks Meguiars Ultimate Polish, Osren's Nao Glaze 26 and Perfect Cut 20 should do the trick. However, even though they dont leave any waxes, they will leave polishing oils.

Also, its hard to judge a flat clearcoat unless u go microscopic. With a typical flashlight, so long as there are no more haze/holograms and fine swirls, it should be fine. A trick I use to judge a good polish is when the circular reflection of the flashlight on the panel doesnt have "tails". This takes practice and experience. Its easier to explain it visually than typing it here.

Hope this helps.

I think I might have found a solution to my phobia of rain and waterspots (thanks for all the help earlier guys!). I mentioned  that I don't like going out in the rain because I hate to deal with the car after rain because of limited time. (I'm using Meguairs Ultimate Liquid Wax and my car's clear coat is still strong). I usually fully detail my car myself once every 2-3 months which include wash, claybar (if needed) and wax and trim detailing.

I went ahead and got the Meguairs Ultimate Waterless Wash and Wax and so far it works as advertised. The liquid is silky smooth and cleans up the car really well without introducing swirls. I think it's the perfect kit when I'm travelling and need to quickly remove waterspot buildups if I'm caught in the rain.

I'm really looking for solutions to prevent waterspots (wax does help tremendously, but not perfect) so this might be my best solution so far. Any other alternative suggestions are welcomed too!

Mmm, perhaps try ONR Wash & Wax. Similar if not same outcome, more bang for buck at least because of dilution.

Erm, I use Goodmaid Glass Cleaner, can be purchased off AEON. Works the same, probably way cheaper. Try it out.

QUOTE(Lord Suave @ Oct 21 2019, 03:31 PM)
need some help and guidance, my porch roof is leaking at the edge and after heavy downpour, there is white substance (like we see in old toilet) that drips onto the windscreen and body.

When it dries, it leaves a patch that is so hard and stubborn to remove, i managed to clear on the body which has coating but the ones on the windscreen is so hard to remove using glass cleaner. i even tried scraping with hard plastic card (like credit card), it helped a little yet it's not 100% removed.

should i try rain-x or is there other suggested method? thanks in advance for your guidance.
*
Hmm, that stain that comes from your car porch ceiling is some form of cement residue if not mistaken. U should handle with care because trying to scrub it off too hard may induce scratches, even on glass. For your glass, using a razor blade and gently scraping may be able to remove most of it.

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 21 2019, 10:48 PM)
blurcase bro, how do you take care of your car's interior black piano finishing? My gear knob one has tons of scratches (and I tried to avoid contact as much as possible... and when I wipe I usually do with QD LOL). But guess I need to polish a bit... but just worried of introducing even more scratches.
*
Hmm, piano finish is quite tough to restore. Mine also has scratches but I did nothing other than regular damp wiping because I worry if I attempt to polish, the remaining haze will be quite difficult to finish. The main issue is unlike car paint which I know is made of clearcoat topping, I dont know what is made of the piano finish for interiors.

Perhaps other sifus here can share a more meaningful experience in dealing with this.

Damp cloth wiping gave me scratches until recently I started using QD, gives the slick feel and I guess easier to dust off.

I just got the Shinemate EP803 mini rotary, mainly to polish those hard to reach areas which needs accuracy to reach corners 😓 and especially my black grill. Gonna do test with the key black piano... I believe that one is similar material.

The head unit black panel seems tougher than the black panel on the gear knob area though. I was looking at reviews people polish Audi exterior black piano... not sure if those are paint, or plastic bits. But I guess if is paint, no point showing tutorial right 🤔

Lol, now u understand why I am hesitant to polish piano finish stuff.

Just something that came across my mind. Many years ago when I was a kid, I used to play Tamiya toy cars, and there was a black car body that I polished to a fairly high gloss finish. However, instead of using a car polish that was meant to work on clearcoats, I used plastic polish (I think it was Autosol).

So apart from M205 on Meguiars range, u could try the likes of PlastX. Do go gently though.
