Fuyoh, nice work bro.

Not many willing to go thru headlamps restoration [myself included] cos phobia with wetsanding etc. Interesting though.

Kudos on the awesome end results! thumbsup.gif

Nothing to fear about wetsanding as long as u practice the least aggressive method first. Even on paint the likes of 3000 grit sandpaper is easily polished off without significantly removing clearcoat. Only through trial and error then will know which grit of sandpaper is safe on cars and which is not. smile.gif

Yeah agreed especially consumer targeted products.
Somemore American 3M
Their consumer power/lawsuits scary laugh.gif

Now having a velcro/drill attachment would make this a ton easier.
I only did it purely by hand, and let's just say few hours (in total actual work) rubbing a small same spot, alternating between both hands,  is pretty tiring tongue.gif

As 3M disclaimer and FAQ mentioned, 3000 grit is very safe on thick plastic headlamps much safer than car paint clear coats. Mistakes and errors are also more forgiving and easier/better chance for correction (in the event you screw up)
*
From personal experience, 1000 grit and above is quite well removable via compounding and polishing. Although by hand is tiring, but I guess its better control of the sanding process.

Guys

Can I use microfiber pad to apply ceramic coat if not what what type of cloth can I buy as extra as the cloth which will come with the coat usually one piece only

I'm afraid one piece will not be suffice to apply the whole car as the Craig might dry up on the same cloth?

Doing a little project on an old car

Thanks

As far as I know they use the cloth material that is like those u use to wipe spectacles. If u search on Shopee u should be able to get a bunch of it for cheap price.

Hello sifus, what are you guys thoughts on snow foam? Waste of time and money or helpful? Any products to recommend? Preferably thick foam 😁
*
When u say snow foam, u mean buying and using the equipment to snow foam the car, or the pre-cleaning step of snow foaming the car?

Personally for me, I dont find the snow foaming step necessarily useful for regular home detailers, so not worth to buy the necessary equipment for it.

Help! My itchy hands used a 2000 grit to get rid of few scratch lines only to realise I do not have any compound! I don't think polish can take out the haze from wet sanding

What's the best alternative besides expensive Meguiar's UC? BTW I've a purple pad fro Osren just in case to use with compound or not?

Kindly advise
*
If u have polish, why not try first? 2000 grit is very mild already. At consumer range just about any compound will do for removing 2000 grit. U could consider Osren if on budget.

Thanks Bro for replying...

Being old can't read clearly without glasses and I checked again apparently there's this Osren per pic still in the box though I think it's 7-9 years ady can't recalled exactly hoping it hasn't expired.

First pass with wool on 2nd pic and 2nd pass with the same wool 🤣 using Turtle Polish

Some deep old scratch can't be removed caused by camry reversing into the door 😡

Think this is the best ady, any adv further? Thanks👍
*
Based on ur 3rd pic, looks like pretty much gone liao, and the paint looks more level with less orange peel also. Unless u not satisfied with the result, but if based on ur 3rd pic I would say job well done. smile.gif

Btw, detailing products rarely have expiry printed on it. However, products like compounds and polishes may dry out over long time if not kept properly. Since u used it and its still works then I'd say can still use.

Long weekend so decided to clean up the black color ride. Clay and polished with TW Ceramic Polish & Wax paired with microfiber pad using DA. I'm very satisfied with the pad on a single "pass" and getting rid of a lot of swirl without compounding. Any problem and improvement adv? Thanks

Await TW Ceramic Spray to arrive and complete it...
*
What sort of MF pad u using? If u willing to give it a 2nd round, use a finishing foam pad and the color should pop.

Got myself a CarPro Perl, let's see how long the product lasts. Sometimes my car is parked under the sun (Will be applying this to exterior only). Diluted 1:3 as per instructions.
*
My experience with Perl on exterior trims is durability average but the bang for buck is probably among the best.

Can this 8 yrs paint work be rescue?
Decontaminate
Clay
Compound
Polish
Wax
Ceramic Sealant or send to paint shop direct easy peasy...🤣🤣🤣

Totally doable, just require energy and patience. If u willing to go the distance and wetsand the orange peel off, it can become even better than new. biggrin.gif

How do you store used clay and applicator pads for tyre (e.g. black black)?
How to wash applicator pads that i used for fusso? It still smells after i soaked it with soap..
*
Used clay store in any small container and spray some clay lube to keep it moist and not stick to the container walls.

Tyre applicator pads just store in a plastic bag, when need to use reverse plastic bag out to become "glove" while holding applicator pad.

Some applicator pads u will need to soak with a small pail of detergent water, and squeeze and release it multiple times while immersed in soap water to break the chemicals inside the applicator foam or fibers. Not 100% clean, but better than just soaking alone.

Another cordless competitor in the market, this color scheme reminds me of Makita  laugh.gif first time hearing this though... so far only know Flex, SPTA, Shinemate has cordless option.
*
Ya, and even Shinemate cordless rotary is almost same price with Flex, RM2k++, not a price I am willing to pay for.

I probably will dive in for this and see how it goes.
