Hello and Hi, I would like to build a pc.

[B][Budget]
RM 3500

[Purpose]
Gaming, Photoshop, Editing Video, Movies

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
None

[Monitor resolution]
1080p monitor

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Dota 2, GoPro Studio

[Personal preferences]
i5/i7
Case that can see through (if cheap)

[Location]
Malaysia

I usually do all my things on laptop Dell XPS L502x, i5. Tired of laptop keep crashing blue screen when play dota.
Thinking of build pc, and dont have much preferences. If you guys know a better processor, pls recommend.
I think of build a pc similar to latest laptop razer blade. just minus the coloured keyboard. When you recommend, pls do explain a bit about the parts. Thanks
*
Latest Razer Blade costs $1999 and your budget is 3.5k only so don't expect to get something that is similar to it (or nowhere near the spec of new Razer Blade).

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 835
Asus H110M-K - RM 273
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Sapphire RX 480 8GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1249 (Pre-order)
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W - RM 303
Tecware Alpha - RM 199
BenQ GW2270 - RM 379

Total: RM 3584 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you only play Dota 2 then you can downgrade the GPU to RX 460/RX 470 and get a 120GB/240GB SSD for shorter system boot time and improve the overall system responsiveness.

If you prefer a less-noisy GPU, please wait for non-reference version of RX 480, AMD reference blower cooler is known to be very noisy and inefficient in the past, but they might have improved this time around, wait for reviews in the next couple of days to find out more.

If i stick with the GPU, what specs of game can i play? Fifa?
*
FIFA's system requirement is pretty low, RX 480 should be able run FIFA 15 at 4K 60 FPS without any major issue, in fact last gen GTX970 already can do this, RX 480 is estimated to have at least the performance of GTX980/R9 390X so you can try to scale the performance of the games based on the other cards for RX 480.

RX 480 is aimed to run games at 1080p 60 FPS (or more) as claimed by AMD and is meant to replace the mainstream GPU market segment (GTX970/R9 390) at much lower price, we as a Malaysian usually won't be able to take advantage of this low price tag thanks to GST + tax + distributor mark up, but RM 1249 for GTX980's performance is quite a steal already nod.gif

The actual performance and benchmark will be revealed in the next couple of days after NDA is lifted.

So now u recommend GTX980 or RX480? Cause the price is almost the same as you stated.
*
Did I say GTX980 for RM 1249? Nope, I never say it sweat.gif

What I meant is RX 480 is believed to pack with the performance of GTX980 at much lower price tag, a new GTX980 will cost you at least RM 1700 by now.

RX 480 runs on the newest AMD Polaris architecture while GTX980 runs on Nvidia Maxwell 2.0 architecture (last gen, current one is Pascal).

3k budget with no hardware to re-use cannot get you an i5 6600K and SSD, it is either you refine your budget (top up) or back to reality by getting what you are able to get with your current budget.

[Purpose] Mostly for online surfing, streaming, Adobe Photoshop/Audition, Reaper 5.2, trying to build something that can play games as well.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] I have 1 yo 250gb SSD Sata, old RAM, not sure if it's compatible with 2015/2016 hardware.

[Monitor resolution] Not sure too.

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Any last year games i guess
Dark Souls
Assassin Creed Syndicate
FallOut  4

[Personal preferences]
i3/i5, probably anything that manage to run games at low/medium.

[Location] Cheras

Hi all, kindly advice medium setup to build such desktop. Last PC i've build was some intel G620 socket 1155/775 8gb RAM, lost track of newest tech already. Never gaming with it, but still do a good job on internet surfing and editing audio/picture tho. Planning to build new one, one that could play games without high performance, i'm a happy guy settled for low/medium res, texture, graphic or any "6 month ago" hardware. And is it a good month to shopping this thing? price too expensive/cheap? Thanks

I assume you have a monitor, keyboard and mouse to reuse since you have a working PC with you currently.

Intel Core i3 6098P - RM 441

[Budget] MYR 3,000

[Purpose] Gaming (MOBA, MMORPG, no AAA), streaming video and lots of web browsing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] none
[Location] KL

Hi! I am looking for mid spec for gaming that can run smooth FPS during teamfight in gaming, or crowded places in mmorpg, probably with RX480 for future proof gpu and also portable rig, mITX or something can close to that (wanna keep it compact and neat)

Might as well as here, what monitor can I get if I want to set dual monitors, preferably pivot monitors
IPS and 23-24 inch.
Price (not with the rig) for both around 1,000 - 1,200.

Thank you!

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 707
ASRock H110M-ITX - RM 315
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131

WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
CM Elite 130 - RM 178

Total: RM 2983 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

RX 480 is aimed to pack with at least the performance of GTX980/R9 390 so it might be a little bit overkill for your usage, I suggest you to go for RX 470 instead and use the extra money to get a modular PSU for better cable management (since you are heading for mITX build) and i5 6500 for higher base clock speed (> 3.0GHz).

As for monitor, you can look for Acer R241Y, thin bezel IPS monitor priced at RM 622.

Budget: Around RM4k? Somewhat flexible
Purpose: I want to run GTA V on highest settings, with 1080p 60fps.
Reusable Hardware: None.
Monitor: I dunno.
Games & softwares: I only want to play GTA V on 60fps highest settings that's it.
Personal preference: I'm a heavy Excel user because of work, so probably need 16GB and i7 to run multiple simulations.
Location: KL
*
GTA V comes with 2 separated graphics settings (basic & advanced), to max out basic graphics settings (minus grass quality, it's a FPS eater and use FXAA only), a GTX970/R9 390 is enough to get 60 FPS on 1080p, but if you turn on all the advanced graphics settings to max (shadows, scaling etc) then you will need to spend a lot of money to get a high end GPU for that which I don't think it is worth the effort unless you got a lot of budget for it.

Hi terence! Thanks for your reply as always.

Based on your suggestions, what is the ideal psu, considering that rx480 is still my choice (just to be future proof or cheap AAA games in the future), and with i5-6500 too. Probably I will wait for non reference card to be released in MY.. so this build can wait hehe. Oh ya, how about SSD?

Can increase the budget to 4,000 if possible

The monitor can pivot? Not much info on google sweat.gif

Thanks!
*
A true power 500W PSU is able to power up RX 480 (and other components), so you can look for Seasonic M12II EVO 520W.

Non-reference card is always recommended because AMD reference blower is kinda noisy and inefficient in the past, non-reference card is scheduled to arrive at a later date (mid July).

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 835
ASRock H110M-ITX - RM 315 (Can be upgraded to H170 mITX board with on-board WiFi card if needed, a top up of nearly RM 200+/- is needed)
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131 (Can be upgraded to 16GB since you do a lot of browsing)
RX 480 non-reference - RM 1299 (Estimated price, TBC later by AMD MY)
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 153 (Or take the 240GB version at RM 249)
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W - RM 330
CM Elite 130 - RM 178 (Can be swapped/changed to other mITX case based on your own preferences)

Total: RM 3456 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Completely missed the "pivot" part, nope, the new Acer R1 series monitor doesn't support pivot, you need to look for other brand, mostly Dell innocent.gif

Dell S2316H (one of the entry level nice IPS monitor) doesn't support pivot, P2317H does support pivot but it will be out of your budget if you take 2 at the same time.

MITX only.
Thanks for help.

Intel Pentium G4400 - RM 221
ASRock H110M-ITX - RM 315
Corsair 4GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 78
Seagate Momentus Thin 500GB HDD - RM 182
CM Elite Power 350W - RM 126
CM Elite 110 - RM 159

Total: RM 1083 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Downgrading to Haswell Pentium G3250 + H81 + 4GB DDR3 will save you around RM 15+/- FYI, but it will still be > 1k because mITX mobo is expensive.

Thanks for the new suggestion. Not sure if the on board wifi is better than external wifi card though. I had bad experience with tp link wifi card previously

Once the non reference card is out, I'll try to build this.

It's hard to get good ips pivot monitor except for dell, but I guess it's not that important biggrin.gif

Thank you and have a good day icon_rolleyes.gif
*
I prefer on-board WiFi card because I always move my rig from place to place (between hometown and KV area) nod.gif

If you prefer external WiFi card, then just get the lowest end mITX mobo, the extra money can be used to buy a very high end USB WiFi adapter (dual band with strong signal) which will be way faster and more stable than on-board one thumbsup.gif

Forgive me, HDD and casings will be reused. So I'll have extra 400 there?
i5 is totally fine in gaming department, no problem almost in all games, except when game & streaming. CPU went 100%  laugh.gif

Anyway if we're sticking to non Skylake build, I'll have my RAM re-used as well, I already have 2x8GB stick, so another extra 250 there.
*
Well you can technically skip the mobo as well if your current one is able to support Xeon E3 1231 V3, there goes another saving of RM 240.

So technically, I only need to change my processor eh, looks like a good saving right there, but I have no idea about xeon, can it get my job done?
*
Xeon E3 1231 V3 is very identical with i7 4790 but at a cheaper price tag.

The drawback is no iGPU, so if your dedicated GPU goes haywire then you will need a replacement as soon as possible.

The clock speed is slightly lower than i7 4790 (-0.2GHz) but that won't make much difference in real life usage though.

Thx bro  thumbup.gif good stuff! I'm still using samsung e2020 monitor that has vga/dvi-d and vga/d-sub port for now (1600x900 60Hz). I think Asus H110M-K mobo has same old vga port right? Just if i'm re-consider to buy i5 proc and hold the gpu for next month smile.gif and another thing i'm lost at new gpu display output port these days, does it still support my old monitor? What kind of monitor or converter (if exist) should i look for to work with Zotac GTX950. Thanks and sorry too much question.
*
Use the display output port from the GPU, there is a DVI port on the GTX950 model that I have suggested earlier to connect your monitor with the GPU.

Edit: Yes, the mobo does come with VGA and DVI port.

Not sure how light is your "light gaming", if it is just normal/casual games which don't require GPU acceleration or don't make use of GPU then you can drop the GTX750Ti and get an i5/SSD.

If you want to stick with Nvidia GPU then it has to be last gen GPU already (GTX950/960) because the latest one (GTX1070/1080) is out of your reach or jump ship to AMD Polaris (RX480/470) if you want to board the latest technology train.

Let me know your decision then I will proceed further.

Price for Windows license key varies from version to version, there is ~RM 100 left in your budget for that but I don't think it is enough, so try to negotiate with the shopkeeper (retail/OEM key sold at physical retailer shop is very expensive FYI, so please be prepared laugh.gif ).

Some previous buyers said that ETech is installing Windows 10 for free for those who buy rig from them, I am not entirely sure on this, but you can always ask them yourself for more info.
