About ram, any significant difference performance if using 2133mhz or 2666mhz? Price not so much different.
*
As mentioned earlier, performance gain from 2133 to 2666 is too small to notice in real life usage.

You can see the changes or improvements mostly when you conduct memory benchmark.

thanks bro!

other than cost, is there any particular reason why you recommend Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4)? if i opt for other non z series mobo i.e. B150 mortar, will there be any noticeable performance increase for gaming??
*
Recommended H110 mobo since it is more friendly toward your budget.

Changing mobo will not increase gaming performance, you are spending more due to different chipset and different features, not spending more to "buy" performance.

Ok, i'm decide to go this setup since price not so much different h170 and z170

Intel skylake core i7 6700 - RM1294
Gigabyte z170-hd3 - RM594
Kingston hyperx fury 8gb ddr4 2133mhz - RM175
*
You might as well top up RM 20 for 2666MHz RAM then since you are choosing Z170 even though the performance gain is small.

QUOTE(Prothero @ Mar 14 2016, 08:25 PM)
Hi all sifus,

Right now I am using an ATX system with the following Motherboard, CPU & GC :

Motherboard : Asus M5A99X EVO
CPU : AMD FX-6300
GC : Sapphire HD 7870 XT
RAM : Kingston DDR3 4GB x2
Casing : CM Storm Scout II

I am planning to change my system to Micro ATX because I realize I don't need an ATX size system (and because I fell in love with the compact Bitfenix Prodigy M Casing).

I believe I only need to change my Mobo, CPU, RAM & Casing to fit my current hardwares into a Micro ATX casing (which I prefer to be Bitfenix Prodigy M)

Please suggest me new Mobo, CPU & RAM based on following :

[B][Budget] : 1500 (Too much, or too cheap?)

[Purpose] : Dota 2 full graphics & day to day usage.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] :
1. 550W Semi Modular NAXN brand PSU
2. Sapphire HD 7870 XT
3. Samsung 850 Evo 120GB SSD
4. 2x 1TB Green WD HDD
5. Mouse & Keyboard
6. Monitor

[Monitor resolution] : No idea, doesn't really matter to be honest. Probably 1080p.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] : Dota2, Microsoft Office.

[Personal preferences] :
1. Bitfenix Prodigy M Casing
2. Micro ATX system
3. Skylake system with Z series motherboard

[Location] : KL/Selangor
*
Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 775
ASRock Z170M Pro 4 - RM 443
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 162
Bitfenix Prodigy M - RM 369

Total: RM 1749 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

"Slightly" over budget, you can downgrade to i3 6100 (RM 796) or change mobo to non-Z170 (cheaper, recommended since getting a Z170 with non-K CPU and value RAM do not really make any sense laugh.gif ).

Hi! Thanks for the reply.

I had a discussion with my friend and he suggested to take Z series since it is more durable.

How true is this?

If for a non-Z motherboard, which would you suggest for gaming purpose?

Thanks!
*
You might ask your friend how durable is Z170 then whistling.gif

If you want to stay within budget, you need to go lowest end H110 mobo, if can accept overbudget, then stick with the current Z170 or B150 (slightly cheaper).

Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289

Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 403

MSI B150M Bazooka (D4) - RM 409

just curious.
how much is the differences in term of gaming performance between skylake w/ ddr4 & skylake w/ ddrL3 ?
*
Not much, DDR4 is few frame rates ahead only, but considering the price of DDR3 and DDR4, DDR4 is more worth to invest.

Very hard to find AMD mITX mobo in local market nowadays.

ASRock H110M-ITX - RM 332

can i have a gaming build suggestion for around 3.5k without monitor that can run smoothly on sims & gta5 etc. thanks.

I have an old cooler master 310 which i would like to use back & chg the broken fan @@
*
CM Elite 310 is a very aged case which doesn't have USB 3.0 front header and the PSU is placed above the mobo, I recommend you to get a new one instead.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 775
Gigabyte B150M-D3H - RM 403
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 162
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1397
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 209
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Total: RM 3498 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you have HDD/SSD to reuse, the extra funds can be used to get a more decent PSU or swap to R9 390.

There is a new Xtreme series in the market which replaces the G1 Gaming series, you can consider swapping the G1 to Xtreme (RM 3300) if you want latest series, this is just a FYI because some people don't like to buy something that is already obsoleted at the same price of newer series/product, new Pascal and Polaris GPU are coming soon too, if you can wait, then I suggest you to wait.

guys, wanna ask if a 750w psu support 980Ti x2? (with peripherals, 4 ssd/hdd, headsets, amp)
Oh yeah.. and will a Xeon E1231 v3 bottleneck 980Ti x2?
Curious question before Pascal,
is it better to get dual 980Ti or sell off my current 980Ti and get the new 1080Ti/X80Ti?
if its dual, any cheap while good SLI motherboard out there? Im using Asus Z97M- Plus doh.gif Matx board plz.. >w<

Thanks all sifu and senpais! (gives everyone a hug)
*
Quite risky to run GTX980Ti SLI on a 750W PSU.

Bottleneck or not is totally depend on the game itself, but considering Xeon E3 1231 V3 is a quad core octa thread CPU, it is very hard for a game to fully utilize the resources of it.

I would recommend you to wait for Pascal instead, GTX980Ti isn't cheap now, if you decided to stay with GTX980Ti SLI, wait the price drops after Pascal announcement, it could potentially save you a lot of money.

Are you running 4K resolution?
