Hello LY!

[Budget]
9000

[Purpose]
Gaming, Browsing, Graphic &  Productivity Suites

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
Dell U3415W
KB & Mouse
WD Green 3TB as storage and WD Black 3TB for non essential application.

[Monitor resolution]
3440 x 1440

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Dota 2, Battlefield, Company of Heroes, ROTK, Cities Skylines, Microsoft Productivity Suites & Adobe Suites.

[Personal preferences]

I rarely turn off my PC, maybe once a every few month, so it would be good to have something that could withstand 24/7 computing. I prefer NVIDIA for GC and Intel for processor.I would prefer not to build a PC with MSI in it and I already have license for Windows 10 Pro.

I usually play my game in windows mode, so IMO I would prefer to stick with 1070 blush.gif

My biggest concern lies with the motherboard(ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO & Gigabyte Gaming 7, based on the review on newegg they seems to suffer some kind of issue after a short while, but based on my researched on google, it doesn't seems to gain traction after March 2016, is it safe for me to build my PC now?

Thank you so much for taking your time to go through my list  notworthy.gif

Are you rushing to build the rig? If not please wait for AMD RX 480 to reach Malaysia by end of this month/next month.

Wait for RX480 then, your budget can fit it, otherwise you gonna stick with last gen GPU (Nvidia 900 series and AMD 300 series).

Ask here again when RX480 gets released here nod.gif

Hmm, didn't you already ask for similar rig suggestion last week?

The build is still the same since the price doesn't change throughout the week.

[Budget]
RM2k, I could add slightly more to it

[Purpose]
Gaming, casual browsing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None.
None. I will have to build it from zero.

[Monitor resolution]
1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Dota 2, COD, Witcher, Fallout 4, GTA 5, and more..

[Personal preferences]
I'll prefer NVIDIA, but if AMD can deliver a stronger punch, why not? and I'm willing to go for used items as long it is still running perfectly to save cost for better perfomance.

I'm looking to build one before raya if possible. Heard the RX480 will be release soon, is there any chance that it will be released before raya? Because I have a long holiday, I dont want to just watching tv for 2 weeks.

Thanks!
*
Since you are building from scratch, no need to wait for RX480 already because it won't fit in your budget, estimated price for RX480 is 1k, you gonna settle with last gen card.

Intel Core i3 6098P - RM 441
Asus H110M-K - RM 273
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Palit GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 StormX - RM 475
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 166
Armageddon T1x - RM 95
BenQ GW2270 - RM 379
Logitech MK200 Wired Combo - RM 65

Total: RM 2240 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Since you said you can add slightly more into your budget so I guess extra RM 240 is should be fine.

If you are looking for used items, please proceed to Garage Sales and good luck hunting thumbsup.gif

thanks terence! much appreciated

edit: let say, I'll allocate more budget for RX480, can I use all the items you listed but with a RX480, will it works?
*
I recommend you to change the PSU if you want to swap to RX480 even though it is said to be very power efficient.

RX480 is packing the performance of R9 390/GTX970 (or even GTX980/R9 390X, will find out later when reviews and benchmarks are out), so pairing it with a dual core i3 is most likely to create bottleneck in triple A titles if it is very CPU demanding, light weight games like Dota 2 and CS:GO are fine though.

Hmmm 6k budget for Dota 2 only? Overkill bro sweat.gif

Even if you run Dota 2 at 4K UHD max settings, a 3k rig is enough.

I assume your screen resolution is 1080p (Full HD) and have a 5GHz (dual band) router.

I'll begin with 3k build first.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 845
MSI B150M Pro-DH (D4) - RM 346
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 131
Zotac GTX950 2GB GDDR5 Single Fan - RM 629
Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD - RM 249
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
TP-LINK T8E AC1750 PCIe WiFi - RM 215
Tecware Alpha - RM 189

You can refer to the few builds above, 2.5k can mostly fit an i5 (if RX480 is > 1k then the build have to be re-adjusted), 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD (SSD not included) etc.

PSU choice is unknown yet because we don't have a proper review and benchmark on it, all we got is the spec sheet paperwork provided by AMD.

RM7000 Max ( Lower the better, include monitor )

[Purpose]
Majority for gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
Liteon SSD 250GB

[Monitor resolution]
Prefer 2k

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Lightroom, GTA, Metal Gear Solid, Total War,

[Personal preferences]

1) Building Micro ATX case for spacious.
2) Prefer 1070 non-reference card with highest OC that can get.
3) Prefer modular PSU.
4) Hardisk is not necessary at the moment.
5) Will not have any OC. ( i7 6700 is preferred )

[Location]
SG

THANKS!!!
*
Location SG, are you buying from SG? If yes then I cannot help you with the pricing (and most likely the build as well since product range is different).

GTX1070 non reference is not released widely here yet so we have to wait for few more days/weeks before we can find out which one comes with highest OC capability and most importantly its price.

Currently the fastest GTX1070 is Asus Strix with boost clock up to 1860MHz, Zotac AMP Extreme and EVGA FTW Gaming and Gigabyte G1 Gaming should be the closest competitors (unannounced speed).

Just asking, I not sure what kind of motherboard I should get and which model of i7 best for my usage and price. Need research abit
*
For your budget, pick i7 6700.

As for mobo, it's mostly B150.

Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4)
MSI B150M Pro-DH (D4)

Both are mATX mobo, some mATX mobo come with 2 RAM slots only, some come with 4 (both models above come with 4), the main advantage of B150 over H110 is the extra 2 RAM slot so getting a B150 with 2 RAM slots only is somehow considered as a "waste".

Hi all sifus,

I am currently running:-

I5 - 4440 @ 3.10ghz
8gb ram
asrock mini itx
gtx 660
128gb ssd
1tb hdd
psu - forget

I have an old rig as stated in my signature but the gpu burnt and the rest are working fine. Wanna revive that rig while keeping the current one alive.

Can suggest how I can play around with the parts to run both rig? Definitely need to get a new GPU ofcourse (budget for gpu less than 1k)

eg - what I need to get/swap around/replace/add in etc.

Usage - Internet browing (lotssss of tabs), gaming (TOS, CS, Dota2), movie 1080p, torrent download and general usage.

Thank you so much in advance  icon_rolleyes.gif

Current shopping list:-
Monitor 32" - RM700
KB+mouse - RM150
speaker - ready
casing - ready
miscelaneous - RM100
GPU - <RM1k
TOTAL - Max RM1950

Trying to get my shopping list below RM1.5k cry.gif
*
Ok, a bit confused, so lets clear my confusion first.

You have an old rig (i7 2600K) with a faulty GPU, so you want to buy a new GPU for your old rig to keep it running right?

What about your current rig (i5 4400)? Anything not working?

My current rig from 2014:
Haven't been keeping up with hardware news for a long time, but wondering what's the most value buy for RM5000 today? (casing and parts that go into it only). Hoping to play GTA V, Mafia 3 on the highest settings (single monitor non-4k).
*
Your current rig is still able to keep up with the gaming requirements, the only thing that bothers me is "highest settings", this is very subjective, "highest settings" = turn on everything in the games settings, different game is having different in-game settings/rendering engine/requirements etc, hardware requirements tend to be much lower than those bad console port.

Since you have 5k for the upgrade, I would go with these items.

1. Get i7 4790/Xeon E3 1231 V3 so you don't have to change your mobo to LGA1151, performance improvement is not that huge from Haswell to Skylake, it is definitely not worth to change everything to Skylake from Haswell.

2. Get another 8GB RAM if you are a heavy multitasker.

3. Upgrade to GTX1070/GTX1080.

You can sell off your i5/GTX970 and add the money to the upgrade funds, but you are warned that the resell value for GTX970 has dropped drastically ever since AMD announced their RX480 recently mega_shok.gif

Your budget can fit AMD RX480, GTX1070 is too much for you.

You gonna wait for few more weeks first because RX 480 hasn't been released globally yet, if you cannot wait then let me know, I'll try to come out with a build for you.

Do you think I should buy a 480GB SSD now while waiting for RX version?
SanDisk 480GB SSDPlus RM379
or
Kingston SSDNow v300 480GB RM369

which one is better and is it worth? or probably the price will go down more.
*
If you have allocated another budget for the upcoming GPU then why not brows.gif

Avoid Kingston V300 series at all cost due to this reason.

Thanks for the sound advice!

Do you think waiting for the release of RX480 also has the benefit of lowering the price of RX380? Since it could be considered a predecessor and I am not really aiming for running super high-end intensive games nor looking forward to future game releases.

What do you think represents the best value-for-money GPU in the market now?
*
In Malaysia, it is very rare for old product to have a massive price drop, just look at the leftover stock of GTX780Ti, still selling at 2.5k while you can get a similar performance card e.g GTX970 below 1.5k only.

If you aren't going for RX480, you can wait for RX470 which is just announced today provided you can wait for another few weeks.

As for the GPU that you can buy locally, you can look for GTX750Ti (below RM 500), GTX960/R9 380 (around RM 850).

Both of them are entry level SSD so I cannot really say they are good when compared with other SSD.

But the price you posted is pretty good for an entry level SSD thumbup.gif

You can quote based on KL price, as I need the estimated recommendation rig so that I can check the price in SG. the estimated budget is RM7k.
*
Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1305
Gigabyte H170M-D3H (D4) - RM 424
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 262
GTX1070 Non-FE - RM 2300 (Estimated)
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Corsair Carbide 88R - RM 226

Total: RM 4880 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Not much QHD monitor in Malaysia to choose, not sure if the situation is the same in SG or not.

1. Dell U2515H - RM 1439
2. Dell U2715H - RM 2265
3. Dell S2716DG GSync TN 144Hz - RM 2669

Ok confusion cleared, so you are going to transfer your GTX660 to old rig.

The games you listed aren't GPU demanding at all, so a GTX750Ti/GTX950 is more than enough, your GTX660 is capable to handle them as well.

Add another 8GB RAM since you don't have enough RAM, RAM is cheap nowadays.

If you want to maximize your budget (1.5k I presume?)

Current shopping list:-
Monitor 32" - RM700
KB+mouse - RM150
speaker - ready
casing - ready
miscelaneous - RM100
GPU - <RM1k
TOTAL - Max RM1950

Trying to get my shopping list below RM1.5k

PC monitor 32" for RM 700 is impossible unless you go for LCD TV.

For KB and mouse, if you are ok with cheap yet reliable Logitech Wired Combo, you can go for Logitech MK200, around RM 65.

Add another 8GB of RAM for RM 130.

So you left around RM 600 for the GPU, I don't think RX480 will be priced below RM 600, the newly announced RX470 might still possible, if you cannot wait any longer, you have to settle with GTX950.

FYI GTX950 is almost on par with your current GTX660 so this upgrade isn't a real "upgrade".
