Budget: unsure. According to spec.

Purpose: gaming like crysis 3 skyrim dota2 fifa

Hi sifu, I'm planning to migrate from atx to mitx but I found that very limited choices i have.

I'm currently using i7 950 and planning to migrate my system currently inside CM Storm Trooper to Corsair Carbide 380t.

Part that will be used including ssd, hd, gtx460 x2 & i7 950 if possible.

I'm not sure my psu model cm 500w if not mistaken are fitted into these case.

Maybe need replace my noctua heat sink with water cooling 240mm rad.

Please share your opinions.
*
Swapping from ATX to mITX requires a mITX mobo too, your i7 950 is quite an aged platform so getting a new LGA1366 mobo to pair with the CPU is almost impossible now, you need to hunt for used mobo if you were to stay with the i7 950.

GTX460 x 2 means SLI right? If yes then you need to remove one of them because mITX mobo doesn't support SLI since it only comes with 1 PCIe slot.

Hi, helping my bro ask, any suggestion?

[B][Budget] 2000~3000

[Purpose] Heavy gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] WD 1TB HDD, 8GB Ram DDR3 1600, Mouse, keyboard, monitor (Need the PC with Case)

[Monitor resolution] 1920x1080

[Personal preferences] i5 6500/6600, at least gtx960, good cooling system

[Location] Selangor

Thank alot
*
Using DDR3 (not DDR3L) will damage the Skylake memory controller in the long run so just get a new 8GB DDR4 instead, it is very cheap nowadays anyway.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 845
MSI B150M Pro-DH (D4) - RM 346
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 128
Sapphire R9 380 4GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 955
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 153
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Tecware Alpha - RM 189

Total: RM 2979 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you aren't in a rush to build the rig, you can consider waiting for AMD RX 480 to reach Malaysia in the next couple of weeks.

Budget]2.5k

[Purpose]Upgrade Desktop from 2012 (Gaming)

[Monitor resolution]1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently]Farcry, witcher 3, division

[Personal preferences]Gaming

[Location]Selangor

[Current hardware]
1. i5-3470
2. MSI B75A-G43
3. NZXT Respire T40
4. Value DDR3 2x4GB RAM
5. Leadtek GTX680
6. Silverstone SST-ST60F-ES
7. NZXT Phantom 410
8. Intel 330 120GB SSD
9. WD 1TB Caviar blue
10. Dell U2312HM

EDIT: Motherboard and CPU Fan are 1 year old. Rest since 2012
*
CPU is still good enough to power latest games, it is not worth to upgrade to Skylake from Ivy Bridge, performance bump isn't huge, upgrade the GPU and get another 8GB of RAM if needed.

2.5k can get GTX1070 already thumbup.gif

When is GTX1070 gonna be released?
*
10th of June as announced by Nvidia.

Local stock availability remains unknown, but I think there will be a limited amount of stock available on the first day just like what happened on GTX1080 two weeks ago.

QUOTE(Nshade @ Jun 7 2016, 04:11 PM)
Hi terence,

Thanks for the recommendation. I was told that the motherboard which was recommended could be a bottleneck. They requested to use gigabyte b159m bazooka for 3k budget and gigabyte z170x gaming 3 mainboard for the 5k budget.

Does the motherboard really play such a big role in performance?

Thanks.
*
Motherboard doesn't create bottleneck, if you go for lower end/cheaper motherboard, you get lesser on-board features, that's all.

All the basic components that are needed to run a PC (including gaming PC) are all available even on the lowest end motherboard (CPU socket, at least 2 RAM slots, at least 1 PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, SATA, USB ports).

If you go for higher end model, you get extra features such as overclocking support, multi-GPU configuration support, M.2/PCIe SSD support, RAID support etc. If you don't use all these features, there isn't a need to pay extra money to get the specific expensive motherboard, it is just a waste.

Hi, thank you for fast respond. and yea not in rush, AMD RX 480 is better than GTX960 or 970?
*
Yes, based on the specs sheet given, it is estimated to be faster than R9 390X (which is already faster than GTX980 in terms of raw performance).

Yes. Not much choices for mainboard if keeping this bloomfield proc.

Since you wrote ddr4 quitr cheap nowadays, maybe can give me your opinion regrding mitx spec.

For the gpu, i will wait for AMD to release theirs first.

Not in rush to change. But if possible i try to get most part from Corsair.
*
Since budget is unmentioned/not fixed, so I will just for highest possible non-OC'able rig setup.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1305
Gigabyte H170N-WiFi - RM 516
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 128
Corsair Carbide 380T - RM 644

Total: RM 2593 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

PSU, SSD, HDD can be reuse.

If you are waiting for AMD VEGA 10 then you gonna need to wait for another few more months (Q4 2016), by the time VEGA comes out, Intel Kaby Lake (7th gen) should have been released as well.

Hi all, good morning, would appreciate if you could suggest a build based on the following:

[B][Budget] Around RM3,600 with monitor and Windows

[Purpose] Gaming, but not a very intense and serious gamer. Don't mind playing at low to mid settings for games as long as it can run smoothly.

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Only speaker, keyboard and mouse.

[Monitor resolution] Anything that will fit the purpose for this build.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Mostly real time strategy and first person shooter kind of games. Not using any graphic intensive software.

[Personal preferences] None for now.

[Location] Petaling Jaya / Kuala Lumpur

Thank you in advance and have a nice day to all.
*
A similar question that I need to ask everyone here recently - are you in a rush to build the PC? If not then please wait for AMD RX480 which is scheduled to be here in next couple of weeks (end of Jun/July) instead.

Hi, thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately my laptop may not last that long as it is dying soon, so I may have to build the PC before the card is out.
*
Alright, since you mentioned you are ok with low/mid settings, so I would recommend you to use the Skylake iGPU to play games first for the time being until new AMD card gets released here.

Skylake i3/i5/i7 iGPU (HD 530) is equivalent to GT740/R7 250 in terms of performance.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 845
MSI B150M Pro-DH (D4) - RM 346
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 128
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Tecware Alpha - RM 189
BenQ GW2470H - RM 536

Total: RM 2622 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Left around 1k for GPU and Windows 10 key.

RX480 is price at $199 and after applied conversion rate (RM 4.1) + GST + distributor mark up, I estimate the price will be around RM 900 - RM 1000.

There are some people reported that ETech is installing Windows 10 for free for those who buy rig from them, I am not entirely sure on this, you can contact them yourself to learn more.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 845
MSI B150M Pro-DH (D4) - RM 346
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 128
AMD RX480
Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB SSD - RM 153
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
Tecware Alpha - RM 189

Yes & yes, you can buy other brand but price might not be the same, usually RAM comes with lifetime warranty nod.gif

p/s: is it a good time to get nvidia graphic cards now? Or better to wait until GTX 1070/1080 is released here?
thanks sifus! feel free to pm me if any lowyat dealer here.  rclxm9.gif

Your budget cannot fit GTX1070 and GTX1080 (they are over 2k) but probably can fit AMD RX480 ($199) which is scheduled to be released later this month.

Are you rushing to build the rig or can wait for AMD RX480?

If cannot wait then you gonna settle with current gen hardware which will be obsoleted soon when new GPU arrives in Malaysia, just FYI so you don't regret later.

Hi Terence, thanks for reply.

I am not getting GTX1070.. what I mean is when they release probably the lower GPU prices will drop. I hope to get a cheaper GTX960 or GTX970 if possible.

Yea i can wait. AMD RX480 is equivalent to Nvidia =? sorry not familiar with AMD but i'm ok with both brand.

You are right, my friends also recommend me to wait..... hmm rolleyes.gif
*
Not recommended to get obsoleted parts even they have a massive price drop, but you know this is Malaysia, price drop rarely happens TBH, only got price increase biggrin.gif

AMD RX 480 is estimated to be faster than R9 390X/GTX980 by judging at the spec sheet given by AMD, proper official review and benchmark to be available soon once the embargo is lifted.

QUOTE(jin2x @ Jun 8 2016, 06:35 PM)
btw if it helps if i add another ram does the speed double up ? or it's ok to just maintain with one ram ?

Thank you for the prompt reply ^^ rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif

More RAM is always better when you do a lot of rendering/editing and multitasking, but you need to perform some top up from your current budget to get another 8GB.

Your budget can fit the upcoming AMD RX 480, so it is the same question again, can you wait for few more weeks before building the rig?

If yes then wait for RX 480, if cannot then you gonna settle with current gen hardware (soon to be obsoleted).
