Hi guys, 1st time building rig, need suggestion

[B][Budget] rm3000  (+-200)

[Purpose] Gaming, at least most of 2015 games can play in high maybe?

[Hardwares that will be re-use] none

[Monitor resolution] planning to buy 24" - so up to 1080 reso

[Games & softwares that use frequently] want to play after got rig- witcher 3, far cry primal, far cry 4(again), fallout4

[Personal preferences] maybe gtx 960( 4gb and 2gb- really got huge difference?)

[Location] KL- Gombak.
*wta- 1.fps above 30fps is playable right?
2.after gtx 1080&1070 released, will have effect on gtx 950/960/970 price?

Sorry long post.hahaha
*
1. Yes, > 30 FPS is playable but not that smooth and have screen tearing.
2. Price changes remain to be seen, but Maxwell cards have started to float the 2nd hand market now.
3. Game which uses more than 2GB VRAM will benefit from 4GB, this enables you to run higher quality texture, environment texture etc.

I suggest you to wait for AMD Polaris instead if you are not in a rush.

Scared by then 1080Ti out, hard for me to sell off 980Ti sad.gif
*
Even if you sell your 980Ti now, you hardly able to find people to buy unless you sell it at a very low price or someone is getting another 980Ti for SLI.

This is a never ending cycle, by the time 1080Ti is out, you might feel itchy to sell off your 1080 to get 1080Ti again due to the so-called "overpowered" performance.

If you are already satisfied with the performance of 980Ti now (assume you aren't gaming at 4K) then why bother to upgrade to 1080 that doesn't bring huge performance improvements, 980Ti is still performing very well on 1080/1440p.

Can someone quote me a rig form RM1400 for a steambox machine ?

Using Fractal Node  202 casing.
*
You already have the casing right?

I recommend you to increase your budget, FD Node 202 requires SFX PSU which is very expensive and not budget friendly.

You mentioned Steambox so I assume it is for gaming?

1.4k can barely build a mITX rig for gaming FYI.

Dear Sifus here,

I want to get a rig , but don know where and start from where.

These are my requirement,
I need to open all apps in one time,
-google chrome (3 tabs, 1 consists of youtube - Resolution should be 360/480 video running)
-Microsoft Excel
-Dota 2 ( in Max Graphic)
-work Non air-cond room
-Ideally SSD (small memory will do, hope there is a socket can expand in future)
-I don play other game (GTA,Crysis 3 or bla bla bla)
- I don need mouse/ keyboard / Speakers / monitor) basically just need the rig only.

My understanding is I require I7(for such multi task) + SSD + Nvidia GTX XXX (At least 750 or more to maximize the game)?

Budget: 2-3k
i7 + SSD + GPU

Question: If i buy in lowyat/ digital mall ss14, do they assembled these stuff for me? or i have to do it myself?

Sifus please help, thank you very much for your time to answering me this newbie.

Despite of that, I found one Asus A20J 3.3k, does it consider a good buy? ASUS G20AJ (But seems they have take out some great stuff to keep the price low)

Intel® Core™ i7-4790 3.6GHz (HD Graphics 4600)
2GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX760 2GB (1HDMI,2DVI,1DP)8GB DDR3 1600L Memory (Extra 1RAM slot available)
1TB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) Hybrid 8GB SSD
Blu-Ray Disc Writer
Windows 8.1
Wireless keyboard & mouse
3 years warranty by ASUS
*
You don't need i7 for those tasks, i5 is enough, even i3 is possible if you are on a tight budget, what you need is more RAM for multitasking.

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 815
Gigabyte B150M-D3H (D4) - RM 379
Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 256
Zotac GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 Single Fan - RM 489
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 195
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 166
Tecware Alpha - RM 189

Total: RM 2704 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Assemble service is provided usually unless the shop that you go doesn't have a ready technician available, charges might apply.

Hi there, thank you for giving me ur guidance !
May I know why there two hard drive in the specification ? A Sata and SSD?

And any idea the spec that I posted earlier ( Asus A20J ), do u know whether is a worth buy ?

Appreciate you help ! Thank you !
*
SSD is for OS so to shorten your boot time and increase the overall system responsiveness.

HDD is to store common data/files/video/music etc.

Two of the drives I listed are running on SATA interface, for example, SATA SSD and SATA HDD.

I usually won't recommend people to go for pre-built OEM PC unless their budget is tight or need AIO (all-in-one) package, 3.3k for the specs of Asus A20J isn't really that worth, you can get a much better build with such budget.

Terence, Im actually planning to go 3440 x 1440 screen doh.gif not sure if the 980Ti could handle it with high settings @.@
*
1440p (21:9) is still fine for 980Ti, not all games support 21:9 ultra-wide natively so you end up with 2560 x 1440 (16:9) with black border at the side for those games.

just asking for fun ahh tongue.gif
Is Asus monitors good ah? or overpriced stuffs nia?
Is U2515H good compared to XB27? kinda tempted for the 27inch model, or is it better to tambah another RM1k for the X34? xD
*
Asus GSync monitors are overpriced, not worth to get it unless you are an Asus fanboy biggrin.gif

U2515H and XB271HU are under different tiers, one aims for productivity and multimedia, another one aims for gaming industry.

X34 is a 21:9 monitor, as said earlier, not all games do well on 21:9 monitor and the max frequency supported is 100Hz only via overclocking.

I personally won't pick the X34 for the time being because its specifications don't impress me much, paying 4k+ for a curve gaming monitor is a little bit too premium for me innocent.gif

Hi all,

i am looking to build a PC here.
currently i already have proc I7 6700 + Mobo Gigabye H170M-D3H.

Now i need, RAM, SSD,PSU,CASING and GPU.

16GB Ram,
240Gb SSD
Any good PSU that reliable and cheap. below RM250
MATX Casing
GPU is a tricky one. i am just a casual gamer. just need a good GPU  and reliable for another 2-3 years.

budget for item above should be less or around 2k.

Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

Corsair 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 256
Kingston HyperX Fury 240GB SSD - RM 305
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Corsair Carbide 88R - RM 226

Total: RM 975 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you aren't in a rush, you can try to wait for AMD Polaris, AMD Polaris focuses on mainstream GPU market so I guess there might be a new R9 480 which costs around 1k+/-.

hmm... what do you think abt XB271HU then? does the price justify it? :3
its RM3k+ (Fatality for wallet haha)
*
I am using XB271HU now, bought it below 3k last time when it got released here, 2.9k to be precise if I recall correctly.

I am an IPS fan and it is first IPS monitor to feature 144Hz (165Hz via OC) so it is definitely a must buy for me.

So far so good, everything performs perfectly when paired with 980Ti.

Asus PG279Q is having the similar specs but it is priced at 4k though.

thank you bro for your suggestion.
although i am wondering about AMD Polaris, is it as good as Nvidia current Maxwell?
or should i just wait for current nvidia 960/970 to drop price when 1070/1080 reached our shore?
*
AMD Polaris is aimed to replace R9 380 and R9 390 according to rumors so of course it gonna be better than Maxwell.

Hi All,

wanted to buy gaming laptop but no budget for it.

So i've decided to upgrade my pc with whatever i can salvage. Need new casing and at least to have 16g ram as i like to alt+tab with a lot of windows open.

1. My budget is 2500 to 3000.

2. Parts i wish to keep if possible:
SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W
1 TB harddisk. (not sure what the brand is)

3. Purpose of my pc is gaming. Want to upgrade so i can get 60 fps on total war warhammer (1080p).

4. Can i fit in SSD with this budget?at least 128gb.

5. I guess have to buy new OS too right? How much does this cost nowadays?
Thank you Sifus.

Asus H110M-K - RM 273

Tecware Alpha - RM 189

If you aren't in a rush, please wait for AMD Polaris, Total War: Warhammer is a DX12 title as well so most likely it will have a better performance on AMD card than Nvidia card.

Please take note that GPU is not included in the build yet, if you want to buy everything now, you can get a R9 380 4GB.

Windows 10 Home OEM key is around RM 200+/-.

I can speak for Dell UltraSharp series because I own two of them (U2414H and U2417H), it is a premium monitor with ultra thin bezel, high color accuracy and comes with a beautiful IPS display.

For the other 2 models, they are basically the same, just different brands, 144Hz is another thing that you won't want to miss out if you are a gamer and have > 1k budget, once you go for 144Hz, I can guarantee you won't go back to 60Hz easily (99% chance biggrin.gif ), everything feels laggy on 60Hz whistling.gif .

QUOTE(eugenelimys @ May 21 2016, 02:37 PM)
Terence, worth selling GTX970 for GTX1080?
*
Yes, but you gonna top up nearly 2k for a GTX1080 assuming you sold the GTX970 for 1k+/-.

How about 970 for 1070?
*
Yup, it is worth as well but 1k+/- top up is required as well, preorder price for FE is RM 2299, AIB card should be slightly cheaper, around 2k+.

Basically Pascal is aimed at Kepler or Fermi users, Maxwell is still quite competitive currently, if you are upgrading just for the sake of upgrading, then I suggest you to wait for next gen instead, unless you really do have the budget for this upgrade.
