Good afternoon,

Here's my desktop spec:

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990fx r2.0
RAM: 8 gb
GPU: ASUS Nvidia GTX680
Processor: AMD FX4300 Quad core

I am planning to upgrade my processor, as for GPU i have to wait and see on the Polaris and Pascal in next few months.

Is FX8350 a good upgrade ? I am using my desktop mostly for gaming and occasional work related stuff (using microsoft office).

I did some googling and many recommend switching to i3 or i5, but I cannot afford that, as the motherboard was just recent purchase around end of 2014.

Thank you.
*
Well you can sell off your current CPU & mobo & RAM and add the money into your upgrade funds for i5.

If you really want to stay with AMD, then yea FX8350 is one of the choices, if you care about your electricity bill, then you can pick the 8320E which is made for efficiency.

Hi everyone,

I am currently building one custom rig and below is the specification after some study (prices are from C-Zone, I believe the price won't differ too much between shops):

[CPU] CORE I3 6100 (2C/4T) - RM 466
[MAINBOARD] ASUS H110M-K - RM 292
[RAM] CORSAIR D4 PC2133 VALUE 8GB - RM 127
[HARDDISK] WESTERN DIGITAL BLUE 1TB - RM 201
[POWER SUPPLY] COOLER MASTER 460W ELITE POWER  - RM 189
[CASING] COOLER MASTER ELITE SERIES CASING - RM 159

[MONITOR] SAMSUNG S24E310HL 23.6" - RM 535

Is there any parts that I can change where the cost can be reduced without downgrading the performance too much?

My main usage for this rig will be browsing internet, watching video and performing some office work. I don't have any preference in brands as well.

Thanks in advance.
*
The PSU can be downgraded but sadly C-Zone do not carry FSP PSU.

Only to run those listed games at max settings?

Do you plan to play other games too? If yes then I will try to come out with a 3.5k build.

Appreciate the answer thank you.

If making the switch to intel, is i5-6600k the one I go for gaming (genre: FPS and RTS) ? And any motherboard with a 1151 socket ?

thank you
*
Go for "K" series CPU only if you want to overclock, otherwise stick with non-K CPU.

You need Z170 series mobo to overclock, this will increase the total cost for the upgrade/switch.

I suggest you to go for this instead, i5 6500 + B150/H170 + 8GB DDR4 RAM, this will cost you roughly 1.3k+/-.

Hi guys total computer noob here.

Currently I have an old desktop at home with intel E8400 chip on a LGA 775 socket. not sure how to check motherboard model (sry).

So now I need a basic graphic card that is able to power 2 1920x1080 monitors(multi display). Usage: youtube/charts/dota2. Im wondering if I buy an amd radeon R5 230 or nvidia GT610 would it be compatible with my old motherboard?

Thanks in advance!
*
May I know your PSU model and budget for the GPU?

thanks for your prompt reply!

coolermaster 390w. as low as possible.  blush.gif

then main aim is to power 2 diff monitors and read financial charts. dont have to run dota2 at max settings.

so are the entry level GPUs I mentioned enough and compatible with my old motherboard?  hmm.gif
*
Don't worry, modern GPU uses PCIe interface to connect to mobo and this interface was introduced nearly 10+ years ago so you can install any modern GPU in your PC without any major issue.

You can consider Sapphire R7 240 1GB GDDR5, around RM 250, it supports 2 monitors (max), if you are planning to add another one in the future (3 in total), then go for R7 250/GT 740.

hey man, i have another question.. could you suggest me a motherboard with really good sounding audio output cause i listen to music a lot and was wondering if there were better audio codecs ?

Thanks in advance
*
Get a high end sound card, but it ain't cheap though.

If you are just a normal person who listen to music a lot (like most of us) and is using a 2.0/2.1 speaker/headphone setup then you don't really need to buy any aftermarket sound card though, unless you are an audiophile which is having 5.1/7.1 sound system.

The onboard sound card is good enough for casual users.

Quick one, which is a better PSU in terms of performance/efficiency ? Corsair CS550W or Cooler Master V550S? I am aware that one is modular the other isn't. Perhaps can suggest another Gold Rated PSU? Which is in a similar price range to these?
*
Both are also semi modular PSU.

CM V series is more worth than Corsair CS series in terms of internal components (capacitors, fuse etc.), there is a full modular version, V550 but I don't think it is available in Malaysia yet, only V650 and above is available.

If you are thinking to get a Gold rated PSU to save some electric bill then you can forget about it, the saving per month is very little only if you do the maths sweat.gif

Other Gold rated & full modular PSU which is worth to get is Corsair RM650x or CM V650, they are around RM 500, stick with Bronze rated if they are out of your budget.

best complet pc with budget 3.5k smile.gif

yes, other games in future too... with maximum budget 3.5k
*
Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 815
Asus H110M-K - RM 273
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 133
Zotac GTX970 4GB GDDR5 Reference - RM 1397
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 188
Tecware Alpha - RM 189
AOC E2180SWN - RM 350

Total: RM 3560 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Slight overbudget sweat.gif

If you can wait then I suggest you to wait, new GPU is coming out soon, you might regret later when you find out you are actually paying for something that is going to obsolete soon (maybe in 2 months time).

how does these 2 compare with FSP Hexa+ 550W ?
Its probably cheaper.
but abut the caps/fuse and stable current etc.....
*
They all fall in different tier so you cannot compare them directly.

CM V series is the highest end series in CM PSU line up, it uses high quality Japanese capacitors while Corsair CS series is one of the low end series with 80+ Gold rating (rare case), the internal components are found to be mixed with Japanese and Taiwanese parts, the price of this PSU is expensive (overpriced), if you were to choose this PSU, I will suggest you to go for Bronze rated Seasonic M12II EVO/S12II series instead.

FSP Hexa+ is considered one of the best low end PSU (below RM 200 mark). It doesn't have the best internal components but the price is very worth considering it is from the popular FSP OEM.

As for current stability, review etc, you can find more info online.

Appreciate you help. Thanks.

Your pendrive is plugged into USB 2.0 or 3.0 port?

If 3.0 then please try to use 2.0 instead.

*
Alright usually if you use 3.0 then switch to 2.0 will work but not in your case so maybe try to redownload the ISO and create the bootable drive using either the media installer creator or Rufus, this is suggested by Microsoft on their support KB article.

And make sure your BIOS is up to date.

oh thanks
I though the CM V stands for Value.

ok i think its just 2 options for me, either FSP hexa, next up would be Seasonic S12II
what about somewhere in between like their FSP Hyper seriers?
Dont think ive seen anyone recommend it before?
*
FSP Hyper series is fine as well, better than the same priced CM B series and Thunder M series, but price is quite close to Seasonic S12II so normally I will top up a bit and go for it instead.

I see, what about models from Seasonic? Like X-560 or G-550? IINM they are the OEM for some of CM's PSU? unsure.gif
*
X and G series is made up by Seasonic itself.

Part of the CM V series (850, 1000 etc.) is from Seasonic, some are from Enchance Electronics, lower end models are from CWT and Seventeam.

4k budget for software programming purpose is quite overkill, still left plenty of budget even if I were to go for i7.

Intel Core i7 6700 - RM 1258
Asus H110M-K - RM 273
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 133
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 145
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Total: RM 2173 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Optional upgrade:
1. Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 195
2. Another 8GB RAM

Okie. A little update. I've used the same method and burn the iso file into the dvd using the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/wi...d-download-tool

I've got the following error code. 0x80070570. I am going to redownload the ISO file. Might have been corrupted.  sweat.gif

You can check the MD5/SHA code to ensure the downloaded ISO file is valid nod.gif

QUOTE(sleepy 1 @ May 7 2016, 11:29 PM)
I am going to build my second PC rig for mainly-photography/video editing/rendering and 2nd gaming (rise of tomb raider) purpose by next month or two.

I am in dilemma between i7 5820k vs i7 6700k. Could anyone advise is there any difference in real world for 6core vs 4core processor?

Motherboard no idea. Might do light over clock(1 button over clock)
My ram is either 2 x 8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX  3000mhz or 2 x 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4
PSU -thinking of EVGA 750 G2 or any alternative suggestion? I prefer full modular PSU.
GPU would be gtx 1070 or 1080 depending on their price
CPU cooler should be Phanteks PH-TC14PE (or any other suggestions?)
Casing should be either Phanteks Enthoo pro or Phanteks Enthoo pro m. (Can it fit my gear?)
I would use existing ssd and hard-disk.

Did I miss anything and is there any better suggestion for my rig?
*
Video rendering does benefit from hexa core CPU, go for it if you can afford it, as for daily and gaming usage, quad core is more than enough. By the time (in 2 months time) you are ready to buy the rig, Intel Broadwell-E should have been released.

I don't think EVGA PSU is officially available in Malaysia unless you import from overseas which I don't recommend you to do so.

Is it this software that you're referring?

Updated:
I check via the software above and everything matched.

In addition, tried looking at youtube for the Error code: 0x80070570, did a quick removal and installation of the RAM but to no avail.

So what would be problems behind?  cry.gif
