Simple gaming? How simple is that? If it is only some basic 2D games, then you can remove the GPU (or downgrade it if the software you use requires CUDA).

Thank you so much for the recommendation.  smile.gif

I have a couple of questions if you dont mind.

Can I get i7 instead of i5? i7 is better right?
Why is the graphic so expensive?
Is 8GB ram enough according to your experience?
Do I need the 1TB HDD? I was thinking of using external HDD for storage.
*
You asked for a multimedia PC without stating extra information, so I assume it is for gaming (for your BF), movies, browsing and etc which aren't CPU demanding at all so I went with i5 instead of i7, i7 won't benefit you for those tasks listed unless you are going to do video rendering/editing etc.

You said you must get a good graphics card for gaming, so I included a high end GPU for you, please bear in mind GPU price is always > CPU price, consumer grade i7 costs at most 1.6k but consumer grade GPU can go as high as 4k (and more).

As for RAM, same thing as well, you didn't state what you are going to do with the PC, for basic stuffs (even gaming), 8GB is enough.

1TB HDD is the standard nowadays, 500GB is just around RM 20 cheaper than 1TB which isn't worth at all. Game/FHD movie file size is getting bigger and bigger nowadays, 1TB HDD is just barely enough TBH.

External HDD normally comes with 5,400 RPM only which is slower than internal HDD's 7,200 RPM FYI.

Idealtech seems like a good PC customization company, should I ask them to install for me instead?

I plan to buy from them, less hassle and got warranty.

This is similar to the build that I had suggested earlier at slightly higher price due to different KB/mouse/monitor selection, gaming is fine (don't expect everything to run on max though), rendering is fine too.

You left roughly RM 220 with this build, Revit does use GPU but your budget can only fit low end GPU (GT730) which isn't really worth to spend on it currently, you can either use the money to get a 120GB SSD now or save the money first and get a more powerful dedicated GPU later when you have more funds.

I Have some final question before building my rig.

Intel SSD 540s, worth to get this ?

Asus GTX950 OC, any bottle neck if I use Gigabyte H110M DS2 Mobo.
*
The base price of Intel 540 is quite high, nearly RM 290 for 120GB model (or you found a better deal?), 240GB is more worth though, if you are getting 120GB then you better off with Samsung 850 EVO.

H110 chipset is having native PCI-E 3.0 support, so no bottleneck there, you can even plug in a GTX980Ti without any issue, usually mobo doesn't create any sort of bottleneck (even with PCI-E 2.0 because the bandwidth is enough for modern GPU), CPU/RAM is the one we need to focus when we talk about bottleneck, as well as the game itself (how the game utilizes the resources available etc.).

Hi guys been thinking of building a new gaming rig. So wanna ask some opinions for a rig budget RM5k including a 144hz 1080p monitor possible to build? I only need DotA 2 to run at 144hz, other games I don't mind not being able to max everything. Another thing is if its possible to build it in a small form factor instead of full sized towers?
*
This build is to max out your budget, it can run other triple A titles without any major issue (but of course not at 144Hz).

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 745
Gigabyte H170N-WiFi - RM 537
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 133
Sapphire R9 390 8GB GDDR5 Nitro - RM 1536
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 195
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W - RM 363
CM Elite 130 - RM 178
Acer XB240H 144Hz - RM 1169

Total: RM 5071 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

If you want to save money and only care about 144Hz on Dota 2 then you can consider this.

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 464
Asus H110i-PLUS - RM 365
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 133
Asus GTX960 4GB GDDR5 Turbo - RM 954
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa 550W - RM 188
CM Elite 130 - RM 178
Acer XB240H 144Hz - RM 1169

Total: RM 3666 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

Hello there.

Can honorable sifu(s) suggest a rig around rm4000 or is it better to just wait for better parts. If it's better to wait, then when is the perfect time for it?

AMD fan so prefer AMD processor(already got one in mind but would like to see others).

Will not go intel.(rather just wait for Zen if it's comes to that)

Not in a hurry so if it's not a good idea to build AMD rigs in general don't worry,I won't build it.(I'll wait) I just wanna see some AMD rig suggestion.

Note:

Every suggested rig is intel these days. Kinda got sick of seeing it. Is AMD really THAT bad?
*
If you prefer AMD CPU then you better wait for Zen, current AMD CPU is very aged and is slacking behind Intel in terms of single core/threaded performance by miles and investing in a dead platform just doesn't make sense at all.

Hi guys, I want to change from laptop to a rig. My laptop currently is Asus G751, (Core i7 4710HQ, GTX970M). Reason is I feel my laptop is under utilized, I only play CS:GO, and Fifa 16 a lot. No other games. Can recommend me a build for it? 3k budget maybe? or if less better smile.gif thanks!
*
You asked for a rig so I assume monitor isn't required.

Intel Core i3 6100 - RM 464
Gigabyte H110M-DS2 (D4) - RM 289
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 133
Zotac GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 ZT-70605-10M - RM 489
Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SSD - RM 195
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215
FSP Hexa+ 400W - RM 145
Bitfenix Nova - RM 149

Total: RM 2079 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

As cheap as requested, you can remove the SSD if you don't need it.

If you plan to play other games especially triple A titles on 1440p then you better upgrade your GTX950, otherwise it is fine for the games you listed nod.gif

Intel Core i5 6500 - RM 804
Gigabyte H170-HD3 (D4) - RM 486
Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 133
Corsair Force LE 240GB SSD - RM 369

Total: RM 1792 (ETech price inclusive of GST)

3k budget is too much for 4 items sweat.gif

You can save money by downgrading to mATX mobo or 120GB SSD.
