bro any news of the vx7r?

It's very easy, as long as the clearance 6 feet & above & the whip is flexible also. within a minute i can detached the whip & whole antenna about 3 minute, for HF antenna, no need to drill & make a hole, just use Diamond K400-3/8 side mounting. it can stand up to 140KM/h during my trip form Miri to Kuching which took 11 hours (834KM) coz not fully 100% we have a cellular coverage in sarawak. another thing, it's a perfect HF motorize antenna either for commercial or amateur and easily can maintained the SWR 1: 1.2 within 1.8Mhz to 50Mhz. another antenna on middle is my VHF, that one have to drill like police waja.

Regards

ICV8
This radio features military grade construction, CTCSS/DTCS encode/decode with tone scan and a full 5.5 watts out with the optional BP-222N battery. Low power output (0.5 watts) is also featured. The V8 has three different scan modes. These are Programmed, Memory and Priority Watch. Zoom through your personalized scan ranges, 3 user selectable pairs at 40 channels per second. You also get 100 alphanumeric (5 character) memory channels. Each memory stores frequency, name, tone, output power and duplex setting. Plus enjoy fast 40 channel per second scanning. Five DTMF memory channels with up to 24 DTMF codes allow remote operation. The optional DTMF decoder unit (UT-108) provides code squelch operation and pager functions.

or spender also is quite ok

weird selection, but i i will add that scs shop's stuff is kinda on the high side

instead of a v8, which is old i would suggest a v82, but then if u going for a v85 wich is around 400 ++ - 500 i would suggest a v85 wich is half the size but uses a new lit ion batt instead of a nimh ...

and the spender yeah its ok, with the ori car adapter set which u can at times boost it up all the way to 25w ...

but instead of getting a spender at about 500 i would actually go for a motorola mt777 or a tk508 ... generic version of puxing ... get a sma to bnc adapter get a better antenna ... and u are good to go ... if u wan get a potato mic ... thats all

vx7 is bout 1.4k new ...

my experience so far is with

v82, vhf only, very good hold, full size radio ... bnc adapter ...

vx170, vhf only, better than v82, sturdy design, have to buy optional bnc adapter bout RM35 from HK tru ebay, maza sells it as well ... RM28 - RM30with shipping

ft60r, dua band vhf and uhf - ability to scan trunk radio, rugged design ... small ...

tk508, vhf only - lightweight, lit ion batt, programming could be a lil hard and scanning function is slow and complicated to use ...

mt777, same as tk508

it depends for on your budget, if got the money y not get a good set, but for me as a beginner & with the limitation money that i have, i choose tk-508 with additional a telescopic antenna as my first rig/handy (don't know which is the correct term) thumbup.gif

everyone have their own preference right
