Glitches like that does happen sometimes although not frequent. My gf unlocked her promo offer by taking a non-promo ride but didn't receive the code via notification.

Grab trying to be smart ass here. They make things complicated for the average Joe, end up not many going to apply that promo code and might get frustrated instead. You also have to manually enter the code to apply it, making it clunky to use their app. Uber otherwise is just straight forward and feels comfortable using their app. If want to give promo, then just give it out. dont make it difficult for user to apply their code, chinaman mentality, want to give code but kiasu

No kidding. On top of having to manually enter codes EACH TIME one needs to book a ride, he or she also has to contend with the codes not working (MOST OF THE TIME) or expiring early! Uber, one just needs to apply the promo code once and it works until it expires...

I used to be a fan of Grab, but its latest policies and actions have caused me to gravitate more towards Uber.

How sad.

I guess Grab is tracking riders account. Those always use promos and non paying may not get good promos. It seems uber nowadays is following Grab to rewards selective riders only.

Yeah, I compare fares every time i use a ride, and it is really clunky and takes more time to find the code in their notification, apply it then selecting it!

If you want to be able to get the promo code, its pretty simple.

Make sure your rating is high, to be safe, keep it above 4.5 because that is where I suppose ~10%-20% of Uber's passenger makes up 80% of the rides and revenue. Make sure your average cost per ride is >RM6 to get that RM6 coupon, and >RM10 to get that RM10 coupon. You get the idea.

These are some of the metrics their analyst and marketeers use when considering who to give out coupons.
