I for one don't agree with prosperity gospels. But unknown warrior have a different view on this. 

Yes I believed God shall provide for us, nevertheless He has provided US with enough.

I just don't like prosperity preachers misleading the congregations. Thats all.

To me, prosperity gospels sounds like MLM.

Historically, all the well known pastors and missionaries took up their cross.  I don't see them financially prosperous except spiritually rewarding.  I only see modern day pastors financially prosperous like the case of City Harvest pastor.

de_luffy, so I was watching this documentary about China..Did you know that “pigtails” were associated with a girl’s marital status. A young girl would wear two pigtails, and when she married, she would wear just one. This may have contributed to the Western view that pigtails are associated with children and young girls. 

Last sunday at DUMC, the message had a tune of change. At first, I heard about spirit of brotherhood, fellowship and accountability.

And then the pastor talk about single people at the church. Then its that theme again - give and give and give.

He speaks of the singles have all the time in the world to serve because their focus is not distracted. True.

He says to serve will improve maturity in Christ. Not True!

Why I say this, during my time of serving, I have watched the most immature christians I have ever encountered ! I believe serving creates more attitude problem people. I know one christian brother who served full time, is one of the most anal guy i have ever met. When I go out mamak with him, he told me to buy the satay 15 sticks, he ate 3 sticks, he say to me "nah you pay la, and eat the rest !". What an ass. Then during conversation, if say something he dun like, he got so many hot buttons, he will threaten to walk out. Question the church system of multiplicating cg also, he get angry and threaten to abandon me in middle of no where because I follow his car. Apa ini? How to evangelise when he get angry so easily? Some more he cg leader. What a moron.

I would say it has to come with a proper syllabus of bible study, lots of quiet time, fellowship and love from fellow church members, experience with handling people, a bit of street smart, common sense and then only serving would create an army of mature christian. Not the discipline of serving alone.

He say the singles should serve. Exploitation !!!! Slave labour !!!! Just because we are singles doesn't mean we got all the time in the world. Again- the theme of serving, every week they are preaching this !!!! Can't they just spare one sermon without the veiled attempt to recruit servers. We know what to do. Isn't going out to the marketplace, being with our friends and family also part of serving? Serving is not limited to helping the church activities. We go to work, its our role as ambassadors of Christ to share the gospel and show them good conduct. That's where the church is missing. THey want us to spend our whole weekends at church, no wonder so many poor guys and girls in their 30s and 40s still single at the church. The leaders there must be relishing, they got so many new recruits who can spend time serving. Its a big wonder that marriage and finding life partner is the least emphasis at DUMC !

You should speak to some of the singles there, complete ultras ! They are so indoctrinated. At least there is a change in the pastors message, he tells the singles to relate to each other, I think the Holy Spirit is starting to touch the leadership, on the need for fellowship and feeling connected to the church. Some of the singles there are very indoctrinated and not friendly to other singles.
