im using btvx. do u think this hsf can result this?
*
Shouldn't be. shakehead.gif

Unless if you're using in a freaking cool air conditioned room with a 2HP air conditioner. laugh.gif

But if you're using in a normal room without any air conditioner, that means your motherboard sensor chip should have bugs in it. laugh.gif

QUOTE(azuan_az @ Mar 23 2007, 05:25 PM)
Dear experts,

Need some cunsultation regarding fan speed...as my CPU fan is driving me crazy...

Since buying my new set PC and had a friend installed it for me, ive been tortured by the super ultra noisy fan in my CPU. For the first few mintues that i run my system, the sound will be very nice and slow but after 5-10 minutes the fan starts to get into action and CPU temp by speedfan averages at 60 celcius.

When i run games and my Flight Simulator the temp rise to average 73-74 degrees and the fan noise is as loud as my flight sim aircraft engine sound....

Here are my specs and some screenies....I'm not an expert with system and willing to spend some $$$ to get rid of this annoying noise and if possible put my cpu back where it should be (see attached pic below)

Specs:
CPU: P4 LGA775 3.00Ghz 1MB L2Cache, 800Mhz FSB
MOBO: MSI Intel 865PE Neo3 Chipset Board
RAM: 512 Gig (plan to upgrade soon)
GPU: Asus GeForce FX 5500
HD: Maxtor 160GB

HELP!

Thanks
*
The answer is simple.
It's because from the picture u put there, it seems like u're using stock intel heatsink, that's why it's super noisy + super hot. laugh.gif

Want your processor to be cool + silent? brows.gif

Buy a 3rd party heatsink for your processor and fix it with a super silent fan. thumbup.gif

Get Thermalright Ultra 120.
The best 3rd Party CPU Cooler thumbup.gif

I can see someone selling in the CPU & Motherboards, Casings & PSU Section in the garage sales thread. thumbup.gif

Go Go Go! laugh.gif

Anyway at 65C, is it consider high already? Do I need to get a cooler? shocking.gif
*
Yeah.
Is your pc specs like what in your signature?

If it's true, i think it's kinda high for an AMD64 3000+ laugh.gif

added: motherboard at 50-55C, is it safe?
*
No.

That's pretty high IMO.
U should replace the northbridge heatsink and you'll got a lower temp for your motherboard temps.

Normally motherboard temps is identified as northbridge temps. smile.gif

What's the temp for the GTS while the GTS is in PC-A10 & after you move to PC-G7? brows.gif

And mine to state the temps for the processor, NB, and your GTS while you're using PC-A10 and after swapping it into PC-G7? blink.gif

imo, should be lower. the PCA-10 doesnt have a very good front intake. thus this causes my temps to go sky high
*
But then, uncle sniper on the roof doesn't agree with that when i state about that in the LL thread. laugh.gif

Well, two users of LL PC-A10 proves that the PC-A10 suffers from fresh intake for the GFX, it's up to others to believe it.

And this is why i switch my dream casing from PC-A10 to V1200B Plus II! tongue.gif

- copper is better

Not particularly right. smile.gif

The best would be a mix of copper + aluminium, like ultra 120, infinity, ninja, BTVX, and other high end heatsink. thumbup.gif

in actual fact. copper conducts heat better while aluminium extracts heat quicker.
i cant remember, but i remember seeing that in some german review site

just asking, maybe wrong thread(if so sorry ar), but are Danger Den's Water blocks for cpu and vga any good?
*
Yes, you are in the wrong thread.
You should ask this question in the watercooling guides & tips.

Anyway, yerp, Danger Den's okay la, much much better if you want to compare it with Thermaltake, Coolermaster & Gigabyte waterblock. laugh.gif

I don't know why, but even my DFI board also gives me a really really high temps eventhough i'm using swiftech watercooling for my E6420 sweat.gif

It seems that DFI loves to report a really high temps. sad.gif

just change my stock HSF to third party HSF ( AC 64Pro ) .... using everest ultimate the reading shows that idle around 51C and full load (using stress test option) around 61C ??? shakehead.gif any comment ??

Hmm, that's weird, mind to tell us your PC setup? hmm.gif

woh...even watercooling still hv high temp?

Yerp, dunno why.
I think our DFI boards is using a temperature sensor chip that is kinda "gila" laugh.gif

Because when i touch the reservoir, the water is not hot at all. rclxub.gif
It's really cold.

I've lapped my waterblock base and been reseating the waterblock three times, no improvement at all. doh.gif

just a quick question, any of you knew where could i get this in Lowyat Plaza or anywhere else in Selangor other than purchase it from bulk order? System temp pretty bad at the moment and i could not fit a pci slot system blower due to lack of space.  sad.gif

I don't think you can get it locally, the only way is to get it from ELHH82 bulk. smile.gif

I dunno whether it will still be perform well after the base it cut off... you can try to lap it lor... then tell us the result...  brows.gif  tongue.gif  but I think they make the base like that for a reason... maybe you can ask Noctua about it... icon_idea.gif
*
It will perform better than the original, this is because the thermal will take lesser time to be transferred to the heatpipes. smile.gif

But just make sure that u cut it 99.99% flat, or else, you'll get worse performance out of your heatsink. sweat.gif

That's a Pentium 4 2.4A or Pentium 4 2.4C?
What i meant is, is it prescott core processor or northwood core processor? hmm.gif

northwood i think the fsb is 533 and when case open the temp is at stable 54C when not in use

Wrong, prescott 2.4A comes in FSB533.
No prescott 2.4GHz comes in FSB800 smile.gif

I don't think that's a northwood, i think it's a prescott.
Anyway, why don't you post a CPUz screenie instead? hmm.gif

55degrees on stock heatsink for prescott is normal la. laugh.gif
But try cleaing up the heatsink and apply a new layer of thermal paste, that'll help to reduce 3 - 5 degrees. smile.gif

Is it normal for HD0 to go above 50? thanks

IMO, 50degrees for HDD is pretty high, is there any fan infront of the HDD? hmm.gif

relax la..its nt that hot also...anyway, presler and prescott cores are hot burners, i have seen a pentium D 915 idle at 40c and load at 60 on the ori stock HSF which is dusty.
*

No, you misunderstood what darude87 is trying to explain.
What he's trying to say is why does his NH-U12F doesn't even perform better than the stock LGA775 heatsink.

Anyway darude87, i believe the problem came from the airflow of your casing itself.
The best way for us to help you is by giving a picture on how does your setup looks like. smile.gif
