I wouldn't say 2-3 degrees higher, probably much higher but dependent on how much extra TIM you apply.

Apply 1 small dot of TIM is sufficient.

to be precise, it's thermal adhesive. once u attach it, u will be having hard time removing it.

it's better then the so call 'double side tape'

it depand on what kind of the Tim u used. some TIM which have metal substance in it will have potential to leak
into yr mobo if u apply too much, which u will end up RMA yr mobo rclxub.gif

it is possible that the thermal paste will conduct electricity and cause short circuit to mobo?

Possible, opt for Arctic Cooling's TIM. They are not electric conductors.

well, for those who use the Xigmatek S1283 same as mine.

i teach u guys a trick which is very useful for this cooler.

take off ur xigmatek, make sure where it cover ur proc.

it has 3 heat pipes right?

apply AC MX-1 at the right and left heat pipe while MX-2 at the centre heat pipe.it works superb!!!!

(one thing i found out,MX-2 works suck than MX-1,MX-1 still better than it.)

for those who trust me,u try it and u post a reply here.

MX-1+MX-2=MX-?

That doesn't seem right.
Me, empire23 & some other guys tested both MX-1 & MX-2, and the MX-2 really does outperform MX-1.
Perhaps there's something wrong with the way you applied MX-2. smile.gif

how do you apply your mx-2? i think my temperature too is a bit on the sucky side..

i apply jus a little a tiny bit, like a grain of rice, at the center of the proc.. is it ok?

or need to do some other way?

You're asking me or AceCombat?
If you ask me, i only use a tiny drop at the size of rice grain. smile.gif

IMHO, MX2 is much better now. I've yet to really compare the temps between MX1 n MX2 but the ease of application is so much better now. It's more liquid. Also when u remove the heatsinks as often as I do, u'll really appreciate how easy it is to lift the heatsink off the CPU.

Last time AS5 will stick to the heatsink like superglue n practically yank out the whole socket while pulling off the heatsink. MX1 was better than AS5 in that respect, easier to pull off the heatsink but still difficult. With MX2, the heatsink just comes off easily. That's sumthin we dont read about in TIM reviews. LOL. They oni concentrate on pure performance but no feedback on ease of use.

First time using a premium compound other than white goop.

Here's my temps for MX-2 (P4 2.4GHz stock, 7600GS DDR2 AGP stock, temps read from speedfan, CPU stressed with Prime95, GPU stressed with rthdribl)

Before: Stock pad/compound removed, applied with white goop.
CPU Local Idle: 34
CPU Local Load: 40

CPU Remote Idle: 36
CPU Remote Load: 53

GPU Idle: 43
GPU Load: 54

After: White goop removed, applied with MX-2
CPU Local Idle: 34
CPU Local Load: 39

CPU Remote Idle: 36
CPU Remote Load: 51

GPU Idle: 45
GPU Load: 57

*Rerun*
GPU Idle: 42
GPU Load: 50

Only a very slight decrease in temps. Something's odd with the GPU Load after applying MX-2. Conclusion: Stock heatsinks suck.

PS: Reseated the GPU's heatsink. I think there wasn't enough pressure in the earlier run.
