My suggestion may sound silly. But how about ask your friends who also using the Sandisk USB drive to lend you for testing? Or you can fork out a little money to buy another brand new 16gb Sandisk USB OTG and try. Right now no one can help you because none of us have any idea on what happened to your phone or that USB drive. IMO, the most important thing right now is to find out which one is causing the trouble, it's either your phone or your USB drive. My suggestion is the only ways for you to pinpoint the cause. If the other Sandisk USB drive works on your Note 5, then that means your own sandisk USB drive is the culprit. Then this is simple. Just buy a new one.
If the other Sandisk USB OTG also don't work on your phone, then sorry to say that your phone is having issue. Then you may try to reset the phone and try again. If it still don't work, then the service centre will be your next stop.
Again, yes, my suggestion seems kind of silly. But still, it's better than asking around for answer which you know you may never be able to get in anytime soon.
