cut rate = economy bad
increase rate = economy too good

but cut rate = easier for you to service your loan
increase rate = less money to spend.

i put myself as customer. if cut rate, i have so much additional fund to spend... so economy will be good.

if spending, cut rate good.
if saving, cur rate bad.

but cut rate means economy bad, because cut rate is to encourage spending.

Hi, asking here because I think this is the appropriate place to ask... Context: I have absolutely zero experience trading stocks.

My company is gifting me some company shares as a reward for long time service.
Problem is, the HQ is in Norway and the stocks is traded at the Bors (Norway's Bursa)

Question: how can I receive the stocks here in Malaysia? I use Maybank for my salary account, and I asked my local branch - they are not trading with Norway bors.

How may I proceed from here? Your kind advice and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

no idea about this. But I think you'd get more answers by posting in Serious Kopitiam or something, coz although this is the place to ask, the number of active users here is not many.

Your company should have designated stock brokers or bank for employees.

Simple answer : sell your shares to your other Norwegian colleagues... and cash out.

YOU will never be able to trade the shares on Bors ... not many broker app will support a country that's so tiny

I am curious, how very determined are you in holding stocks in a particular counter? Made a mistake of buying into a stock, priced at 0.04 It's been months and it never moved up a tick! It hovers around at 0.04 or moved down to 0.035

I don't need the money, but I do feel it is wasteful to hold on to it, but at the same time I will lose money if I sell it at the buying price. At least, I'll be losing on the buy/sell fees.

If it is a bad investment, my principle is to cut.
If you are waiting for a bad investment to become good, this short term feels good because you never recognize the loss but long term unlikely to yield profits.

Unless you want to make it through your investment life never losing money on any investment.
It is also about opportunity cost. If you wait another year hoping it'll go up, might as well go for at least bonds and get a year's interest.

But of course, KLSE rules apply when you sell.
When you sell, stock always goes up up up.

Hi, newbie here just venturing into stock... Can someone advise me, when would be the right time to sell? Once you make certain %? Or just keep to enjoy the dividents? I have small amount (rm500-700) in 99smart & skhawk so far. Skhawk has 30% return so far and speedmart 5%. Each time i transact, I pay rm10fees. Are these shares worth to keep for long term? Or shd I sell and buy others? If buy others, how to determine which one? Not going towards Maybank yet as the price is very high, saving up for it... Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

I suggest you read up properly on stock investing and the types of strategies. For such small amounts it might be better to invest in a robo advisor and forget the headache of actively monitoring your stocks. If interested can read up on value investing, dividend investing, growth investing, contrarian investing and trading (such as momentum trading). When you want to sell depends on why you bought which depends on your strategy. If you bought for dividend then keep and enjoy the dividend, if you bought for capital gain, what was your target (if trading). For stock investment minimum should invest 3k and above per stock each time, or else the fees are too high. You invest 700 and pay RM 10 fee each time is 1.4% when buy and 1.4% (can be more or less) when you sell. Get some proper financial education first then come to stocks.

Thoughts on REITS, anyone ? I have a hunch it should be on an uptrend. And considering they are giving out regular dividends, it should be a feasible thing to buy into this sector ?

So, did you dip your toe into REITS? Or KLCC for that matter?

I should've heed your advice. Now my investment has gone from bad to worse, as the company is now listed in PN17 sweat.gif Let me just continue parking it there, and see if the company can get itself out of it. Else I'll take it as my learning cost lor
