Still can't wrap my head around Uber, Lyft, door dash, companies like this.

While it provides values to consumers' standpoint, earning is difficult. Hence narrative is needed.

Uber is burning cash for autonomous driving

Grab, super app in Asia.

Anyone has some insights?

The e-hailing, food delivery, parcel delivery is just part of the business operation to tie up customers into their eco-system.

The real big money is where the digital bank license, that's the part where Grab can provide u micro loan and micro OD.

When we take that as departments wouldn't companies like upstart and lending club do a better jobs? The growth is real good for such companies.

So, the narrative is indeed a superapp, no?

It is not easy to find trust worthy people to manage vast sum of funds. most upstart and lending club is disaster fraud waiting to happen.

US stocks or Malaysia stocks a good buy for long term hold for growth/dividend?

US stocks take at least 1 day for funds to reach via Wise > IBKR. Malaysia stocks instant can invest via FPX deposit to Mplus etc brokers.

I see US stocks keep increase like mad.. Malaysia stocks I got hold a few their value keep up and down +- RM10 to 20 bucks.

If wanna invest in local stocks need to go for those cheap stocks with a lot of potential growth? not the matured stocks?

Please share your advise sifus sekalian..

Don't mind if I ask why is the speed of funding one of your concern if your intention is long term investment?

TG finally realized the billion ringgit mark.
What a case study it'll be to students of economics.

Well, I think the buyback lesson of starting a bonfire in the carpark may have set in.
There are only so much resources you can commit to fighting market forces.

In the short term, as Benjamin Graham said, the market is a voting machine. Prices are hostage to market sentiment.
So this may be a move to put some positive PR and try to shore up investor confidence in the share. Personal buys and all are to hopefully convey that now is a good price and the price has bottomed out. I don't know how effective that has been, there is still way more uncertainty surrounding TG than most other counters.

Can't fault them for doing what they can.

Bonfire in the carpark. Looks like TG case study parallels IBM.
*
Boon3, yes based on current price it is slightly above RM1 bil.
Quoting a couple of posts from a year ago on the topic. I see real similarities, although the scale may be different, with IBM's own disastrous buyback unde Ginni Rometty.

Like wheeling out a billion ringgit to your compnay carpark and setting it on fire.

The last time... when the semicon started crashing... Mpi had its disastrous share buybacks too.....

Yup...many academic teachings... like share buybacks... they leave out the part where the share buybacks can be badly executed (ie the company go amok buying back their shares), the results are often disastrous....

In TG's case the sbb were badly executed, was it because of the price at which the shares are bought back at, which resulted in serious losses?

Many businesses e.g delivery, ghost kitchen, online marketplace, etc could be copied without much difficulty. However, how many have cash to burn until achieving dominant like Didi, Alibaba, Uber, etc.

It seems grab merger didn't have lock-in period and many of its investors cashed out.

Grab buys Jaya Grocer.

For US, I would choose growth stock as the dividends are tax for non US residents.

For dividend stocks, I would choose local bourse and Singapore REIT.

Planning to open a Singapore bank account soon once hit my local investment target.

Well, any sifu want to add on or critisize? I am all ears and eyes 👀
