QUOTE(zstan @ Jun 25 2020, 10:24 PM) becos the bank stocks are rallying due to change in rules:QUOTE Bank stocks reverse higher as regulators ease Volcker Rule, JPMorgan Chase rises 2% Federal banking regulators eased restrictions on investments that large banks can make on Thursday, including the so-called “Volcker Rule,” sending bank stocks surging. Officials from the Federal Deposit Insurance Commission said on a call that they are loosening the restrictions from the Volcker Rule, allowing banks to more easily make large investments into venture capital and similar funds, and also allowing banks to avoid setting aside cash for derivatives trades between different affiliates of the same firm. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/25/bank-stocks...s-2percent.html |

QUOTE(immobile @ Jun 26 2020, 02:48 PM) QUOTE Supernormal profit not for long, stock rally priced in KUALA LUMPUR: Public Investment Bank Bhd has cut its rating on the rubber glove sector to "neutral" from "overweight"as it believes the supernormal profit is not sustainable in the long run. Furthermore, PublicInvest said the glove stocks' current valuation had ran ahead of their fundamentals. The firm said the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak had led to sharp spike in rubber gloves demand in recent months, as distributors and government agencies scramble to buy more medical gloves, in fear of a dire shortage of protective gears. "The desperation for gloves has driven ASP (average selling price) higher and we expect the price uptrend to continue as demand for gloves remains strong," it said in a report today. "However, we caution that such strong profits are unsustainable in the long-run and we expect earnings to peak in calendar year 2021, therefore we reckon it is not justifiable to continue valuing the glove players at +2SD (standard deviation) of its respective five-year historical mean,"it added. PublicInvest revised Hartalega Holdings Bhd and Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd's earnings forecast for financial years 2020-2022 by 11-124 per cent to account for the higher ASP assumption and operational efficiency. The firm kept its "neutral" call on Kossan and Hartalega, but upgraded Top Glove Corp Bhd to "trading buy" as its target price implied an upside of 25 per cent following a retracement in its share price since its recent downgrade. "We reduce our price earnings multiple for both Hartalega and Kossan to 38x and 26x respectively, which is at +1SD of its five-year historical mean," PublicInvest said. https://www.nst.com.my/business/2020/06/603...ck-rally-priced |

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Jun 26 2020, 04:18 PM) it is an alligator market, no doubt.besides the very well known issues, bursa also suffers from continued foreign funds exit, imminent incr in debt and negative outlook reports. i also noticed that the RM declined quite a bit today vs $ and SGD... whether this will accelerate, we will see. put it all together, it doesn't look bode well for bursa. if the profit making glove champions wither, the rest will rot much faster, imo. we are all dying to see the various sector/biz/cos. pending QRs for 2Q2020. gloves still strong... returning with a vengeance, it appears.
then again, no other sector is making good profits now. O&G, banks, construction, etc.... all declining, making losses... bad QRs coming. |

QUOTE(ZeroSOFInfinity @ Jun 29 2020, 10:31 AM) Well, looks like I will be holding my stocks for the next few months, until it gets back to the green..... probably 6 months. that is overall KLCI, a mixed bag.some are stronger, some weaker. but yes, overall market sentiment is key, nothing beats it. if US stocks fall another 10-15% as they now predict, it will be hard not to see losses here. |

QUOTE(daidragon12 @ Jun 29 2020, 10:50 AM) Even good QR probably won't help. See what happened to Top Glove last time. yep, that is a real possibility.Foreign funds are withdrawing and not many retail traders as before since MCO and moratorium is ending. but things can change very quickly... see how dow kangaroos its way in the last 3 months... |
