Some of the rider really cares on what car their get ride,
Some are just want pleasant ride, clean and smooth to destination without any dramas.

Please wear properly like collar shirt, long sleeve and shoes. And make sure u dont have strong body odor.

No need to attend them like vip too much, let them in by them self just assist to open your boot when their have some luggage and groceries.

Not sure what chipset but im using iphone6 for uber and old samsung glaxy ace for grab driver,
*
Lel.....usually I just wear some round-neck t-shirt and slippers only.....with jeans lah....unless I am too lazy, at night, then, I just wear shorts biggrin.gif

So long as I comfortable, as I will hardly out from car, except few occassion to assist them to take their luggage or groceries in or out from boot.

But, I notice wearing shorts maybe bit turn-off for young ladies especially when they dressed to clubbing biggrin.gif while me just wearing shorts. That's why I realized, and try minimized it.

i wear round-neck t-shirt, shorts and slippers all the time...but driving a pretty decent car...so far no ppl complain me on that hehe
*
Even complain oso we driver won't know biggrin.gif

but so far, after driving for 6 months, my feedback from the apps is mainly on bad route/ city knowledge (3 times) and late arrival/ missed ETA (1 time), which I don't give a dammed, as I am not walking GPS, if the rider expect me to know all the routes, too bad, you better hire personal driver, either you guide me with your preferred route or I will follow GPS. Late arrival or missed ETA? Hello....I am religiously follow GPS to reach the rider, but, what can I do if the stupid Uber apps constantly under declared the ETA time?

Yesterday was not my day, received request with incomplete address, just show street name. Sms no reply, thought ok lah, drive towards there first, nearer to location, give the rider a call to ask exact location. Manatau, almost 200m to location, driving to about 4km, have not reach 5 min yet, the rider cancelled it vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif I sms the rider told the fella I am going to report it to uber, get the fella suspended. Lucky got another request come in and nearby.

Next time, if rider no give complete address, I will not even start my journey. I will sms them for exact location, reply or call me only I start. Else, you wait long long lah.

dude, it's not proper to threaten customer as they can use that SMS to report to Uber and get you banned.
For troublesome customers, don't take it personally, and just move on.
*
I didn't threaten the fella, I just told him that I am reporting him to Uber to get suspended, for abusing the system, cancelling when the driver about to reach the pick up location, but, less than 5 min threshold.

I do agree on the driver's attire. We need to wear proper dress at least a collar t-shirt, long pants and covered shoes.

I've been informed by some of my riders, they are comparing Malaysian Uber/grab driver professionalism in terms of appearances an attire. Some of them says our uber/grab like to wear just round neck shirt, short pants and slipper (macam baru bangun tidur). They are comparing to neighboring countries like SG, Indonesia, Thailand etc.

And I even pernah dapat an ahmoi driver, wearing hot short pant and got pillow on her lap during driving. Not proper la like that one.
*
coz malaysian uber driver are mainly part-timers biggrin.gif treat this is time filling, low paying job.....just slightly better than taxi biggrin.gif

u can't expect someone come new and clean car with someone wearing tie, long sleeves shirts with tie and dark pants and polished shoes and where the fare is usually range from RM10 to RM20 mega_shok.gif , or some even less than RM5

Maybe Uber Black can do lah flex.gif

Lel biggrin.gif wanna to ask, since you are also Grab driver, now they aggressively promoting their ride, like 50% off fare. Does it mean that the driver also receiving less? Or, Grab will compensate the driver for the difference?

On the first day driving for Grab, a group of 3 Africans (drank some beer before coming into my car) almost fight in my car

then other customers are mostly foreigners...1 of them even ask me to check map to see got road block or not before starting trip (not sure what is his intention)

the riders are also very demanding...5 secs after accept request already call to ask "where are you?"

although the pay is better than Uber...but no thanks.

I doubt they will revise the fare...people are leaving Uber, yes...but look at the amount of people joining in as well...

currently they are in price war with Grab also...therefore it is very unlikely they change (or to be more precise, increase) the fare.

Lel...i am been bombarded with sms and email for past 3 weeks from uber saying that my acceptance rate is low.....padahal, I think at most i just didn't accept 2-3 request out of 20 odd ride per week. Not sure if really apps bug issue or really so bad.

This week, I will start try new strategy, started yesterday, I will accept every single ride request, even if I am on trip. Just like happen yesterday, this rider ask me to send her to bank, and then, send her back. Her destination set till to bank only, while waiting for her settle her stuff, another request come in (not really that nearby too, about 5km or 7 min drive), I just accept lor, even though I still need to send the first rider back.

Tried to find way to contact the second rider, seems the apps can't. The contact rider button for second rider is there, but, cannot click. Apa nak buat, wait for the 2nd rider to contact me lor, wanna explain to 2nd rider if want to cancel or can't wait or not, stupid uber apps can't allow it. Don't accept the request, then, the ride acceptance rate drop

End up, after a while, the 2nd rider noticing I jalan jalan, go cancel off the request finally......

Padan muka Uber developer, creating too many control without much consideration.....

Stupid Uber cancellation policy

Uber's cancellation policy:
-If the rider cancels before 5 minutes, no cancellation fee will apply.
-If the rider cancels after 5 minutes, a cancellation fee will apply as long as you are still arriving on-time.
-If you cancel the trip after arriving at the rider’s request location and waiting 5 minutes, a cancellation fee will apply.

First and second one I still can accept. The third one? vmad.gif

Happen to me few times, and today, happen again, rider give me the wrong pick up location. Location is totally opposite of the one in app. No choice to cancel, write to Uber support, and was told no cancellation fee, due to 3rd point mad.gif

So, ask them back, in future, if given rider give wrong location, can we start the trip immediately, and then re-route it to right location? I think I am going to do this from now onwards

For all new drivers, please beware, usually these happen to those newbie, first time rider, they simply point and drop the pin as they wish, and without reviewing the address before confirm the pick up location. Although hard to identified who are the first time user, first time user will have 5 star rating (although some really good and experienced rider also able to maintain 5 star, but, this is rather exception than norm). So, be careful with those rider with 5 star rating. Contact them first to confirm pick up location.

Don't buta buta go drive to the pick up location which might be wrong and you may end up got nothing. mad.gif bangwall.gif

Why not call the passenger before arriving to their location to double confirm?

Edit: oh didnt notice your 2nd last paragraph to contact them
*
Some passenger are not contactable, i.e. not replying sms or answering phone. And, as safe driving practice, I usually stop my car (if I am driving) to safe location prior contacting them. Thus, may cause further some delay in pick them up (some passenger can be real unreasonable, expect the driver arrived the moment they request, although this more exception than norm). This does not help as Uber apps estimation is not based on route and real time traffic calculation, but, radius distance, and 90% shorter than actual (which can be difference of 10-15 min).

Have anyone faced this glitch before? After accepting a request, there is a cursor appear right in the middle of the screen and keep clicking the screen automatically and repeatedly. It happened to me last night for 2 times after I accepted 2 jobs.

See the white thingy in the pic below.

It doesn't mean there is rider demand for that. Even if there is, the distance travelled may be less than 5km, and I bet that location is super jammed, unless you dammed lucky at in front of the rider, chances are the ETA will be exceptionally long.

Happen to me yesterday, sending passenger to Masjid India area, and another queue coming in, 2.8 times, from Renaisance Hotel, normal ETA should be less than 4 min, due to Raya eve, I was stuck in Masjid India area for 20 min. And, end up the rider cancelled the ride without any cancellation fee bangwall.gif

Good luck to those drivers who chase for surge, it just ploy of Uber to cheat driver to drive to the area ranting.gif

Same goes to the PHG incentives...

Tier 1 - Min RM500 to qualify
Common, if I can hit RM500, very high chance my gross fare per hour is higher than the PHG fare doh.gif

Then, come out with clause like min 1 trip or 1.25 trip per hour, 50% trip must start in Core Area.....
Common, mean that they will only pay you if you station yourself within Core Area, and there is at least 1 demand per hour (if you really bad luck, 1 whole hour no demand in Core Area, happen to me once) tough luck. Then, will only pay you if your ride distance is nearby (else if anything travel outside the Core Area, it will definitely more than the guaranteed amount, and then you need to back to Core Area again). However, if your travelled distance is near, all within Core Area, and the demand is between 2-3 per hour, chances are your fare also above guaranteed amount already

Conclusion, all the so called promotion is bullshit, and Uber doesn't give a dammed to driver. Think twice before you decide quit your job and drive full time. Uber is good for extra additional income or to help you to tide over during difficult period (i.e. retrenched, temporary additional expenses or commitment), but, never a good way to earn a living.
